Poppy Gillett is an American actress and credited costume designer who got her start in both crafts in Munich, Germany, where she was born. Poppy launched into the entertainment industry at age 6 with an international Nickelodeon commercial for Schliech toy company. It's there when Poppy was 4 that her mom taught her to use a sewing machine and took her to markets to select fabric. They made their first matching dresses out of a shower curtain and wore them to a wedding.
When the collections of this young established fashion designer are not being featured on the runway, she is designing wardrobe for the films in which she acts. Some of her costume designing credits include feature films "Oh Christmas Tree," "Beyond the White Veil," and "13 Fanboy," the upcoming short "Poppy's Seeds" - which is loosely inspired by Poppy's sewing journey - and four other short films, plus a YouTube series. Look for Poppy's handmade leather shoes and accessories with coordinating outfits that she designed for 24 witches in "Beyond the White Veil." Poppy also is proud that Tyler Perry Studios let her wear her own accessory designs in the third season of Nickelodeon's "Young Dylan," where you can see her in the role of "Lisa."
After moving back to America at age 7, Poppy connected with director/actor Deborah Voorhees, who was in the process of creating the epic horror fan film "13 FANBOY," released in 2021. Deborah cast Poppy in a supporting role as Young Kelsie Voorhees. The movie includes many stars from the 1980s and 1990s "Friday the 13th" franchise and other horror favorites, including Dee Wallace, Tracie Savage, Kane Hodder, Corey Feldman and Deborah Voorhees.
When not acting or designing, Poppy enjoys dirt bike racing in cross-country style endurance hare scrambles with her brother, Mason Gillett, who also is an actor.
