Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are creating original songs for the big-screen adaptation of the book, which is a perpetual graduation day gift. The film will be produced by Bad Robot’s J.J. Mike Love gave thanks to his late cousin and Beach Boys bandmate and co-writer Brian Wilson during his Songwriters Hall of Fame induction in New York on Thursday night, telling the crowd of fellow writers and industry insiders that “I do feel his presence” in the room as he accepted his honor.

Love’s induction to the Songwriters Hall of Fame came just a day after Wilson died Wednesday at age 82, and 25 years after Wilson himself was inducted into the Hall back in 2000.

“I especially must thank my cousin Brian Wilson,” Love said Thursday. “My first cousin by blood but brother in music, together we set the stage for some of the most successful music collaborations of all time.”

Love was inducted by John Stamos, a famously huge Beach Boys fan who’s collaborated with the band frequently. In his induction speech, Stamos said that Love chronicled “the American dream” with the songs he wrote.

Lilo and Stitch has proven that there's still plenty of life in Disney's live-action remakes of animated classics, but the recent reimagining of one of the Mouse House's most popular and well-known tales was a rare misfire.

The remake, starring Rachel Zegler as Disney’s original princess, began its box office life with promise, dethroning Captain America: Brave New World with a $42 million domestic debut. However, the honeymoon ended quickly. In its second weekend, Snow White cratered with a 66% drop, slipping to second place behind Jason Statham’s A Working Man. Things got worse from there, as the film dropped to fourth when A Minecraft Movie shattered records with a $162 million domestic opening.

However, the bigger picture remains bleak. Snow White has grossed $87.2 million domestically and $118.3 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $205.5 million. That might seem like a decent number — until you factor in its massive production and marketing costs. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently sits at a dismal 40% from critics and a moderately disappointing 72% from audiences.

Disney is bringing its latest live-action remake home. After a not-so-great run in theaters, director Marc Webb's "Snow White" is making its way to digital marketplaces and, soon enough, streaming. So, those who perhaps didn't catch it in theaters will now be able to watch it from the comfort of their couch.

Starring Rachel Zegler as the famed Disney Princess and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, "Snow White" serves as a re-imagining of the enduring animated classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." There are some pretty major differences between the films, however, as the live-action "Snow White" sees the titular princess join forces with seven dwarfs and a group of rebels to liberate her kingdom from her wicked stepmother. Now, all of the magic, music, and romance will be available with just the few clicks of a button.

When Can Snow White Be Streamed,...

The Walt Disney Studios has announced that Snow White will arrive on May 13 on digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The film will be available on 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 24.

Snow White's digital and physical media release dates have now been revealed as the film's disappointing theatrical run continues. Serving as a live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the new film features Rachel Zegler as the titular Disney Princess, with Gal Gadot playing the Evil Queen. Snow White has been mired in controversy since before its theatrical release on March 21, and the film was ultimately met with lackluster reviews and has so far grossed just $200 million worldwide.

Disney now confirms that Snow White will be available to rent and purchase on VOD starting Tuesday, May 13. A special two-movie bundle that includes the original animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will also be available digitally on this date. The announcement accompanies the reveal that the live-action remake will arrive on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray on June 24, with this date also marking the release of the DVD version of the two-movie collection.

According to Variety, Snow White has been banned from playing in all movie theaters in Lebanon due to the involvement of Evil Queen actress Gal Gadot, who is said to be on the country's "boycott list."

Lebanon’s Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar reportedly ordered the ban after being prompted to take action by the country’s film and media watchdog amid Israel’s ongoing attacks on Hezbollah. However, Beirut-based Middle East distributor Italia Films believes that the ban would have happened anyway, as Gadot has long been on Lebanon’s “Israel boycott list” and no movie in which she appears in has ever been released there.

Disney’s “Snow White” has been banned from playing in movie theaters in Lebanon as star Gal Gadot is on the country’s boycott list, according to local media reports.

Local newspaper An-Nahar reported that the ban was ordered by Lebanon’s Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, who made the decision amid Israel’s ongoing attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon, which have killed civilians.

Gadot, who portrays The Evil Queen in the live-action remake, was born in Israel and served in the Israel Defense Forces. She has been an outspoken advocate for the country since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks.

“Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews,” Gadot said in a March 4 speech at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit in New York City.

Disney’s latest live-action remake of one of their classic animations is “Snow White,” and if you’re wondering how close it sticks to the original, you’re not alone. Especially when it comes to the songs.

Now in theaters, the film follows Snow White (Rachel Zegler), a young princess who loses both of her parents and now lives with just the Evil Queen. Snow remembers the kingdom as it was under her parents’ rule though, pushing the Queen to act with kindness and fairness. You can guess how that goes.

In terms of story, it does deviate from the original 1937 film in various places — including the songs. Taking aside all of the supposed controversies surrounding Snow White, many Disney fans are unhappy with the movie starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot not because of politics or skin colour, but what appears to be a series of sweeping changes from the original 1937 cartoon.

You don't need to be a Disney fan to be aware of Snow White. The movie has been making headlines for years, typically for all the wrong reasons.

Whether it's Rachel Zegler's divisive comments about the 1937 classic, Gal Gadot's stance on the Gaza war, or the many changes Disney has made to the story to update it for the present day, there's a lot of negative buzz surrounding this one. Throw in the fact reviews haven't been good and Snow White's opening weekend is off to a sleepy start.

According to Variety (via Toonado.com), the movie only drew an estimated $3.5 million from Thursday previews screenings; that's a long way off what Aladdin ($7 million), The Lion King ($23 million), Beauty and the Beast ($16.3 million) made, for example.

On Saturday, March 15, on a sunny afternoon, Disney’s “Snow White” finally had its big premiere at the Disney-owned El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. There was a brightly decorated pre-party with activities for kids. As long as they keep making money, Disney is going to continue cranking out live-action remakes of its animated classics, even if it means sacrificing its magic in the process. All art is subjective, which means there's no universal truth to declaring what determines the "best" or "worst" of these reimaginings, but I can say with confidence that Rachel Zegler is, hands down, the best live-action Disney Princess we've ever seen. Mind you, I have a deep affinity for Lily James' absolutely perfect portrayal of Cinderella, but I also lamented that she didn't get to sing "A dream is a wish your heart makes." Meanwhile, I'm far less critical of Emma Watson's Belle than most critics, mostly because the "Beauty and the Beast" retelling isn't great, but I can still admit something was lacking to transcend the character into the kind of unignorable magnetism inherent in all Disney Princesses.
