His interest in Alternative Threrapies came as a result of his young daughter's diagnosis of a rare form of cancer. Convinced that his daughter's Alternative Program helped with the quality of her life, he and his wife "Sharkey" set off to research the field, and thus he put his acting career temporarily on hold. His book "Third Opinion" (1988) is an International Directory to the Alternative Therapy Centers for the Treatment and Prevention of Cancer and Other Degenerative Diseases. It is the only comprehensive directory of its type. It has been updated in later editions.
