  • Was a final choice for the role of Peter Petrelli in Heroes (2006).
  • His fathers name was Clan Cameron. Cameron is a Scottish surname from the Gaelic meaning crooked or bent nose, which was given from being a clan of warrior fighters. His mother is Scottish, Spanish and part Maori. Her Iwi (tribe) is Ngai Tahu, from the south island of New Zealand.
  • Left New Zealand by himself for Africa when he was 18 years old and lived in a tent in Zimbabwe.
  • When he was 10 years old (in the span of 6 months) his parents divorced, his sister Courtney was born, then his 32 year old father was killed in an accident when he was struck by a train.
  • Is a self taught artist, producing over 500 paintings and sculptures in the last 2 decades. When he was 12 years old he devised a home made latex molding system to create foam latex dinosaurs from Jurassic Park and would spend 100's of hours sculpting 50kg busts of people and movie creatures including Stan Winston's Predator and H.G. Giger's Alien out of clay in his garage.
  • Auditioned for Bryan Singer for the role of Clark Kent in Superman regresa (2006).
  • He trained at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Hollywood.
  • First began sculpting with clay and oil painting when he was six years old. Was awarded a full scholarship to Dilworth Boarding School based on his artistic talent where he instantly became a star art student. In his first year at 12 years old he was advanced to the University Level Entrance art classes where he received A-Level University Entrance marks in painting, print making and graphic design. He graduated from high school two years early with A-Level marks to continue to New Zealand's premier art school Elam School of Fine Arts. In a last minute decision he instead pursued his true passion in a career as an actor and film maker. Two months later he booked the lead role of Bray in the cult TV series The Tribe.
  • His first role was playing the boyfriend of Selma Blair. In his second role he starred alongside William Shatner.
  • Parents were dairy farmers.
  • Is directly related to Mary Helen MacKillop RSJ (founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart) who is now known as St Mary of the Cross MacKillop after she was canonised on October 17th 2010 and became the first and only Australian to be made a saint.
  • Was introduced to Ivana Chubbuck in 2005 and began training in her advanced classes in LA.
  • Trained at the Michael Chekhov acting school in 2008.
  • In 2009 trained at the Actors Studio in Sydney, Australia.
  • Auditioned for Sam Mendes for the role of Anthony Swofford in Soldado anónimo (2005).
  • Attended the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival in France with his short film Holding the Sun (2013) which he wrote, directed, produced and starred in, when it was accepted into the Cannes Short Film Corner. [May 2013].
  • His first short film that he wrote and directed premiered in 2003 at the New Zealand International Film Festival at Wellington's Embassy Theatre just before Peter Jackson's world premiere of Return of The King at the same venue.
  • In 2007 acquired an art studio in New Zealand above the Auckland Art Gallery where he painted every day for 18 months in which time he painted and sold more than 200 paintings.
  • Has an American Green Card.
