After 32 Years, Mark Wahlberg Returns to Scripted TV With a Series Based on His $773M Movie Franchise
Image
Mark Wahlberg is making a grand comeback to the small screen in Peacock’s Ted: The Animated Series, a spinoff of the commercially successful movie franchise as well as the prequel series. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has been confirmed to reprise the role of John Bennet in a voice role.

Wahlberg was asked to return for the Peacock TV series, but due to his hectic schedule, the network ultimately decided to create a prequel show with a new cast.

The actor has not been seen on any scripted television shows since 1993, when he starred in the television drama The Substitute and made cameo appearances in The Ben Stiller Show and Out All Night. Since then, the former rapper-turned-actor has only appeared as himself on several variety shows.

New Seth MacFarlane animated comedy series coming to Peacock with big stars
Image
Seth MacFarlane and Peacock appear to have a strong creative partnership, with the streaming platform teaming up once again with the Family Guy creator for a brand-new animated comedy. While MacFarlane already has his Ted live-action prequel series on Peacock, he's now set to expand his presence even more with a full-fledged Ted animated series.

While plot details are being kept secret, Ted: The Animated Series is said to be a sequel. It will continue the story after the first two Ted movies. Those hilariously funny comedy films, directed and co-written by MacFarlane, centered around the unexpected bond between a man named John Bennett and his foul-mouthed, magically sentient teddy bear, Ted. In addition to his behind-the-scenes work, MacFarlane also voiced the iconic character of Ted in the movies. He also currently voices the talking stuffed animal in the prequel series.

In this new animated Peacock show, MacFarlane will not...

Ted: The Animated Series to bring the foul-mouthed teddy bear to Peacock with Wahlberg and Seyfried returning
Seth MacFarlane
While Sleep Token fans are obsessed with Jerry, the Flamingo, leading up to the band’s new album, “Even in Arcadia,” Peacock is losing its stuffing for a teddy bear named Ted. Why the Sleep Token reference? What can I say? It’s timely, and I’m obsessed. Seth MacFarlane’s mega-popular Ted franchise is already dominating the live-action space with two films and a hit television series, but now it’s looking to conquer the animation arena. Peacock announced Ted: The Animated Series today, bringing the foul-mouthed teddy bear to screens like never before.

Seth MacFarlane will reprise his role as the voice of Ted for the animated series. In addition to playing Snuggle’s evil twin (not really), MacFarlane is producing all episodes with executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family), who also executive produced the live-action series Ted.

Mark Wahlberg To Reprise Ted Role After 10 Years In New Animated Spinoff On Peacock
Image
A Tedanimated show is on the way, and it's set to bring Mark Wahlberg back to the franchise after 10 years. Hitting theaters in 2012, the first Ted movie hailed from writer and director Seth MacFarlane, who also provided the voice of the titular foul-mouthed teddy bear. Wahlberg appeared in the film as John Bennett, Ted's best friend, a role that he would reprise for Ted 2 (2015) after the original movie's massive success. Wahlberg didn't return, however, for the recent Ted prequel series on Peacock.

Per Deadline, Peacock has now given a series order to Ted: The Animated Series (working title). Though no logline has been provided just yet, the show is expected to serve as a sequel that takes place after the two Ted movies. MacFarlane will executive produce the series and return to voice the titular bear, with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also executive producing. Wahlbergis returning to voice...

Image
Everyone's favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear is finally back, and no, it won't be in another prequel. Ted is getting another sequel, but it won't be in theaters. After debuting a brilliant prequel series set in the early 90s, the original cast and crew will reunite for a long-awaited follow-up to the 2015 sequel, Ted 2. Peacock is doubling down on the franchise with a show featuring the fan-favorite original cast.

Peacock has ordered a Ted animated series that will follow the events of the two live-action films. The show will star Seth MacFarlane as Ted, Mark Wahlberg as John, Amanda Seyfried as Sam, and Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn. Meanwhile, new cast members include Kyle Mooney as Apollo and Liz Richman as Ruth. Ted Sequel Series With Mark Wahlberg Ordered at Peacock — But There’s a Twist
Image
Despite the massive success of 2012’s Ted and its 2015 sequel, a third movie was never a guarantee.

“You know, there hadn’t ever really been any serious talks about doing a Ted 3,” franchise creator Seth MacFarlane previously told TVLine. “After Ted 2, we weren’t sure if there was still an insatiable appetite for more Ted, and that coincided with my desire to go do The Orville. So, it kind of ceased to be a part of the conversation for a while.”

‘Ted’ Animated Series From Seth MacFarlane Set at Peacock With Mark Wahlberg Co-Starring
Image
Peacock has given a series order to “Ted: The Animated Series,” the working title for an animated spinoff of the 2012 and 2015 live-action comedy film franchise created and directed by Seth MacFarlane, who starred with Mark Wahlberg.

The order further expands the franchise following the success of “Ted,” Peacock’s live-action prequel series.

MacFarlane of course will voice Ted, the foul-mouthed, magical talking teddy bear at the center of the story, with Wahlberg providing the voice of Ted’s human companion, John Bennett.

Also returning from the original films are Amanda Seyfried as John’s girlfriend, Sam Jackson, and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn.

Joining them are Kyle Mooney as the voice of “Apollo,” most likely Ted and Tami-Lynn’s adopted son from “Ted 2,” and Liz Richman (“Little America”), who plays “Polly” on Peacock’s “Ted” live-action series and will voice “Ruth” for the cartoon.

10 Best Comedy TV Series You Can Binge in Just 1 Day
Image
Since the success of old-school sitcoms like I Love Lucy and All In the Family, comedy has proven one of TV's most successful genres, with some shows running for over a decade. As impressive as the genre's longevity is, some audiences prefer shorter series that they can enjoy across a single day. A shorter show gives the audience something easy to digest, and some series surpass the quality of long sitcoms in a mere six episodes.

Comedy shows come in a range of formats, tones and styles, from dark comedy to witty satire and everything in between. While the classic weekly sitcom formula is still king, sometimes more can be said with less, and these shorter shows allow more focus on character building. Long shows always risk falling into a repetitive cycle of unoriginal stories, while compressing more into less forces the best out of writers.

Mark Wahlberg’s Raunchy Buddy Comedy Finds Streaming Success 13 Years After Becoming A Box Office Smash
Image
Mark Wahlberg's career has been incredibly varied. On the one hand, he has worked with some highly influential directors in critically acclaimed films. His breakout role was playing Eddie / Dirk in Boogie Nights, an epic drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. This role earned him buzz, but it was not until a decade later that he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for The Departed. While these critically acclaimed films have been part of Wahlberg's career, he is also an actor capable of making a big box office hit. Watership Down review – charming rabbit animation still has power to terrify
Richard Briers
A band of rabbits must leave their warren to find safety in a film that, even in a digital age, still has the bloody force to scare young minds

‘The field … it’s covered in blood!” This is the young visionary rabbit Fiver, voiced by Richard Briers, in the British animation from 1978 by Martin Rosen, based on Richard Adams’s classic children’s book. The rabbits’ warren, quite as important as Tolkien’s shire, is about to be destroyed by a property development, announced by the humans’ heartless wooden sign, which of course none of the rabbits can read, but twitchy, squirming Fiver can sense the disaster it represents.

So his brother Hazel (voiced by John Hurt) leads Fiver and a breakaway gang on a quest for safety to far-off Watership Down, a rumoured place of sanctuary foreseen by Fiver; they include hot-headed Bigwig (Michael Graham Cox) and later the...

Alanna Ubach Tells How Peacock's Ted TV Series Shocked Her
Image
When Ted made the jump from the big screen to a Peacock TV series, Alanna Ubach stepped in to play John Bennett's excitable and endearing mother. Not only was the character renamed from Helen to Susan, but the TV format allowed viewers to see a lot more of Susan and finally see her as more than John's mom. The reason that worked was because of Ubach, who added fresh layers to Susan and made her somebody that the audience wanted to hang around.

Watching the layers of Susan being peeled back, and the very complicated relationship she had with her husband Matty, was one of the best parts of Ted Season 1. As audiences are already looking forward to Ted Season 2, Ubach joined Cbr to explain everything that went into one of the most fun sitcom performances in recent TV history -- and why she wasn't an obvious candidate for the role.

Seth MacFarlane's Ted Season 2 Renewed by Peacock After Record-Breaking Debut

Ted Season 2 renewed due to high viewership and success. Show explores John and Ted's lives in 1993, focusing on teenage adventures. Potential second season could follow characters into young adulthood, tackling work and romance.

Peacock has officially greenlit a second season of Ted, mere months following its immensely successful launch. The series has quickly risen to become a key part of Peacock's original programming slate. Ted Season 2 continues the story of the irreverent, sentient teddy bear from the 1993 prequel setup, right after the initial movie's opening sequence.

Ted | Seth Macfarlane series recommissioned for season 2
Seth MacFarlane
Seth Macfarlane’s foul mouthed Ted will be back for a second series. Here’s what we know about Ted season 2:

TV spin-off Ted, based on the Seth Macfarlane films of the same name, has proved so successful that Peacock has commissioned a second series. The motion capture means that the show is labour intensive and expensive to make – according to some estimates, the budget is pushing $10m an episode – so it could be a while before it hits the screen.

Ted (the TV series) is a prequel set in 1993 which follows the adventures of the titular bear (voiced by Macfarlane) and his 16 year-old best friend John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham).

Peacock may be struggling on the revenue front, but that's not keeping it from bringing back one of its most successful shows for a second season.

Franchise creator Seth MacFarlane returns to voice, with the Ted cast featuring Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Giorgia Whigham, and Scott Grimes.

Deadline now confirms that Ted season 2 is happening at Peacock, along with explaining why the decision took months. The comedys hybrid live-action/CGI nature makes it expensive to produce, as much as $10 million an episode, per some estimates, and...

Peacock Reveals the Future of Seth MacFarlane's Ted Series
Image
Good news has been revealed for fans of Ted on Peacock. It has been reported that the show has been given a renewal order for a second season on the streaming platform.

Originally, Ted was promoted as an "event series" by Peacock, suggesting it'd be a limited series with no additional seasons. However, the acclaim and popularity of the series seem to have led to NBCUniversal's streaming platform to have a change of heart. Per THR, Ted has been renewed for Season 2 about four months after the show's debut on Peacock in January. The renewal follows Ted serving as the most-watched original title ever released on Peacock, and it was the most-streamed comedy in the U.S. for about two months after premiering.

Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’ Renewed For Season 2 By Peacock
Image
Peacock has given a second-season pickup to Ted, the prequel TV series to Seth MacFarlane’s Ted film franchise.

The seven-episode initial installment of Ted, released January 11, was billed as an event series. Its overwhelming ratings success, becoming Peacock’s most-watched original series to date and the No. 1 original streaming comedy in the U.S. for more than two consecutive months in the Nielsen rankings, naturally triggered a conversation about a second season.

Despite Ted‘s excellent performance, the renewal decision was not straightforward, I hear, as the comedy’s hybrid live-action/CGI nature makes it expensive to produce, and it also takes a long time to make.

Still, keeping its biggest hit was important to Peacock, and four months after the Season 1 drop, the streamer has ordered a second season.

Set in 1993, Ted comes from writer, director, executive producer and showrunner MacFarlane.

“I like playing age-appropriate roles”: Mark Wahlberg’s Acting Update is Bad News for Fans Waiting His Return to Ted Franchise in the Future
Image
At the moment, Mark Wahlberg is content with growing older and taking on the roles that go along with it. He is currently in a family-friendly phase of his career that will continue with Arthur the King, his upcoming flick.

However, fans of the hit comedy franchise Ted might have to remain patient for another installment. Indeed, Wahlberg has recently announced that he is focusing on more family-friendly projects at this point in his career. While this may be disappointing news for fans eagerly anticipating his return to the raunchy and hilarious world of Ted, Wahlberg’s commitment to “age-appropriate roles” is admirable.

The story of John Bennett, a lonely young boy who longs for a friend like Ted—his beloved teddy bear—is beautifully told in Ted, the highest-grossing comedy film of 2012. The narrative then switches to an adult Bennett,...

9 Biggest Things The Ted TV Show Reveals About John & Ted’s Lives Before The Movies
Image
The Ted prequel show adds interesting context to the scenarios and characters from the original movies. Magic exists in the world of Ted, as shown by the existence of other inanimate objects brought to life. John's past and relationships are explored in the show, including his cousin Blaire and his first girlfriend Bethany.

The Ted prequel TV show created by Seth MacFarlane adds to the lore of his movies in several ways. While the Ted franchise isn't especially prolific for its worldbuilding, the new show adds some interesting context to the scenarios and characters from the original movies with Mark Wahlberg. Watching the Ted show isn't necessary to understand the movies, but each can enhance the experience of the other.

The first Ted movie was released in 2012, with Ted 2 following in 2015. Both movies starred Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett and Seth MacFarlane as the voice and motion capture artist for the famous bear.

Peacock's Ted Prequel Show Has To Get Renewed For Season 2 After Its Streaming Win
Image
The Ted prequel show's success on Peacock makes a second-season renewal a no-brainer. Impressive viewing figures and becoming Peacock's first hit show further support a renewal. The show's storylines and character arcs demand a second season to continue them and explore them further.

Peacock has yet to renew Seth MacFarlane’s Ted prequel show for a second season, but the series has been doing so well for the streamer that a season 2 renewal seems like a no-brainer. Set in 1993, the Ted prequel show revolves around a 16-year-old John Bennett attending high school with his talking teddy bear. Throughout their junior year, Ted and John contend with bullies, drugs, pornography, and a college professor who’s sexually attracted to teddy bears – and that’s just the beginning.

Peacock has yet to renew Ted for a second season, so the series’ fate is still up in the air, but a season 2 renewal...

Seth MacFarlane's Ted Scores Huge Streaming Chart Win for Peacock
Image
Peacock scores big with Seth MacFarlane's Ted series, landing in the Top Ten on Nielsen's Streaming Originals chart. Ted's impressive viewership and positive reviews make a second season likely for the morally dubious bear. MacFarlane stays true to the successful movie formula, delivering the same rude, crude humor and nostalgic Easter eggs for dedicated fans.

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted has delivered a huge win for Peacock in Nielsen’s Streaming Originals chart. The foul-mouthed bear was always going to be a small screen hit, with the combination of MacFarlane’s popular brand of juvenile adult humor and the large fan base of the Ted movies, but landing a place in the Top Ten is something that Peacock really isn’t used to when competing with the likes of Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.

Seth MacFarlane's Ted Movies And TV Series Ranked
Image
Animation mastermind Seth MacFarlane made a name for himself with the creation of "Family Guy." After working on Hanna-Barbera cartoons like "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Johnny Bravo," MacFarlane would bring his irreverent riff on the animated family sitcom to Fox in 1999. Though the series was initially canceled after three seasons, the show's release on DVD resulted in renewed interest from both audiences and the network, and the show has been running for 22 seasons and counting. Since then, MacFarlane has created several more animated hits, including "American Dad" and the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show," but he's also shifted into both live-action TV and movies, which includes the raunchy buddy comedy franchise "Ted."

"Ted" follows the antics of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a thirty-something who is best friends with a teddy bear that magically came to life after wishing on a magic star when John was just a boy. It might sound family friendly and whimsical,...

What We Could See in Ted Season 2
Image
Ted season 1 was released on Peacock to rave reviews, leaving room for a potential season 2 and more stories to tell about John and Ted's "unique" life. A potential season 2 could explore John and Ted's lives as young adults in the working world and how they handle responsibility outside of Mom and Dad's house. Another idea for a new season could act as a prequel to the prequel, exploring Ted's early Hollywood career and how it shaped him into the foul-mouthed figure we know and love.

Seth MacFarlane is one of the biggest names in adult television. The mastermind behind Family Guy, American Dad!, The Orville and The Cleveland Show (remember that?) has been entertaining audiences for over 25 years. In 2012, MacFarlane ventured onto the big screen for the first time with Ted. This R-rated flick told the story of the magic of young John Bennett's wish as it brought his...

Mark Wahlberg's Absence In Ted TV Show Gets Definitive Response From Franchise Creator
Image
Mark Wahlberg's absence from the Ted prequel series was due to scheduling conflicts, allowing newcomer Max Burkholder to shine as a younger John. The prequel series explores the core duo's relationship and provides the origin of key elements seen in the films, making it a fresh and welcoming addition to the franchise. While a series featuring Wahlberg's return could work, the decision to make it a prequel offers new settings and a '90s time period, adding a new look to the series' nostalgic and crude humor.

Ted creator and star Seth MacFarlane has explained why Mark Wahlberg didn't reprise his role as John Bennett in the latest streaming series. Set in 1993, the show focuses on a young John and Ted attending high school, getting into a plethora of troublesome, hilarious situations. MacFarlane reprises his role as the CGI bear, bringing back all the raunchy humor that made the movies so popular.
