She was expecting a third child in 1959 but lost the baby while filming "Beloved Infidel" (1959), which was her last theatrical film. She retired in 1964 and spent the rest of her life in Jupiter, Florida.

Booth was Jewish and was a frequent visitor to the Jewish Home for the Aged in Boyle Heights, California.

Her looks were often compared to Joan Crawford.

In a 1947 press interview, she shared some of her beauty secrets, which included keeping her beauty products chilled in ice (lipsticks do not melt and face cream becomes a cool spring tonic), keeping to a diet of vegetables and lean meats, shampooing her own hair sometimes with egg, and treating herself to an egg facial.

Her ashes were scattered over the Atlantic Ocean.

She attended John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, began a modeling career, and then became a chorus girl in 1939 . She received a contract with Paramount, moved to MGM, a starred in several "A" films, and then her contract ended for reasons that remain unclear.
