CBS’ The Late Show franchise lasted 33 years, but Bobbi Althoff’s absurdist The Really Good Podcast is signing off after 2 1/2 years.
And, no, costs aren’t to blame, nor are anti-Trump jokes. Rather, Althoff has simply decided to pull the plug.
Althoff, who started as a vlogger on TikTok providing advice to new moms, made a 180-degree turn to doing sit-downs with prolific guests on The Really Good Podcast including Jimmy Kimmel, Shaquille O’Neal, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Mark Cuban, Offset, Peso Pluma, Michael Cera and more. Her deadpan-uncomfortable Valley Girl shtick had her asking fearless questions that made her guests bristle. Often, part of the bit was being rather clueless of her guests’ feats.

Glen Powell may be closing the door on ever joining the ranks of superpowered heroes in the Marvel or DC universes.
In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, the Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters star revealed he's not particularly drawn to roles that involve capes, cosmic powers, or mutant abilities.
“I just don’t identify with people with superpowers for the most part,” Powell explained, discussing what led him to take on the role of Richards in the upcoming remake of The Running Man. “I like the ordinary guy against extraordinary odds. The entire world is hunting this man, trying to kill him. Can he survive? Can he save his family? That’s a great, simple story.”
Powell's comments seem to dash fan hopes of seeing him play characters like Aquaman or Nova, popular choices in recent fancast discussions.

The Phoenician Scheme
Director: Wes Anderson
Starring: Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, F. Murray Abraham, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, and Bill Murray
Rating: Can’t Be Rated
I don’t like the cinema of Wes Anderson. It reminds me of those disjointed incoherent self consciously capricious film-school projects where the student wants to let the world he doesn’t care a fig about the rules.
Continuing his flabbergasting quest for the crest of quirkiness, Wes Anderson has now come up with The Phoenician Scheme a film that rattles all rationale and stirs up a storm in a teacup. Like other Anderson oddities this one too is visualized in cartoonstrip colours, mostly pale green, and a mood of mythologized satire , which itself is problematic for any serious viewing.

A new image for Glen Powell's The Running Manhas been unveiled. Based on Stephen King's survival thriller of the same name, the upcoming movie adaptation sees Powell in a Squid Game-like plot, where he plays an ordinary man who enters a deadly televised game to win money to save his family.
Slated to arrive in theaters on November 7, The Running Man is helmed by Baby Driver director Edgar Wright. Joining Powell in the cast are Lee Pace as Evan McCone, Josh Brolin as Dan Killian, Michael Cera as Elton, Katy O'Brian as Laughlin, Colman Domingo as Bobby Thompson, and many others.
Now, Empirehas unveiled a new image from the movie, featuring Powell seemingly training for the competition. The actor can be seen running in front of a screen in a white suit, as opposed to the hooded jacket he wears in the game, which was previously featured in the official trailer.

Mattel Studios is moving forward with a new Barbie film coming to theaters. The news comes two years after the company reached immense success with the release of Margot Robbie's Barbie.

While there have been a variety of animated Barbie movies in the past, this will be the first time that one has ever been set for a theatrical release. Reportedly, Universal Pictures will distribute the new Barbie film. An exact release date has not yet been revealed.
No other details are known about the project other than that it will be animated. There are no voice actors or filmmakers yet attached to the project, and it's also unclear if it will be connected to the Robbie-led film. With his highly contrasting and colorful worlds, Wes Anderson is an acclaimed director who recently released a film titled The Phoenician Scheme. Despite a stellar cast of Benicio del Toro (Sicario), Michael Cera (Superbad), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), the film missed one of its most important marks: oligarchy.
Many people claim that the movie was about materialistic wealth or what the work industry is like right now. Although they aren’t wrong to point out all those things, it seems that Wes Anderson couldn’t fully explore the oligarchy part of his movie.

The Phoenician Scheme is finally winding down its theatrical run after grossing $35 million at the worldwide box office, but the film just got easier for everyone to watch, even at home. Universal Pictures has officially announced that The Phoenician Scheme is now available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Prime Video or Fandango at Home. To celebrate the news, Collider has even partnered with the studio to bring you an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette showing director Wes Anderson sing the praises of leading star Benicio del Toro, and also explain how he settled on casting a relative newcomer among a roster of stars like Mia Threapleton. The featurette, along with information about the film’s digital release, can be found below.
In addition to del Toro and Threapleton, Anderson recruited a star-studded roster of talent to bring The Phoenician Scheme to life, though this isn’t uncommon for the director.

Scarlett Johansson's so money — and now everyone knows it.
With an assist from some rampaging dinosaurs, the Oscar-nominated actress is officially Hollywood's highest grossing lead actor at the worldwide box office, surpassing previous record-holder (and fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran) Samuel L. That data comes fresh from the box office tracking site The Numbers, which lists Johansson's cumulative global gross at $14.8 billion versus Jackson's $14.6 billion.
The extra bump can be credited to Jurassic World: Rebirth, which roared its way to an opening weekend tally of $318.3 at the worldwide box office and $147.3 million in the U.S. alone. Despite largely mixed reviews, the seventh installment in the Jurassic franchise proves that audiences young and old still enjoy seeing famous faces like Johansson and Rebirth costars Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali running...

They're sex-obsessed, eager to drink as much as possible, and desperate to prove that they're as cool as their peers ... even though, c'mon, it's high school. No one's cool.
"Superbad" catapulted its leads to stardom, but the behind-the-scenes story of the movie was just as impactful on the comedy scene of that decade. In addition to being produced by Judd Apatow, "Superbad" was written by Seth Rogen and his childhood friend Evan Goldberg, and their unmistakable comedic sensibility would go on to influence the whole genre.

HBO is rebooting the Harry Potter franchise for television, and to say it's been a controversial ride so far would be understating it. From J.K. Rowling's close association with the show to the entirely new main cast, it seems fans of the franchise have been struggling to come to terms with the upcoming TV adaptation. However, some are far less legitimate reasons than others, especially when it comes to the casting of an iconic character. Despite Harry Potter ultimately being a story about the dangers of prejudice, some "fans" have been unjustifiably angry at the reboot casting a Black actor as Professor Severus Snape.
While speaking with Collider during FanExpo in Denver, Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs discussed the online "racist" backlash when Paapa Essiedu was cast as Professor Snape in the reboot. Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the film franchisie, is not returning for the HBO series.

Wes Anderson Hits Career Low With The Phoenician Scheme’s Underwhelming Box Office Run ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
The Phoenician Scheme marked a return to familiar territory for Wes Anderson, but the results have not gone his way this time. He enjoyed a steady rhythm for years with the help of his controlled budgets, banking on his loyal audience and dependable box office returns. However, that rhythm broke after the pandemic as his recent films have not kept pace, and The Phoenician Scheme is on track to become his weakest performer in nearly twenty years.

The Phoenician Scheme Struggles At The Box Office
The film has made $18 million in the US and added another $17 million from international markets, putting its global total at $36 million, per Box Office Mojo. It barely covers the costs of a production budget of $30 million.

Director Wes Anderson appeared to be in quite a comfortable position until some years ago. He’d make his inimitable movies on controlled budgets and deliver dependable results at the box office. But things changed after the pandemic, as they did for the entire industry. Only one of his three post-pandemic releases has managed to pass the $50 mark worldwide, and his latest, The Phoenician Scheme, is poised to conclude its run having fallen significantly short of expectations. In fact, the ensemble drama is his lowest-grossing film in nearly two decades.
With $18 million domestically and another $17 million from overseas markets, the film’s cumulative global haul currently stands at $35 million. The Phoenician Scheme was produced on a reported budget of $30 million, which is roughly the same amount that Anderson’s last two films — The French Dispatch and Asteroid City — also cost. Exclusive: Random House has taken the North American rights off the table to I’m on the Moon, the debut comedy memoir by former Late Show and Late Night With David Letterman producer Daniel Kellison.
The deal was sealed ahead of a scheduled auction that had already attracted offers from several major publishers.
Originally titled The Fuck-Up—a name that reflected Kellison’s own self-perception during those formative years—the memoir now goes by I’m on the Moon. It chronicles Kellison’s darkly funny and wildly unlikely journey from being raised by a four-time-divorced Vermont hippie mom and a one-eyed babysitter, to taking a hit of acid and deciding, with sudden clarity, that he had to work for his hero, David Letterman. “From the ominous glow of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant to the bright lights of 30 Rock…”

Virtually any film fan worth his salt at this point will know what the label “a Wes Anderson film” means. It means distinctive color pallets, symmetrical framing, children acting like adults, and adults acting like children. It means consistently fantastic casts littered with indie cinema legends and, underneath all the style, deeply moving family dramas populated with touching universal truths.
His style is everywhere, not just in every frame, shot, and edit of his nine meticulously crafted feature films but also in the work of his imitators, such as Taika Waititi or Noah Baumbach. Love him or hate him, Anderson fills a void in modern Hollywood for unique, mercilessly singular artists crafting films with irreplicable passion and attention to detail. We decided to delve into Wes Anderson’s complete catalog, ranking his films from worst to best.

The Running Man is back in cinemas this winter, only this time, Edgar Wright has made it. Here’s the trailer.
This November sees the release of The Running Man courtesy of Paramount Pictures, marking Edgar Wright’s follow-up to 2021’s Last Night In Soho and adding yet another spin on a Stephen King novel to the glut of adaptations that we’ve been getting lately.
Stephen King’s novel is a pretty dark affair. He even wrote it under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman, a pen name that allowed him to exercise a more cynical and nasty streak to his work. While that may yet prove to be the case with the final film, the first trailer is presented in a hyper-kinetic style with several signature Edgar Wright flourishes. In short, it looks like it’s going to be a good time at the movies.

Ashton Hall is back with one of his insane morning routines, and this time he has brought Glen Powell along for the ride.
Yeah, you read that right. The actor who seems to be on every casting director’s radar these days decided to go all out for his upcoming film’s marketing, as he collaborated with Ashton Hall to promote the trailer’s release.
In the video, Hall begins his routine by dunking his face in ice water at 8:42 Am. By 8:54, he is seen working on creating the “Glen Powell ‘Running Man’ Training Routine.” Apparently, the routine focuses on running endurance, explosive power, and, of course, sprint performance.
Two minutes past 9 Am, Hall finally met Powell, and the two began working out, dressed in Hall’s iconic black vests. From push-ups to sprints, they do it all. Towards the end, Hall is seen entering the movie theater,...

The first trailer for The Running Man raced online earlier today, and Entertainment Weekly (via SFFGazette.com) has since caught up with filmmaker Edgar Wright and the movie's cast to learn more about what to expect from this latest adaptation of the Stephen King novel.
The site explains that the movie begins when Powell's unemployed construction worker, Ben Richards, is forced to enter a game show where contestants are tasked with surviving for as long as they can in an America where anyone is allowed to kill them. The game ends after 30 days, and the longer they survive, the more money they'll make.
The catch is, no one has made it that far because they're quickly taken down by a group of trackers and assassins called the Hunters.
Richards sets out to get the money he and his wife Sheila (Jayme Lawson) need for their sick daughter's medicine, making the stakes higher than ever.

Published under King’s pen name Richard Bachman, The Running Man is set in a near-future society, where a game show of the same name is the highest-rated on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward.

When Stephen King wrote The Running Man back in 1982 under his nom-de-plume Richard Bachman, the year 2025 felt so impossibly distant that it was possible to imagine a dystopia where expert assassins hunted innocent men for sport on the most popular television show in America. And while reality TV hasn’t sunk to that low quite yet, Hollywood couldn’t resist bringing King’s unique fusion of The Fugitive, The Truman Show, and The Hunger Games back to the big screen this year.

The full trailer for The Running Man is finally here, and it’s already making waves. Directed by Edgar Wright, this new version of the story looks intense, gritty, and full of action. It’s not a remake of the old 1987 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Instead, it’s based more closely on the original 1982 novel by Stephen King, written under his pen name, Richard Bachman.
Glen Powell plays Ben Richards, the main character who ends up on a brutal game show where survival is the only way to win. Contestants get hunted down on live TV while the world watches. If they make it out alive, they get a big cash prize. But most don’t. The whole thing takes place in a broken-down future where the show is the biggest thing on television, and people are glued to it.

Somehow, 2025 is halfway over, and as alarming as that might be, it does bring us all that much closer to another Oscar season. The first six months of the year featured not only some stellar films, but a handful of potential nominees that could linger in the minds of Academy voters.
While movies released in the first half of the year may generally have a harder time on ballots thanks to recency bias, we're only a few years removed from a Best Picture winner that opened in March.
With that in mind, here are a few early predictions for movies released from January to June that could go the distance and possibly ride it out to year-end awards.
