- Irish dramatist and screenwriter, a former actor. In London from the early 1900's. Several of his plays were adapted for the screen. He wrote film scripts from 1922 and was active in Hollywood (1934-1939) under contract to MGM. Subsequently returned to Britain, working first at Elstree and then for the Ministry of Information on wartime propaganda.
- The play by Monckton Hoffe opened on Broadway October 10, 1922 and ran for only 31 performances.
