Hugh Jackman’s Reason for Turning Down James Bond Might Surprise You
Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman was almost 007.

The Australian actor opened up about what could have been in an interview with Variety. Jackman, who was sought as the replacement for Pierce Brosnan, said the scripts at the time were too “unbelievable.”

“I was about to do X-Men 2 and a call came from my agent asking if I’d be interested in Bond,” Jackman recalled. “I just felt at the time that the scripts had become so unbelievable and crazy, and I felt like they needed to become grittier and real.”

His suggestions didn’t make the cut, with the actor saying he was...

For 'The Last Ship' Star Bridget Regan, Slowing Down Isn't an Option (Exclusive)
Eric Dane in The Last Ship (2014)
Don’t tell Bridget Regan to take a day off.

“I’ve got that thing in me where I get really anxious and restless if I’m not working. I drive my agents and managers nuts because I’m like, ‘It’s Tuesday. I’m free. Can I get a job?’” Regan, star of TNT’s The Last Ship, says with a laugh. “I don’t like to stop. I don’t like to slow down.”

The 35-year-old actress is no stranger to juggling at least three or four television shows at any given time. Just last year, Regan was at one point balancing her duties on The Last Ship with Jane the Virgin and the since-canceled Agent Carter. Asked what inspires Regan to have the drive to stay hungry and strive for more, her reasoning is simple.

Logan Review: Excellent Jackman plus Lots of Violence and Expletives End Wolverine Trilogy with Big Bang
'Logan' movie with Hugh Jackman as the mutant Wolverine: 20th Century Fox's gamble results in one of the best superhero movies. 'Logan' movie review: 'Wolverine' trilogy concluded 'in surprising and rewarding fashion' The trailer for Logan, the final film in the standalone Wolverine trilogy, is set to Johnny Cash's funereal cover of “Hurt,” the already-depressing song by Nine Inch Nails. If there was ever a warning that a superhero film was going to trudge down a grim path, that's as unsubtle an indication as you're gonna get. It's a warning worth heeding, though. Logan is a long, grave, and violent neo-Western; a Dark Knight of the soul that earns its R-rating before its first scene is complete. For audiences whose appetite for Marvel's vaguely juvenile destructo-thons has congealed into cultural obligation and drudgery, Logan is a welcome expansion of what a superhero saga can be. And even...

Neruda – Review
Gael Garcia Bernal as Oscar Peluchonneau, the police detective tracking poet/politician Pablo Neruda in Neruda. Photo courtesy of The Orchard ©

Pablo Larrain gained attention with American audiences with his stunning drama Jackie, about Jackie Kennedy immediately after the assassination, but the Chilean-born director has another outstanding film opening in theaters now. The Spanish-language Neruda focuses on Nobel Prize winning poet, essayist and politician Pablo Neruda, a beloved national figure in his native Chile and throughout South America, who became a target of a political crackdown after WWII.

Neruda is both an entertaining and intellectually stimulating film. Rather than a conventional biopic, director Larrain tells this story as a chase, with the poet/politician pursued by a police detective played by Gale Garcia Bernal.. Neruda has a streak of dark humor and begins with strong film noir elements, which eventually give way to the surreal, while exploring Neruda’s life and work.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 10 Review: Scuttle
Easing the concerns of worried citizens who fear for the security and safety of their country is a high priority for many government officials who wish to stabilize society. So it comes as a complete shock when well-intentioned leaders uncover their boss and colleagues' deceit – their agenda is to cause more civil unrest.

Making a drastic change in the character and story arcs from the previous episodes of this season, the fast-paced turn of events in The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 10 threatened the futures of the White House staff.

While the American leaders stationed in both St. Louis and aboard the Nathan James are still focused on their foreign enemies, notably President Peng, the officials are finally realizing that they can't truly trust each other.

Tom maintained his courage and pride in defending not only himself, but his fellow Nathan James officers, this time against Joseph's unwarranted suspicions. But the...

This ‘Stranger Things’ Star Has a Voice for Broadway
Could a movie musical or a third—that’s right, third!—Broadway credit be next for this breakout star of “Stranger Things”? Gaten Matarazzo, age 13, became a fan favorite earlier this summer with the premiere of Netflix’s hit horror series from the Duffer brothers. Lucky for us, the young actor has more than a toothless smile and charming countenance to win us over: his Broadway-ready voice, for one. He breaks it out in the video below, taking the stage as Jean Valjean to sing “Bring Him Home.” Read: “How Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ Cast Its Kid Actors” Matarazzo is no stranger to the song’s source material, having already appeared in the Broadway revival as Gavroche and Petit Gervais. And his original Broadway debut came even before then, in “Priscilla Queen of the Desert.” With a résumé this impressive for a kid actor not even in high school yet,...

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 9 Review: Paradise
A deadly, worldwide virus naturally spurs tension and unrest between countries who are all struggling to secure a way to prevent their society from collapsing.

But when supposed allies begin to secretly betray each other just to protect their own self interests, the fate of humanity is frighteningly exposed.

Watch The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 9 Online

The revelations of the deceit government officials, from Chinese President Peng to Alex, the United States Secretary of Foreign Affairs, have taken were extremely satisfying in The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 9.

Those disclosures have helped make the episode one of the best entries in the post-apocalyptic series.

As Tom, Sasha, Wolf and Danny explore the Asian island they believe Peng used to create the missiles that are carrying the anti-cure, it's satisfying to finally see the proof that the Chinese leader really is working to solely protect his country.

The Chief of Naval Operations'...

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 8 Review: Sea Change
The untimely death of a seemingly heroic leader like President Michener is a tragedy that was supposed to bring not only the mourners in American together, but all of those who are grieving around the world.

But the news unfortunately proved once again how supposed allies are willing to quickly betray each other in times of despair.

Kara is unsurprisingly the main White House staff member who's having trouble accepting President Michener's death on The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 8. As Tom's aide in the White House, Kara was the person who made the harrowing discovery of the commander-in-chief's suicide.

In the change of power that follows President Michener's death, Kara is horrified that some of his supporters, especially Allison, want to overturn his policies. After the Chief of Staff admits to Kara that she had a personal relationship with him, Allison's bitterness over his suicide leads her to challenge his programs.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 6 Review: Dog Day
Safely rescuing their esteemed colleagues who bravely risk their lives to protect their country's freedoms and liberties is just one cherished and vital achievement people strive to accomplish while they're engaged in hostile international battles.

But that triumph is often just as, if not more, satisfying for those heroes as is their ability to completely defeat their callous enemies.

As Tom once again gallantly leads Sasha, Danny, Wolf and the rest of the officers from the Nathan James into adverse foreign territory in Asia during the tense plotline of The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 6, the U.S.'s Chief of Naval Operations grippingly puts his own life in danger.

The captain is so determined to liberate Mike and the other P.O.W. who are being held hostage by the pirates in Asia that he boldly and admirably leads the fight against Takehaya at the villain's home base.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Minefield
Finding an equally beneficial common ground with your most notorious enemy during a time of crisis can often times appear too good to be true.

Leaders often understandably strive to soothe their conflicts with their foes, in order to prevent a devastating conflict.

However, officials' mutual understanding can ultimately prove to be a false cover, if their rivals instead take a selfish action to secure their own success. During The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 5, U.S. President Jeffrey Michener, Co Cdr Tom Chandler and their fellow officers unsurprisingly discover that harrowing turn in alliances.

Throughout the current season so far, the U.S. Commander-in-Chief reasonably believed that he had the support of the Regional Leadership Committee as he commendably strived to support his citizens' reconstruction of their territories.

Tom, the temporary captain of the Nathan James, also understandably assumed that with his latest alliance with Chinese President Peng, he could safely pass through Asian waters.

On TV dramas, there often are figurative minefields. But, once in a while, there are the real kind.

The heroes of TNT’s The Last Ship (airing Sundays at 9/8c) are currently facing the latter, having sailed straight into the heart of a very deadly trap where they are surrounded by no less than “very special” mines, says series lead Eric Dane, whose Cno Tom Chandler has had to reclaim command of the titular Nathan James.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Devil May Care
Government leaders often face harrowing conflicts while in office, especially during times of international crisis. While they strive to compassionately reason with their country's supposed enemy, in order to maintain international peace, their neighbors at home are often left struggling to even recognize their decision to engage their foes.

As U.S. President Jeffrey Michener,  Co Cdr Tom Chandler and their fellow officials continue to try to stop a potential war with Asia in The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 4, the American public remains rightfully perplexed on why their leaders are seemingly helping the opponents who are posing the most damage to them.

The sci-fi series justly took a break during its latest episode from focusing on the brewing emotional clashes between Tom and his fellow government officials. Instead, the story intriguingly emphasizes how the Western leaders are trying to reason with their Asian counterparts, even though their efforts are drawing dire criticism at home.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 3 Review: Shanzhai
Beginning to passionately care about the motives of an antagonist who initially appeared to be self-serving and completely opposed to the commanding hero's goals is usually an unimaginable plot twist in successful and riveting television series.

But as Co Cdr Tom Chandler determinedly continues to search for the missing crew members of his former missile destroyer, the USS Nathan James, on The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 3, the rationale of the ship's enemy surprisingly begins to become understandable.

As the Chief of Naval Operations tries to track down the captives, the American public begins to question President Jeffrey Michener about whether the country is headed into war with China. They have doubts over their safety after hearing that Chinese President Peng has been withholding the virus' cure from the U.S.'s Asian allies.

With President Michener trying to soothe Americans' concerns about a possible war with China, Tom isn't afraid...

The Last Ship Season 3 Premiere Review: An Unexpected Threat
Determinedly fighting to stop a viral pandemic from spreading is a challenging prospect for many people, especially those who are struggling to just keep themselves alive.

But Eric Dane's daring character on the new third season of the post-apocalyptic series, The Last Ship, proves that' he's persistently trying to save the little humanity that remains.

The actor also proves that the captain he portrays, Co Cdr Tom Chandler, is now even more comfortable leading the fight against the people who are using the virus for their benefit.

Based on the 1988 novel of the same name by William Brinkley, the TNT drama series isn't afraid to launch the first two episodes of the third season with intense physical and emotional action.

The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 1, which is titled The Scott Effect, powerfully begins by showing Tom contending with the death of Dr. Rachel Scott. The paleomicrobiologist, who created the cure for the virus,...
