The cast of the new series stepped out for the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Disclaimer on Thursday (October 10) in London, England.

Also in attendance were co-stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Kevin Kline, Leila George, Hoyeon Jung, Louis Partridge, and Adam El Hagar.

In a new interview, Alfonso explained why he cast Sacha and Kevin in the show despite them being known for their comedic roles.

We spoke a lot about collaborating, and sometimes he sent me projects, and everything that we were talking about was comedy, and we always wanted to work together. And it was not until here that I offered (a role) to him. And he was like, ‘But why me?...

In Alfonso Cuarón’s seven-part Apple TV+ limited series “Disclaimer,” Cate Blanchett plays Catherine Ravenscroft, an accomplished and award-winning documentary filmmaker whose life is upended when a book is published based on a fictionalized version of a difficult event from her past.

But one of the points of “Disclaimer” is that viewers themselves are also upended, as the Oscar-winning, Mexican-born director of “Children of Men,” “Gravity” and “Roma” juggles present-day scenes with flashbacks, allowing viewers to discover the relationships between characters on their own. The story also shifts between a first person, second person and third person perspective depending on what character is on the screen.

It’s an approach that requires viewers to untangle a lot of narrative threads as they follow Blanchett and Sacha Baron Cohen as the adult Catherine and Robert Ravenscroft, Leila George and Adam El Hagar as their younger versions and Kevin Kline and Lesley Manville...

Thomas Lawes plays a synth score on screen as a teen drama plays out above – a bold experiment that doesn’t fully work

Director Thomas Lawes is the proverbial one-man band on this modern silent movie. He has not only written, filmed, edited and composed the music, but is also visible playing the keyboards, guitars and drums of the synthwave score in split screen underneath the action, like a funky sign-language interpreter. It’s a kitsch formal quirk that initially adds a kind of distancing effect to this simple urban fable, but it quickly becomes invisible (presumably less so in screenings with live accompaniment).

AMC has announced the cast for its anthology drama series about the intersection of love and science, from Emmy-winning writer Will Bridges and Brett Goldstein.

Succession actress Sarah Snook, Billions star David Costabile and Sonya Cassidy are among the cast for the untitled project, which is made by Banijay’s Fearless Minds and AMC Studios. It is currently shooting in Madrid, Spain.

The six-part series takes place 15 years from now, when science makes a discovery that changes the lives of everyone on the planet – giving people a way to find their soulmate. Each of the six episodes features a different cast and explores an entirely new story based on the discovery.

Snook plays Nikki in the first episode, a suburban mother who becomes tortured by the knowledge that her soulmate is not her husband of 15 years.

“Succession” star Sarah Snook will topline the premiere episode of AMC’s untitled episodic anthology series from Brett Goldstein and “Black Mirror” writer Will Bridges.

The series is centered on the intersection of love and science. Per AMC, it takes place 15 years from now, when science makes a discovery that changes the lives of everyone on the planet — a way to find your soul mate. The series uses the sci-fi conceit to tell six provocative stories about the cost of finding true love, all different in tone and featuring a spectrum of people and relationships.

Each episode will feature an entirely new story and different cast, a first-time format for AMC.

We have the trailer for HBO’s upcoming miniseries Catherine The Great starring badass Helen Mirren in a role she was pretty much born to play. Mirren portrays the longest reigning Empress of Russia as she makes her mark expanding the Russian Empire, and becoming the most powerful female leader in history. The series follows the later years of her reign, as well as her famous love affair with Grigory Potemkin.

Mirren is joined by Jason Clarke (Pet Sematary) as Grigory Potemkin, as well as Georgina Beedle, Thomas Doherty, Andrew Rothney, Antonia Clarke, Phil Dunster, Adam El Hagar, Georgina Hale, and James Northcote. The trailer looks solid, and I don’t know much about the history of Catherine the Great, so I will be checking this out for sure.

HBO miniseries Catherine the Great will star Helen Mirren as the Enlightenment-era Russian monarch.

Catherine the Great is headed to HBO in the U.S. and Sky in the U.K. as a four-part television miniseries starring Helen Mirren (who will also direct and executive produce). She plays the eponymous Russian empress, whose late-18th-century reign is widely considered the Golden Age of the old Russian monarchy and a time of rapid rise for the country. Indeed, the miniseries focuses on Catherine's political machinations, chronicling her rise to power and subsequent rule.

Mirren will be joined by co-star Jason Clarke, who plays Grigory Potemkin, a Russian military leader who came into Catherine’s favor as a friend and trusted advisor, going back to his support for her during the 1762 coup, which removed her husband, Emperor Peter III, from the throne, leading to her ascension.
