- Balding, tough-looking French character actor, who occasionally popped up in international productions, usually as heavies. He is perhaps best remembered as hitman Pierre Nicoli of Contacto en Francia (1971). He was the dubbing voice for actors Charles Bronson and Paul Newman.
- On the iconic French Connection poster, his image is the largest between himself and Gene Hackman, who is standing in the background firing his gun at Marcel, whose image takes up most of the frame.
- Appeared in two films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Z (1969) and Contacto en Francia (1971), with the latter being a winner in the category.
- Spoke fluent Italian.
