There’s a new sequel to the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) and its 1998 follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one Here) in theatres now (JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols gave it a 4/10 “dumpster fire” review that can be read at This Link). Jennifer Love Hewitt, who played heroine Julie James in the first two films, and Freddie Prinze Jr., who was Julie’s boyfriend Ray Bronson in those films, reprise their roles – and they’re facing off with a new “Fisherman” killer that’s stalking a whole new cast. The movie features a twist that has been upsetting a lot of fans of the original movies, though, and in an interview with Variety, Hewitt took the opportunity to defend that twist. So we’re going to have to dig into Spoiler territory before we get to her defense.

I Know What You Did Last Summerstar Madelyn Cline explains the new movie's last minute changes.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Cline opened up about the fact that test audiences were overtly upset by the death of her character, Danica, in the newly-released I Know What You Did Last Summer threequel. According to Cline, she "only got the news that I was coming back about two-and-a-half weeks ago," leading to a round of reshoots in which it is shown that Danica did indeed survive her ordeal with the latest murderous Fisherman.

The below contains spoilers for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” now in theaters.
Major, major spoilers for whoever hasn’t seen “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (the 2025 one) yet. Madelyn Cline, who portrays Danica Richards in the film, has a brutal would-be-death scene at the movie’s climax. With Danica seemingly at the bottom of the ocean, it would appear that there was no coming back to the franchise for the “Outer Banks” star. But instead, right at the end, Danica washes ashore. She’s alive against all odds.
In an interview with THR, released July 20 but conducted on June 28, Cline revealed that the ending was a last-minute revision. “I only got the news that I was coming back about two-and-a-half weeks ago,” she said — meaning the scene was shot just about a month shy of the release.

We have Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis), Tajh Bellow (T.J. Ashford), Gregory Harrison (Gregory Chase), and Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer) representing in the supporting category, and finally Avery Kristen Pohl (Esme Prince), Jacqueline Lopez (Blaze) and Alley Mills (Heather Webber) representing in the guest performance category.
General Hospital has an incredible cast of actors and actresses, but there were many who feel that other actors and actresses were also deserving of a nomination this year for an Emmy. Let’s take a look at some other cast members who were overlooked, and deserve recognition for their performance in 2024.

I Know What You Did Last Summerdirector Jennifer Kaytin Robinson explains actors Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez's absences from the film. The two had been announced as having roles inn the movie during production, but neither had their scenes make the final cut.
Per Deadline, Robinson recently discussed Tung and Chavez's absence from the upcoming sequel in an interview, stating, "It was just one of those situations where it had nothing to do with Lola and Nicholas — they are both so fantastic. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, director of the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, is revealing the reason Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez were cut from the film.
Back in November 2024, Deadline exclusively reported that the Summer I Turned Pretty star and the Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story actor had joined the cast of the slasher sequel.
However, when viewers see the film on the big screen, neither Tung nor Chavez will appear in the movie, despite having filmed scenes.
“In every movie, it’s best laid plans, and then you edit the movie and you put it together and you go, ‘I love this in a vacuum. This is a fantastic scene. But it doesn’t fit in the movie,'” Robinson said in an interview with People. “It was just one of those situations where it had nothing to do with Lola and Nicholas — they are both so fantastic.

Anyone hoping to see one actor from General Hospital in I Know What You Did Last Summer’s 2025 sequel risks leaving the theater disappointed, as the rising star’s scenes were sadly cut. General Hospital’s ever-changing cast includes plenty of stars who have moved on to other soap operas, as well as many actors who went on to have movie careers.
As Kristen Storms’ recent General Hospital recasting proves, the long-running show frequently needs to replace actors due to scheduling conflicts. Thanks to the sheer number of episodes General Hospital has produced and its 62 years on the air, the soap opera is used to actors coming and going from time to time.
However, anyone following one recent General Hospital star’s career will be sad to learn his latest blockbuster role was cut, alongside an appearance by The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Lola Tung. Speaking to People,I...

It’s shaping up to be quite a good week for Cooper Koch, who just received his first Emmy nomination this morning for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series. Not only is he ecstatic about the news, the nomination came as a bit of an early present for him. “Today’s the greatest day and it’s my birthday tomorrow,” says Koch. “That’s the best birthday present in the entire world.”
Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story is the second season of Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology series for Netflix, centering on the 1989 murders of José (Javier Bardem) and Kitty Menendez (Chloë Sevigny), who were killed by their sons Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Erik (Koch). The season was nominated for 11 Emmys, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

It looks like the end of Trai now that Trina learned what Kai did during the July 11, 2025 episode of General Hospital.
Trying Times For Trai
Trina (Tabyana Ali) fought it at first, but once she opened her heart to Kai (Jens Austin Astrup), she fell for the former QB1. She’ll always love Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), but she let herself get close to another man, and she may now be regretting it.
Kai is on his apology tour, first telling Curtis (Donnell Turne) that he told Drew (Cameron Mathison) about the plan to find the prostitute. Kai choosing Drew over Curtis May have just destroyed several lives now that Drew forced Curtis to blast a headline across all of Aurora Media saying Sonny (Maurice Benard) offed Natalia (Eva Laru).

Freddie Prinze Jr. is praising his work with co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt on the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel.
The thriller directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson reunites Prinze and Love Hewitt to reprise their roles of Ray Bronson and Julie James, respectively.
“Whatever a high school reunion feels like, that’s what it felt like,” Prinze told People about the reunion. “You have no idea what’s changed, what’s the same. You’re excited to show what you think you’re better at, you know what I mean? You hope they notice it. It was all those things.”
Prinze noted that returning to the roles and a tight filming schedule had to have them trust each other, adding, “I didn’t have any reason not to trust her. I know how much this character means to her. She puts everything into this girl and always has since the first movie.

Ryan Murphy has an axe to grind with Netflix. The streamer has reportedly ordered a fourth season of Murphy’s Monster anthology series, this time centered around infamous (alleged) axe murderer Lizzie Borden.
The historical figure was tried and acquitted for the murders of her father and stepmother in 1892, at which point she was ostracized by her Massachusetts community. Drew continues his trail of manipulation and heartbreak on General Hospital, threatening the happiness of Port Charles residents once again.
Drew Cain – The Couple Killer
Previously, Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) scheming led to the collapse of Michael (Rory Gibson) and Willow’s (Katelin MacMullen) marriage, after Willow and Drew became romantically involved. Willow and Michael’s marriage crumbled under the weight of Drew’s interference, resulting in a bitter divorce and a painful custody battle that saw Willow lose custody of their children, Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko).
Now, Drew’s shadow looms over another couple: Trina (Tabyana Ali) and her relatively new boyfriend, Kai (Jens Austin Astrup). The young couple faces mounting relationship drama as Congressman Cain inserts himself into their lives, continuing his pattern of sowing discord.

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers remind fans that Spencer Cassadine’s (last played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez) exit storylines in early 2024.
He had an incredible love story with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), but when he was presumed dead after taking a tumble off that cruise ship, along with Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), Trina was forced to move on.
With that said, should the show bring Spencer back as a recast? Considering recent developments, many fans believe they should!
A Body Was Never Found
It’s important to point out that Spencer’s, along with Esme’s body was never found. Of course, everyone assumed neither individual could survive the accident they were in, so they were declared dead shortly after the incident. Still, this left a window of opportunity for a Spencer return.
Trina mourned Spencer for a long while and just recently opened her heart back up to someone new.

The limited series/TV movie race has changed drastically over the course of the Emmy window. With “The Penguin” once the main frontrunner, “Adolescence” changed the game — much like “Baby Reindeer” did last year.
In a new episode of Variety’s Award Circuit, presented by Paramount+, TV editors Michael Schneider and Emily Longeretta discuss the top contending lead and supporting actors in both limited series and TV movies at this year’s Emmy Awards.
In the lead actress race, contenders include Cristin Milioti (“The Penguin”), Cate Blanchett (“Disclaimer”), Rashida Jones (“Black Mirror”), Amanda Seyfried (“Long Bright River”), Michelle Williams (“Dying for Sex”) and Ellen Pompeo (“Good American Family”).
“She’s been in our homes for years,” Schneider notes about the positive reaction to Pompeo in the Hulu series.
And then there’s the TV movie race, which brings in Renée Zellweger for her role in “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” to the forefront.

"Do you understand the fact that this really is about real people?"
That was the questioned posed by 15-time Oscar-nominee Thomas Newman to his daughter and fellow composer, Julia Newman, as she crafted the score for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. It was a fair question, considering Julia wasn't old enough to remember the headlines about brothers Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Erik Menendez (Cooper Koch), who in 1989 murdered their wealthy parents, José (Javier Bardem) and Kitty (Chloë Sevigny). As Julia told Gold Derby, it was important to "take a step back and understand that even though this is a dramatization, it's a dramatization based on real people."

There’s a new sequel to the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) and its 1998 follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one Here) coming our way from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), aiming for a July 18 theatrical release. Jennifer Love Hewitt, who played heroine Julie James in the first two films, and Freddie Prinze Jr., who was Julie’s boyfriend Ray Bronson in those films, are reprising their roles – and they’re going to be facing off with a new “Fisherman” killer that’s stalking a whole new cast. A trailer for the film dropped online a couple of months ago, and now a new trailer has been unveiled, just one month out from the film’s release. You can check it out in the embed above.
