Written by Nick De Semlyen, the book takes a very affectionate look at all of the icons we grew up with in the 80s and 90s, with one notable exception. Steven Seagal does not come off well in the book – at all. One of the wildest stories from the book recounts a time when Seagal grew outraged over the fact that a meeting room he wanted was being occupied by the legendary Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.

A new challenger has entered the Top 10 on MGM+. Ben Affleck's 1998 sci-fi disaster film Armageddon has arrived on the streaming charts.

According to FlixPatrol, as of Aug. 7, Armageddon is ranked No. 10 on MGM+'s Top 10 Overall chart in the United States. Much like the asteroid in the movie, Armageddon has burst onto the streaming chart and will now try to climb up the ranks as a worthy group of hit shows and movies try to stop its climb. First in Armageddon's path is Jason Statham's 2024 sleeper hit The Beekeeper at No. 9, followed by the fan-favorite '80s buddy cop movie Lethal Weapon at No. 8 and Jack Quaid's action-comedy Novocaine at No. 7. Luckily for Armageddon, Lethal Weapon and Novocaine are down from where they were yesterday, which suggests that they may be on their way off the streaming chart.

Exclusive: Britton Webb has joined the thriller Don’t Forget Me Tomorrow. He replaces Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), who was previously announced for the project, and will star opposite Charlotte Kirk (Duchess).

The deal calls for Sony handling the global release of Artists Equity productions. The Culver City lot will also finance the films and handle all ancillaries, with Artists Equity having the option to co-finance individual projects.

Artists Equity has had a long-running non-exclusive relationship with Amazon MGM Studios on such movies as Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant 2 ($102M global box office), Affleck’s Air Jordan Nike movie Air ($90M global) and the William Goldenberg-directed, Jennifer Lopez-starring Prime Video movie Unstoppable. Those specific features were select deals with that studio, in addition to the Doug Liman directed, Casey Affleck and Damon starring The Instigators with Apple, as well as the Cillian Murphy drama Small Things Like These with Lionsgate.

Undisputed, for those who don’t know, was a theatrical boxing film directed by Walter Hill that tanked in theaters, but became a hit in the home video market. As such, it got a sequel, but it had nothing to do with the original, other than the fact that it centred around prison fighting, with the sequels embracing martial arts as opposed to the classic boxing of the original. The direct-to-video action film has its own distinct rhythm, a pulse I’ve followed since my days renting tapes from the local video store. Diablo immediately taps into that familiar beat. We meet Kris Chaney (Scott Adkins), an ex-convict whose world-weary face tells its own story before he even throws a punch.

He’s been smuggled into the vibrant, sun-drenched landscape of Colombia with a singular, dangerous task. His objective is to abduct Elisa, the daughter of the powerful crime lord Vicente. This isn’t a simple snatch-and-grab for cash.

The film quickly signals that Kris is operating from a place of grim duty, a promise to someone lost that puts him on a collision course with an entire criminal organization. The air is thick with the promise of violence from the opening frame.

The Saint, The Sinner, and The Spectre

The film’s engine is a triangle of well-defined personalities.

Ernesto Diaz Espinoza’s “Diablo” (2025) is a frantic actioner that, however, does little to resuscitate the genre. A film in this space needs not just a few darn good sequences pirouetting off the cliff of wild implausibility and solid craft but also anchoring itself to a fabric of earned emotion. There ought to be characters we can be at least marginally invested in or intrigued by. By randomly planting buried family history, sentimental dynamics in the narrative tangle, emotion cannot be miraculously elicited.

“Diablo” tries to insert emotion and engagement through lazy means that neither knows the map of dynamics or tie action into its folds. It’s a film that’s too scattered and harebrained, and effete to land its punches. Review: It’s tough to stand out in the action space these days, but my ears perk up whenever I see Scott Adkins‘ name involved. No matter the film, Adkins gives it his all, and always provides some genuinely fantastic fight sequences. Now, he’s teaming up with fellow action star Marko Zaror to create a unique story of revenge. And despite all the death and chaos, there’s actually some heart and humor that makes Diablo stand out.

They reunite once again under the banner of their artist-led production studio, Artists Equity. The gripping drama, directed by Joe Carnahan, is set in Miami.

It follows a group of police officers who stumble upon a hidden stash of cash during a routine raid. On May 31, Netflix announced the official premiere date of this Ben Affleckand Matt Damon-starring crime thriller, and sadly, it’s not anytime soon. Titled The Rip, the film was originally scheduled to debut sometime this fall, but Digital Spy can confirm that it will now be released on January 16, 2026. The news was first shared at Tudum, where the streamer also debuted a sneak peek. Co-starring with the iconic duo in The Rip are Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, Steven Yeun, Nésto Carbonell, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler and Lina Esco.

Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip centers on a team of Miami police officers who discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house. Upon discovering the money, trust among the cops begins to fray, and as outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question, including who they can rely on.
