Denzel Washington reunites with Spike Lee in Highest 2 Lowest, a reinterpretation of Kurosawa’s High and Low. He will be seen playing David King, a Music mogul caught up in a ransom plot that spirals into ethical and moral turmoil. This project is reportedly set to earn him $35 million from its theatrical release on August 22, 2025, to when it starts streaming on Apple TV+ a few months later.
Here Comes the Flood, another of Washington’s releases in late 2025 to early 2026, is a Simon Kinberg script directed by Fernando Meirelles. Washington will join Daisy Edgar-Jones and Robert Pattinson in this heist-thriller on Netflix and earn $35 million for this project too. These lucrative paychecks shed light on the veteran actors’ continuous box office success and streaming popularity, even at the age of 70. It shows that people love his work and want to see him more.

The motocross heist movie, High Side, is reportedly eyeing a reunion between Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold (via Deadline), who previously nabbed eight Oscar nods for the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown. Given the critical success of their previous collaboration, it’s reasonable to see why they’d want to reunite again for a high-octane thriller.
Having already excelled in a variety of genres beforehand, Chalamet’s participation in the project will only add to his growing resume as one of the more revered, versatile performers of the new generation.

Mattson Tomlin may now be busy with projects in the Game of Thrones and DC universes, but prior to these titles, he nearly wrote for another famed fantasy franchise.
Tomlin isn’t a household name yet, but he’s making his mark as a Hollywood screenwriter. After projects like Project Power, he worked on the screenplay for 2022’s The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. He was also the showrunner for the Netflix Terminator Zero anime series.
Tomlin is keeping busy with the screenplay for The Batman 2, projects based on the hit Mega Man video games, and, of course, a show all about Aegon the Conqueror. In a recent social media post, he revealed that he once came close to writing a new movie in the Crow series.

James Gunn isn’t letting rumors fly as far as DC is concerned, certainly not when it comes to Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman 2 and any theories related to the Elseworlds sequel.
It has been quite a while since Warner Bros. had any positive updates on Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2, and the fans are getting antsy. Theories, however absurd, have begun to spread like wildfire, while those in charge, mainly James Gunn, are busy playing whack-a-mole with such claims before they grow into anything substantial.
With the advent of a new age at DC, online fan theories have grown more frequent vis-à-vis upcoming films, cast members of the Dcu, and potential plot points for popular projects in the pipeline. However, as long as Gunn is in charge, fans will have to master the art of patience, as the co-Chief of DC Studios is in...

Superman director and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn is back on Threads, and this time offered some minor updates on a few upcoming projects.
Despite repeatedly saying that The Brave and the Bold and Batman are a priority for DC Studios following Superman's release, the filmmaker started by confirming he and Peter Safran still haven't cast the next Caped Crusader. It's clear now that we're unlikely to see the hero make a cameo appearance in next year's Clayface movie, despite it being set in the Dcu.
Gunn also addressed persistent rumours that Hush is the main villain in Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II. While he didn't flat-out debunk the character's involvement in the long-delayed sequel, he also cautioned that fans shouldn't believe everything they read online.
Thomas Elliot would be a fitting choice of big bad for Reeves' next movie. Still, with production expected to begin early next year,...

James Gunn sets the record straight regarding who the DC villain will be in The Batman 2. After taking on The Riddler in 2022's The Batman, Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight will be facing new threats in The Batman 2 story, as Matt Reeves is getting ready to expand his Elseworlds-based franchise.
To this point, no new actors have joined The Batman 2 cast at the time of this article's publication, as specific details on the new storyline for the highly anticipated sequel have been kept under wraps. However, that is not stopping rumors from emerging online about who may be Batman's next enemy in Reeves' universe.
As Gunn uses his social media presence to sometimes address when a report is false, DC fans regularly ask him about various rumors. A fan recently asked Gunn on Threads if there is any truth to the DC Comics villain Hush being in The Batman 2.

New footage reveals a key scene from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey a year before its release. Inspired by Homer's legendary epic, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as the King of Ithaca, alongside Tom Holland (Telemachus), and Charlize Theron (Circe). They join a group of actors with unspecified roles, including Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, and Lupita Nyong'o.
The movie will feature Odysseus' long journey home in the aftermath of the legendary Trojan War. After enraging Poseidon and other Greek gods, Odysseus is forced to roam the oceans on a decade-long mission to return to Ithaca. It is expected to be released on July 17, 2026 and reportedly has a tremendous $250 million budget.
As Christopher Nolan is renowned for relying on practical effects and on-set filming, The Odyssey is currently being filmed around the world. One TikTok user, Luca Pizzoleo, captured one important scene, featuring Odysseus' ship. The scene features flashing lights,...

Superheroes like Batman originate in comic books, where the only limits on their costumes are what the artist can imagine. A comic's pencillers, inkers, and colorists control everything, from the costume's contours to the way the lighting of a panel brings out its colors -- and all they need is pens and paper.
Costume designers in superhero movies have the same task but deal with hurdles artists never do. "Batman" comics always depict the hero with white eyelids on his mask, while the movies leave Batman's eyes exposed so the actor can properly emote in the mask. You've also got to account for comfort, which means making the Batman mask's eyeholes big enough that some skin around the eyeholes is exposed. When Adam West played Batman, there was no attempt to hide that. In 1989's "Batman," though, Michael Keaton wore...

There Will Be Blood has widely been regarded as one of the greatest films of all time and has earned the third spot on the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century list (via The New York Times). But Quentin Tarantino has a bone to pick with it, and it specifically has to do with Paul Dano’s performance.
The Paul Thomas Anderson directorial stars the three-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview, and Dano plays dual roles, as Paul and Eli Sunday. Most would say that Dano was absolutely amazing in the film, but during a segment with Sky Movies, Tarantino expressed his disapproval (via James Whale Bake Sale).
Not that the performance is bad, there’s nothing bad about it, it just does seem a compromise.
While Tarantino praised the movie overall, his dismissal of such a brilliant performer sparked debate. So, let’s look at how Dano nailed the role,...

With enthusiastic reviews and smashing box office receipts, James Gunn's "Superman" has revived the DC Universe for a new generation of fans. His colorful, hope-punk take on the Man of Steel seems to have struck a chord with the majority of moviegoers interested in the future of this franchise. That isn't to say there aren't those missing the dark, epic melodrama of Zack Snyder's "Justice League" or the grounded thrills of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy.
For fans in the latter camp, you're in luck. In addition to preserving films like Matt Reeves' distinct "Batman" films in their own Elseworlds continuity, Gunn has also shared that even the movies in his interconnected DC Cinematic Universe will vary wildly in terms of tone and content. There is no better example of how this dynamic will work than the comics themselves, where the mainstream stories of the DC Universe exist alongside the daring,...

The Sandman Season 2 on Netflix wrapped its epic story with Volume 2’s release on July 24, 2025. Showrunner Allan Heinberg has just revealed that Robert Pattinson was briefly considered to make an appearance as Batman in the final season of the show.
Talking to Variety about infusing DC superheroes into The Sandman’s lore, Heinberg shared:
We talked about, ‘Does Robert Pattinson want to come to the funeral?’ Briefly, we did discuss that, but only briefly.
If Batman and his signature cowl were to make an appearance, it would’ve been as one of the mourners during the funeral scene. However, the cameo never materialized. The idea fizzled out almost as soon as it came up, as explained by Heinberg. However, another DC superhero made his way into the lore.

Christopher Nolan fans, rejoice — one of his most beloved and emotionally resonant films is now available to stream for free. Interstellar, the 2014 sci-fi epic that launched tears across galaxies and wormholes, is currently streaming on Pluto TV, giving fans and first-timers alike the perfect excuse to revisit (or finally experience) the time-bending tale of love, loss, and gravity. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain, Interstellar follows a former pilot and engineer named Cooper (McConaughey) who joins a mission through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity — all while trying to find his way back to his daughter Murph (Chastain), even as time itself slips away from him. It’s science fiction at its most ambitious, but also a deeply personal story of family and sacrifice.
The film features a powerhouse ensemble including Michael Caine, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, and a surprise appearance by Matt Damon.

Though the connections became more tenuous as the series went on, Neil Gaiman's The Sandman was very much set within the main DC Comics Universe, with appearances from the likes of Martian Manhunter, Mr. Miracle, and even Batman, who showed up at Morpheus' funeral in "The Wake."

Fans have been waiting with baiting breath for the script of The Batman II, the sequel of Matt Reeves’ 2022 hit starring Robert Pattinson. Now that Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin have finished the script, the anticipation for the film is even bigger, and so is the anticipation of what the writers are doing next. It seems like Tomlin has already started working on his next project.
On X (formerly Twitter), when a fan asked Tomlin, “If you could write about another hero, who would it be?” The scribe cryptically said, “you’ll see.” While it’s great news for fans, the question arises which hero he is writing about and whether it’ll be set in James Gunn’s Dcu or Reeves’ Elseworlds.

Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey" is currently shooting on location all around the world. Matt Damon is playing Odysseus, with Tom Holland portraying Odysseus' son, Telemachus. In addition, Charlize Theron is reported to be playing Circe, while the film boasts a giant cast of huge celebrities, including Zendaya, Anne Hatheway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, and many others besides. Filming has taken place in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco, and various locations around Greece. Some scenes were filmed on Sicily, and others were filmed in the woods of Scotland or at a studio in Los Angeles. It appears that Nolan wanted to re-visit the real locations of the Mediterranean where "The Odyssey" takes place. Well, Scotland and L.A. notwithstanding.
According to a new report from Deadline, however, Nolan has filmed "The Odyssey" in a location that is politically problematic.

Jason Momoa is getting ready to get back into character for Dune: Part Three and filmed himself shaving his facial hair.
In a new video posted on social media, the Aquaman actor said the last time he had shaved was for the first film.
“Only for you, Denis,” Momoa says in the video, giving a shoutout to Dune director Denis Villeneuve.
After Momoa shaved off his facial hair, he looked at himself and said, “Goddamnit, I hate it!”
Dune was first released in 2021, where Momoa played the role of Duncan Idaho, a swordmaster of House Atreides and a mentor to Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Momoa didn’t appear in the sequel, released in 2024, but will return for Dune: Part Three, which is expected to open in theaters on December 18, 2026.

After starring opposite Paul Mescal in Gladiator II to close out 2024, one Denzel Washington-led movie that’s over 25 years old has made a shocking return to streaming charts. Washington stars alongside John Goodman (The Big Lebowski) and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games) in Fallen, the 1998 supernatural police procedural following detective John Hobbes (Washington), an officer who witnesses the execution of a serial murderer, only to see his killings mysteriously resume after his death. Fallen has become a global streaming sensation of late, charting in countries such as the Dominican Republic, among others. The film was panned by critics, who gave it a 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it landed a kinder 72% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. The budget for Fallen is unknown, but it grossed $25 million at the global box office upon release.

Henry Cavill would like to turn Red Dead Redemption 2 into a movie and star in it! Yes, we know it’s old news, but when the actor expressed his interest in a live-action adaptation of Rockstar Games’ epic western during a red carpet interview, fans couldn’t be more thrilled (via Game Reactor).
RDR2 was released in 2018, and due to its rich open-world play, along with the story of Arthur Morgan, it is still cited as one of the best video games ever made! Bringing this masterpiece to the screen is no easy feat, but with Cavill’s name attached to it, alongside James Mangold, and the right creative team, it could easily become one of the most successful adaptations ever made.

This past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con was one of the worst in recent memory for news (most studios release their trailers before the event), but there are still lots of interesting tidbits floating around for fans of the MCU and Dcu.
We'll start this roundup with a new social post from Superman director James Gunn. The horrifying Mr. Handsome—who acted as Lex Luthor's slave in his pocket universe—has intrigued fans, with some speculating that he might be a White Martian, for example.
In a post featuring several new behind-the-scenes photos, Gunn explained, "Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 - he was trying to make a human. He didn't come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the world Lex has any true sentiment for, as evidenced by the photo on his desk."

James Gunn shares an update on whether Robert Pattinson's Batman will be integrated into the DC Universe. As DC Studios works on a new movie for Batman set in Gunn's Dcu timeline, Matt Reeves' The Batman universe is also ongoing and set under the separate Elseworlds banner. Pattinson will reprise the role in The Batman 2, which will begin filming at the end of 2025.
However, some DC audience members have made it clear that they want to see Pattinson's take on The Dark Knight join the Dcu rather than exist outside of it. While Gunn has commented on casting Batman for the Dcu with a separate actor, many are still holding out hope for Pattinson's Bruce Wayne to join DC Studios' main continuity.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gunn was asked if there had been any consideration toward bringing Pattinson's Batman into the Dcu alongside David Corenswet's Superman.

Christopher Nolan's new film The Odyssey has experienced a new hiccup. After a major cast shakeup not long ago, the movie has just attracted some backlash.

Filming originally started in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco, but it featured different locations in Greece, as well as Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. However, in late July, the crew filmed several scenes in the Morocco-occupied Dakhla, Western Sahara. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already a complex story to film without the Oscar-winning director being urged to shut down filming and move to a new location by the Western Sahara International Film Festival. The criticism of Nolan shooting his next potential awards darling have come as he filmed scenes for the upcoming epic in the Morrocco-occupied area near the city of Dakhla, a “non-self-governing territory” as designated by the Un in 1963.
Nolan is certainly not the first filmmaker to set up cameras at the location to use its sandy backdrops and burning vistas to be witnessed on cinema screens and TV. One of the most recent projects to be filmed there was Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time, although with the cancellation of the series those cameras will not be returning to the area. Christopher Nolan has been busy filming his 2026 epic “The Odyssey” in various parts of the world. But according to the Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara), he would not be shooting in Dakhla if he knew how Moroccan forces allegedly treat the indigenous Sahrawi population.
FiSahara issued a public statement last week urging the director to halt filming on his Universal Pictures adaptation of Homer’s poem that stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Logan Marshall-Green, Jon Bernthal and Charlize Theron.
“Dakhla is not just a beautiful location with cinematic sand dunes. Primarily, it is an occupied, militarized city whose indigenous Sahrawi population is subject to brutal repression by occupying Moroccan forces,” the festival shared last Tuesday. “Stop filming in Dakhla and stand in solidarity with the indigenous Sahrawis who have been under military occupation for 50 years, and who are routinely jailed and tortured...

Christopher Nolan has been criticized for shooting elements of Universal’s all-star epic The Odyssey in Morocco-occupied Western Sahara.
Earlier this month, the British director filmed for four days near the coastal city of Dakhla, which is part of a region that the United Nations has designated as a “non‑self‑governing territory” since 1963.
Western Sahara, which has become a magnet for big-budget shoots like the Prime Video series The Wheel of Time, is not legally part of Morocco, but the U.S. and UK are among Western governments to recently endorse the North African nation’s claim over the land.
The Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara), which takes place in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, called on Nolan to urgently halt shooting in the region. Universal has been contacted for comment.

James Gunn just can’t seem to let Bat-Mite go, and honestly, we’re here for it. The tiny, chaotic character from DC’s stranger side keeps popping up in conversations, and now Gunn’s even joking about throwing him into Robert Pattinson’s gritty Batman world.
Speaking recently with HBO, Gunn laughed about the idea of Bat-Mite going toe-to-toe with Pattinson’s Caped Crusader. “I talked to Matt Reeves yesterday, I’ll talk to him today, I’ll call him and go ‘how about Bat-Mite??’ Matt’s gonna love that idea!” he joked.
This isn’t the first time Bat-Mite’s name has been tossed around. There were rumors he might show up in Peacemaker Season 2, but Gunn quickly shut those down on Threads. Another time, when host Josh Horowitz joked about Bat-Mite getting his own series, Gunn played along, saying, “Yeah, the HBO Bat-Mite show. $150 million an episode.

James Gunn is once again having fun with the idea of Bat-Mite, the tiny, reality-bending goof and a menace from another dimension, and this time he’s joking about throwing him into Robert Pattinson’s world.
Gunn recently spoke to HBO and joked that Bat-Mite should fight Pattinson’s Batman.
“I talked to Matt Reeves yesterday, I’ll talk to him today, I’ll call him and go ‘how about Bat-Mite??’ Matt’s gonna love that idea!”
Bat-Mite has been coming up more and more lately in DC conversations, even if mostly as a joke. At one point, there were rumors that he’d appear in Peacemaker Season 2, but Gunn shut those down quickly on Threads.
Josh Horrowitz joked about Bat-Mite getting his own show, and Gunn played along, replying, “Yeah, the HBO Bat-Mite show. $150 million an episode.”
For those who don’t know, Bat-Mite is a pretty odd character.

Who hasn't wanted to set foot in the world of DC Comics? So long as you have superpowers, living in the constantly collapsing Metropolis or the dark and dingy Gotham City doesn't seem that bad. For those who'd rather spend a night in a cell with Killer Croc than actually live in Gotham, DC is offering fans a great alternative. Lego and Batman are two peas in a pod that have worked together for years. But the latest collaboration between the two brands is bringing one of Gotham's creepiest and most iconic locations to life.

For the longest time, The Dark Knight was considered the best Batman movie for testing the Caped Crusader to the extreme, in terms of his strength, ethics, morality, and integrity as the savior of Gotham. The film was so marvelous in all its aspects that it even won Heath Ledger an Oscar, the first in the Academy’s history to be awarded to an actor for playing a comic book villain.
However, the status of The Dark Knight as a universal favorite might be about to change. The film, which was released 17 years prior, now faces some serious competition from other DC projects that have arrived since 2008. The comic book live-action universe has faced darker, crueler, and more vindictive versions of the Bat, and one of those renditions may be finally overtaking Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece on account of its own merit.

Twenty years after Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire first brought dragons, mermaids, and a reborn Lord Voldemort to the big screen, Warner Bros. is bringing the fan-favorite film back to theaters. As part of this year’s Back to Hogwarts global celebration, the fourth installment of the beloved fantasy franchise will return to cinemas worldwide in a limited theatrical re-release — just in time for its 20th anniversary. Originally released in 2005 and directed by Mike Newell, Goblet of Fire marked a turning point for the series. Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts plunges him into the perilous Triwizard Tournament, alongside Cedric Diggory (played by Robert Pattinson in his breakout role) and champions from other magical schools. But it’s the final act — where Ralph Fiennes makes his chilling debut as a fully reborn Voldemort — that cements the film’s legacy as a major tonal shift for the franchise.

(Rumor) The next Lego Game by Tt Games is heavily rumored to be a Movie Based Batman title that will span multiple movies across the Caped Crusader’s career. It is reported to potentially be revealed next month at Gamescom Onl on August 19th.

On June 17, 2025, at the tail end of a long search, Dcu commander-in-chief James Gunn announced that Tom Rhys Harries was officially cast as Clayface. Although originally meant to be a part of Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson‘s Elseworlds franchise, the Gotham villain will now be taking up permanent residence in the Chapter One prime timeline.
Meanwhile, Harries’s casting piqued the curiosity of DC fans all over the world due to the Welsh actor’s relative anonymity in Hollywood. Now, his recent spy action thriller, Kandahar, is soaring on streaming platforms as fans try to become familiar with his work before Clayface lands in Dcu.
Despite the dismal ratings that Kandahar suffered in the 2 years since its release, the DC casting has indirectly raised Gerard Butler‘s spy profile on HBO as the film now dominates at #3 in the streamer’s top 10 movies charts by FlixPatrol as of July...

The upcoming DC Universe movie Clayface may have found its female lead, and all it took was for DC Studios to journey to a galaxy far, far away.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Naomi Ackie is the top choice for the female lead role in Clayface. Sources state that, following reading sessions last week in England, DC is due to begin formal negotiations with the actor this week. If cast, Ackie would become the second actor to board the Dcu project, after Tom Rhys Harries, who was tapped back in June to play the titular shapeshifting Batman villain. While no character details for Ackie's role were shared, she will likely be playing scientist Dr. Caitlin Bates, an original character created specifically for Clayface, who was first mentioned in a recent report on the movie by Nexus Point News. THR alludes to Dr. Bates in its article, mentioning her only as...

Superman, directed by James Gunn, has enjoyed positive reactions from audiences and critics alike, though this success appears not to have translated into auspicious box office results across global markets. While Warner Bros, Gunn, and devoted fans maintain the film will break even and recoup its investment, the reality appears increasingly clear: it might not surpass Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel after all. This disappointing trajectory raises questions about launching yet another DC universe when previous attempts have faltered. Let’s examine how Superman compares to other franchise openers!

Jason Momoa had a proud Dad moment at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series, which has been compared to Game of Thrones, as he took the opportunity to rave about his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, being cast in a key role in Dune: Part Three. Momoa's offspring will make his film debut in the third installment of Denis Villeneuve's epic space opera trilogy alongside his father, who is reprising his role as swordsmaster Duncan Idaho despite the character's heroic sacrifice in the first film adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi novel.
News broke in June that Nakoa-Wolf had joined the cast of Dune: Part Three, having signed on for a significant role alongside Ida Brooke. The two stars will be playing Leto II and Ghanima, the twin offspring of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), heirs to the Atreides empire. The teenage son of Jason Momoa...
