Attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative & Performing Arts with Tony Award winner Leslie Odom, Jr. Other alums include Jazmine Sullivan, Mark Webber, Karen Malina White, and Boys II Men.

During his junior year of high school, he was chosen to be a student in the William H. Cosby Future Filmmakers Workshop at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

In 2006, he directed and adapted an authorized stage rendition of the Spike Lee classic motion picture, "School Daze" for a performance at a North Carolina college.

First movie experience was a background role in "Twelve Monkeys", which starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt.

In April 2010, an award was named in honor of Robert X. Golphin. The "Robert X. Golphin 'Young Man of Purpose' Award" was presented at the 1st Annual BEFY Education and Networking Symposium in Wilson, NC. The award will also be presented in April 2011.

Robert X. Golphin earned a "Best Actor" nod for his role in "Punch Me" at the 2011 Atlantic City CineFest. The film also earned a "Best Drama" nod.

Robert graduated with a B.A. (Magna cum Laude) in Theatre & Film from Saint Augustine's University (North Carolina).

Robert X. Golphin holds an MFA in Screenwriting (Spalding University).

In Autumn 2021, Robert was selected as a North Carolina HBCU Honoree for his "leadership, courage, and audacious spirit", representing St. Augustine's University of Raleigh, at the NC HBCU Living Legends Scholarship Gala in Charlotte.

Voted "Most Likely To Win A Nobel Prize" by the staff and student body of his high school.
