Image
All the queen’s horses and all the queen’s dogs — what’s going to happen to Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved animals now that she has died?

And while her life was chock-full of impressive achievements and interests over the course of her 70-year reign, perhaps none was more enduring or long-spanning as her love for animals.

She's got great rhythm." Eve Pollard, who presents the program, gave a glimpse into the queen's favorite artists and songs and insists that her taste is "mainstream, no airs and graces," also revealing that she "enjoys a rousing singsong." Now that is something we'd love to see. For fun, we've put together a playlist of...

Sorry, Kate Middleton: Pregnant Duchess of Cambridge Excluded From U.K.'s 100 Most Powerful Women List
Catherine Princess of Wales
Here's some food for thought: Is Kate Middleton a powerful woman? No, according to BBC Radio's 4's first-ever Woman's Hour top 100 list, which named the 100 most powerful women in the U.K. and noticeably passed over the Duchess of Cambridge, calling her "influential" but not "powerful." Surprisingly enough, Kate's grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth took the top slot, followed by the U.K.'s Home Secretary Teresa May. Angela Ahrendts, the CEO of Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Adele, Stella McCartney and J.K. Rowling also nabbed spots in the top 100.  The list was compiled by a judging panel that included journalist Eve Pollard, conservative MP Priti Patel, Labour...

Queen Elizabeth is UK's most powerful woman
Queen Elizabeth has been voted Britain's most powerful woman. The 86-year-old monarch topped a poll by BBC Radio 4 show 'Woman's Hour' in what was their first ever power list. The queen - who celebrated her Diamond Jubilee last year - beat Home Secretary Theresa May into second place while Ana Botin, CEO of Santander, UK was third. The list was put together by a judging panel that included former newspaper editor Eve Pollard, Tory MP Priti Patel, Labour peer Oona King and crime novelist Val McDermid. Eve said: 'Most women on our list have power because they have reached a place where they have control - of policy, of direction, of influence, of staff. 'The panel also included some...

Claudia Winkleman: The quirky charm of TV's new film buff | Vanessa Thorpe
The presenter of Film 2010 served a long apprenticeship before landing this prime-time slot. No wonder she has a style very much her own

The kohl-rimmed eyes and the weighty fringe were probably the first things viewers noticed. Those key Winkleman trademarks were there from the very start, back in the late 1990s. Who is this unusual woman presenter, people asked, and why does she look at the camera sideways, as if tentatively sharing a joke?

Claudia Winkleman's new role as the host of Film 2010, coupled with a stint tonight on Strictly Come Dancing's main show while Bruce Forsythe recovers from flu – as well as her usual presenting job on the Strictly spin-off, It Takes Two – all mark a move up to the front ranks of the broadcasters' roll call of talent.

But how the presenter herself views her prestigious elevation is another matter. With a self-deprecatory...
