Bray was one of the regulars, or semi-regulars, at the Cock 'n Bull on Sunset Blvd. (home of the Moscow Mule). This writer saw him there, one day, with a bandage around a finger-tip. Though he was a hunter and sportsman, and WWII combat Marine, he'd managed to shoot off the tip of one of his fingers with his shotgun. He was good-natured and self-deprecating about the accident.

He was an avid sportsman and hunter, sharing hunting trips with the likes of General James Doolittle, Robert Fuller, Slim Pickens, and Frank Ferguson.

Body cremated and ashes scattered at sea. Specifically: scattered at Zuma Beach, California.
