We just reviewed Mouse of Horrors, and now its co-writer Harry Boxley, who has also given us the likes of Tsunami Sharks and The Madness of Humpty Dumpty, is back with Piglet. Yes, another attempt to cash in on the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey franchise from its distributor ITN.

Apparently set in America despite the characters’ British accents, the film opens with a condemned criminal making their escape from custody and heading for a cave in the woods where they don a familiar looking mask in preparation for the arrival of some victims.

They don’t have long to wait before Kate and her friends Judith, Alex, Dianne (Alina Varakuta; Whisper in the Dark) and Susie arrive to celebrate Kate’s 21st birthday.

Coming soon from ITN Studios is the slasher movie Piglet, the latest twisted take on a public domain character from the Pooh universe, and we’ve got the trailer for you this afternoon.

For clarity, this project is not part of the public domain universe known as the “Poohniverse,” which began with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Same idea, different team.

Horror versions of fairy tales, such as Snow White: A Tale of Terror with Sigourney Weaver and Sam Neil, for example, have been around for quite a while. And now the current trend of turning kid’s stories and nursery rhymes into horror films has carried over to them. It makes sense, they’re filled with witches, ghosts and in their original versions tended to be pretty grim and bloody moments such as Cinderella’s stepsisters cutting off their toes to try and get their foot in the glass slipper. And that brings us to Cinderella’s Revenge.

It certainly opens on an appropriately nasty note as Katherine frames her husband for the theft of the king’s jewels and has him killed for the bounty.

Plot: Cinderella is pushed too far by her evil stepsisters and stepmother, which causes her to switch out her glass shoes and use the assistance of her Fairy Godmother to seek bloody vengeance.

Review: Everyone knows what they’re in for when it comes to these movies at this point, right? I don’t need to lay out the schpeal about public domain horror? Good, because it seems as though these films are here to stay. And in instances like this, I kind of get it. A twisted take on a tale that’s been told a thousand times? We saw Seth Grahame-Smith do something similar with his Pride, Prejudice and Zombies and even Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. So it’s not like this is a brand-new concept. The real question remains: how well does this film do with transforming the Cinderella story into one of horror?

Natasha Henstridge plays Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother in Andy Edwards’ Cinderella’s Revenge. It’s a dark, twisted and blood-soaked take on the classic fairy tale, transforming Cinderella into a violent vigilante out for revenge against her wicked stepsisters.

Speaking with Eye For Film, Henstridge recalls daunting and fond memories of her experience making Species, and the joy of being a devil on the shoulder.

Paul Risker: How did you catch the acting bug?

Natasha Henstridge: Even before school, I was a ham. A lot of actors are very quiet and private people, that are out there in the world exploring through other characters. That was not me - I was the kid who was super-hyper, had a camera in someone's face all the time at Christmas functions, pretending I was a reporter or interviewer, wanting to get the nitty-gritty and understand who they were.

Fairy tales, in their undiluted forms, need no help when it comes to being creepy and horrifying. However, the Disneyfication of these classic stories makes it rather easy to forget their morbid beginnings. In the case of Cinderella, most modern adaptations of this quintessential rags-to-riches tale rarely bring up the violent aspects. All of that has been long removed in favor of safer elements, such as fairy godmothers and anthropomorphic mice. Yet, when reimagining the flaxen servant-turned-princess as someone who seeks “bloody vengeance,” Tom Jolliffe looked to the past; the Cinderella’s Revenge screenwriter found inspiration in the character’s gruesome roots.

The Brothers Grimm did not come up with Cinderella (or Aschenputtel) all on their own, but their familiar variation provides part of the source material for Cinderella’s Revenge. Sometimes, living “happily ever after” means embarking on a blood-soaked path of revenge. That’s the case in the horror fairytale Cinderella’s Revenge. Directed by Andy Edwards (Zombie Spring Breakers), the film finds Lauren Staerck (Trust) having a helluva time as Rella until her fairy godmother shows up. That would be Natasha Henstridge (Species), who suggests there’s more to life than just nabbing Prince Charming, especially the shady one featured in Edwards’ gritty comedy horror film.

The story thus far: Cinderella’s (Staerck) wicked stepsisters and stepmother are throwing far too much shade. Somehow, our dear maiden winds up at the ball — nice touch having the “carriage” here come in the form of a Tesla — and her eyes twinkle with the prince and all that. Blacktop International has announced major territory sales here on horror Cinderella’s Revenge starring Lauren Staerck and Natasha Henstridge from Species.

Deals have closed for German-speaking Europe (Tiberius Film), Latin America (Great Movies), Nordics/Scandinavia (NjutaFilms), Middle East (Phoenicia Pictures), and Cis (Movie Distribution Network).

Brand-new photos and an eerie film trailer show off Cinderella's Revenge. Expect twists, turns, sex, and violence in this upgraded horror version of the classic fairy tale. Actress Lauren Staerck stars as Cinderella, with Natasha Henstridge playing a blonde and Californian fairy godmother.

“This ain’t no fairy tale.” The tagline for Cinderella’s Revenge sums up the horror comedy perfectly as the classic story gets a gruesome upgrade this spring. That wicked stepmother and those insufferable stepsisters have pushed poor Cinderella too far. And with a little help from Cinder’s Fairy Godmother, the glass-slipper-wearing heroine is going to paint the town red with their blood.

Andy Edwards directs Cinderella's Revenge, and he promises a horrifying upgrade with many of the same central elements from the original storyline making the film. But there will also be plenty of twists and turns to surprise fans of the source material.

Blacktop International has launched worldwide sales at AFM on Andy Edwards’ horror film Cinderella’s Revenge starring Lauren Staerck from Trust and Natasha Henstridge from Species.

The twisted take on the classic fairy tale produced by Sobini Films takes place as Cinderella’s (Staerck) wicked stepsisters and stepmother push her too far, triggering a vengeful rampage with the help of her Fairy Godmother (Henstridge).

The cast includes Stephanie Lodge, Beatrice Fletcher, Megan Purvis and Darrell Griggs. Sobini’s Mark Amin produces with Mark Lester, Cami Winikoff, and Jessica Mathis.

Exclusive: Dave Devries has joined Mark Amin and Cami Winikoff’s Sobini as Vice President, Deadline can reveal. In his new role, he will oversee development across film and TV for the company’s producing and financing endeavors.

"Three Blind Mice" is a horror retelling of the nursery rhyme, featuring human-sized rodents tormenting a family in a cabin in the woods. The film is being released by Uncork'd Entertainment, known for other horror features like "Mary Had a Little Lamb," promising bloody and disturbing Halloween entertainment. "Three Blind Mice" stars May Kelly, Lila Lasso, Natasha Tosini, Samantha Cull, and Danielle Ronald, and will be available on Digital and DVD from October 17th.

The nursery rhyme Three Blind Mice joins the growing list of horror retellings of popular children's tales. The upcoming creature feature of the same name arrives just in time for Halloween, landing on Digital and DVD on October 17, and the film's first brutal and bloody trailer has just dropped. Shared by Variety, the photos come from ITN Studios, the distributor of the controversial horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Cinderella's Curse is similarly a low-budget horror reimagining of a classic story previously popularized by Disney. This version is far different from the animated film, however, as is evident from the first-look photos. The first photo features a blonde actor wearing a blood-splattered white mask, while the second image reveals star Kelly Rian Sanson, who is similarly covered in grime and blood. A third image sees Sanson looking cleaner but much more horrified.

Cinderella is out for vengeance in Cinderella's Revenge, an upcoming horror film by Andy Edwards starring Lauren Staerck (Trust) and Natasha Henstridge (Species). In Disney's version of Cinderella (the most popular version of the classic children's tale), the heroine is pushed around by her evil stepmother and stepsisters but never acts violently against them. Things will look a little different in this retelling, and Cinderella will switch out her glass shoes and use the assistance of her Fairy Godmother to seek bloody vengeance.

In a statement to Deadline, who first reported the news, Sobini Films' Mark Amin said:

"Cinderella is the most famous fairy tale in the world. We were able to develop a great horror script that is also a female empowerment story with global appeal."

Staerck, best known for her roles in Trust, Bad Influencers and The P.A, will star as the titular character, while Natasha Henstridge will portray the Fairy Godmother.

Two new horror movies inspired by the folk tale Cinderella are currently in the works. In late May, the project Cinderella's Curse, which stars Curse of Humpty Dumpty 2's Kelly Rian Sanson, was announced with a planned release set for October. That movie is produced and directed by Louisa Warren, who previously collaborated with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey producer Scott Jeffrey on a horror movie about the Tooth Fairy.

Per Deadline, Cinderella's Curse will have some competition coming soon with the newly announced movie Cinderella's Revenge. Andy Edwards is directing the project, which is currently in production in the UK. It will follow Cinderella (Lauren Staerck) teaming up with her Fairy Godmother (Species' Natasha Henstridge) to enact bloody revenge on her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. There’s honestly not much more to it than I love Christmas and I love horror but there is something about a film that mixes the two together nicely. Nicely might not be the word I’d use with The Killing Tree, ridiculously would be much more apt.

Where do I start with The Killing Tree?! Originally known as what I think is a better title, Demonic Christmas Tree. Not dissimilar to the classic Christmas horror B-movie Jack Frost, where a serial killer returns as a snowman, this time, on Christmas Eve, the widow of a murderer who has been executed, casts a spell to resurrect him.
