Tooru Fujisawa has launched a new spin-off series on Great Teacher Onizuka on the online manga platform Comiplex on Oct 18, 2024.

The plot of the new spin-off manga centers around the vice principal Hiroshi Uchiyamada of the Kissho Academy, and is titled ‘Great Teacher Uchiyamada – Gtu – Ikari no Death Yamada‘.

Gtu, which is an interdimensional survival series, is described as:

Hiroshi Uchiyamada, the vice principal of Tokyo Kichijo Academy, is a middle-class teacher struggling between his subordinates and students. At home, he’s not well understood either, with his dog Eikichi being his only companion. One summer day, Uchiyamada visits Kabukicho to search for a runaway student. Little does he know, this marks the beginning of a massive nightmare awaiting him.

The movies and series coming to Netflix this April have been revealed, and among them is the 2000s classic by Studio Pierrot, based on the manga by Tooru Fujisawa: Great Teacher Onizuka, also known as Gto.

In an exciting announcement for fans of Great Teacher Onizuka, it has been revealed that the original cast members from the 1998 adaptation will reunite for the upcoming drama Gto Revival.

Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Yuta Yamazaki, Yosuke Kubozuka, Hidenori Tokuyama, Shun Oguri, and Naohito Fujiki, who portrayed pivotal characters such as Kunio Murai, Masaru Watanabe, Yoshito Kikuchi, Kenji Youda, Noboru Yoshikawa, and Ryuji Saejima respectively in the iconic series, are set to reprise their roles in this highly anticipated revival.

It was previously revealed that Takashi Sorimachi will return to portray the role of Onizuka.
