Sony Pictures brought it's upcoming comedy Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star to San Diego Comic-Con this year, in advance of it's September 9 release date. The movie stars Nick Swardson as the title character, a small-town grocery store bagger who discovers a life-changing secret: his mild-mannered parents were actually porn stars in the 1970s, which sets Bucky on a path to L.A. to discover his destiny. Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star comes to theaters September 9th, 2011 and stars Nick Swardson, Christina Ricci, Stephen Dorff, Don Johnson, Edward Herrmann, Pauly Shore, Dana Goodman, Meredith Giangrande. The film is directed by Tom Brady.

Hollywood is a weird place. Who all of a sudden decided Nick Swardson is a movie star? That's not a slam against Nick Swardson, he's a hilarious comedian, but like Zach Galifianakis, he has been around forever, and only now is he catching a bit of that brighter spotlight. Did 2006's Grandma's Boy leave that bad a taste in a lot of people's mouths? Yes, it did. But here, five years later, it is a bonafide, true cult hit.
