Watch out for your planet, Earthling: This article contains spoilers for "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."
In a time-tested fashion of delivering the good news first, let's note that "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" does justice to the titular quartet. Pedro "I star in everything" Pascal makes for a charming, calculating Reed Richards who fully recognizes his "worst case scenario" mindset isn't very healthy. Vanessa Kirby's strong and capable Sue Storm keeps the team together, being the group's most powerful member in more ways than one. Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm has largely made peace with his rocky condition, offering nuggets of wisdom and powerful punches as needed. Joseph Quinn infuses Johnny Storm with a mixture of the character's traditional swagger and a surprising self-awareness. All in all, the Fantastic Four are making their world a better place, and even their potentially insufferable robot sidekick H.E.R.B.

Marvel Studios may not have a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, but they do have a movie that has made its way out into theatres just in time for Comic-Con weekend: The Fantastic Four: First Steps! We’ve seen the early reactions and we know what JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray thought of the movie (you can read his 8/10 review Here) – and now we want to know, what did you think of The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
There have been several attempts to bring the Fantastic Four to the screen over the years, to varying levels of success. Roger Corman produced a low budget adaptation of the comic book back in 1994, but it was never officially released. Tim Story directed two big budget Fantastic Four movies that were released by 20th Century Fox, Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). In 2015, Fox gave the...

The soundtrack features an original score by Academy®, Emmy®, and Grammy® Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. Giacchino’s score augments the strikingly unique world of the film with buoyant orchestrations (recorded at Abbey Road Studios with a 101-piece orchestra and 100-piece choir), as well as creating a vintage vibe using classic synths including the Arp 2600 and Mellotron.

It's about to get fantastic because Marvel Studios’ next big-screen adventure is a week away from landing on our Earth. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the next major leap for the MCU as moviegoers careen toward Avengers: Doomsday. However, with every major MCU entry comes the anticipation of new merchandise. In particular, the Hot Toy figure released by Sideshow Collectibles. Now their version of Marvel's “First Family” is here.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps runtime confirms it’s one of the MCU’s shortest superhero spectacles
Unlike other MCU epics like Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Studios’ upcoming adventure, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, won’t hover around the three-hour mark. According to a post by BBFC, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is 116 minutes long, making it one of the shortest films in MCU history.
One reason The Fantastic Four: First Steps could be shorter than typical for a sprawling MCU affair is that John Malkovich’s role as Ivan Kragoff, aka the Red Ghost, is no longer part of the film. According to First Steps director Matt Shakman, Malkovich’s Red Ghost appeared in an early sequence of the movie, with the Fab Four battling the villain and his army of Super-Apes.
“There were a lot of things that ultimately ended up hitting the cutting room floor,” Shakman explained to Variety. “When we were building a ’60s retro-future world, introducing all of these villains,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters next weekend, and according to Deadline, the next Marvel Studios movie is currently eyeing a $100 million - $110 million start.
As the trade puts it, "I kept hearing 'Oh, Disney is nervous,' but the stats look good: With $13M presales as of Monday, Fantastic Four is pacing ahead of the presales for Thunderbolts ($74.3M) and Captain America: Brave New World ($88.8M 3-day) and 20% behind Superman ($125M)."
So, yes, for those of you who care about that kind of thing, it does appear that Superman's domestic opening will be bigger than The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel Studios has a week to give the movie a final push, and the MCU is likely to perform better than Superman overseas, so we'll see what happens.

There is nothing you can do to stop him, for he is a universal force, as essential as the stars.“
After two previous attempts to bring Marvel’s First Family to the big screen fell short, the pressure is on Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios to finally get it right and deliver the adaptation fans have been waiting for. “I think that there are no four characters that are more important for the history of Marvel,” Feige said. “When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. With that date exactly one month away, the final trailer for the film has now dropped online and can be seen in the embed above.
Marvel fans expecting a super-sized runtime for The Fantastic Four: First Steps might want to reset their clocks. While AMC Theatres previously listed the film at a generous 130 minutes, the theater chain has just quietly shaved that down. The upcoming MCU reboot is now officially clocking in at 115 minutes, making it the shortest Marvel Studios release of 2025. For context, that’s 1 hour and 55 minutes — a fairly standard runtime by most blockbuster standards, but surprisingly compact for an MCU film that’s introducing a brand-new reality, a massive villain like Galactus, and Marvel’s First Family all in one go.
This isn’t just a minor tweak. The original runtime of 130 minutes (just over two hours) had positioned First Steps among the longer entries in the Multiverse Saga. Now, with only a month to go until the film hits theaters on July 25, AMC’s updated listing brings it down by a full 15 minutes.

On July 25, Pedro Pascal will become the second actor to portray Mister Fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The actor beat out several fan favorites for the superhero role, which led to him being on the receiving end of several unjustified complaints.
In a cover story for Vanity Fair, Pascal admitted that he was well aware of the criticisms and complaints that were thrown in his direction following his casting as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. "I’m getting an inkling of excitement because it seems to reflect what our common goal was, and what we want to share, which is all of our f***ing hearts on a platter within this genre. You just never know if people are going to be disgusted by your heart or not," he shared. "I’m more aware of disgruntlement around my casting...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hasn't even hit theaters yet, and it's already breaking records. An updated runtime for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has been revealed ahead of its theatrical release in July.
According to AMC Theatres, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has an official runtime of one hour and 55 minutes (115 mins). This is an updated runtime for the MCU movie, as the theater chain's website had previously listed a runtime of 130 minutes for First Steps. At 115 minutes, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also be the longest movie based on Marvel's First Family ever made. Its runtime vastly exceeds any of the previous four adaptations, which clocked in at 90 mins (Constantin Film's unreleased 1994 movie), 92 mins (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer), 100 mins (Josh Trank's 2015 reboot),and 106 mins (2005's Fantastic Four).
It appears ‘The Fantastic Four: First STEPS’ has a new updated runtime of 1 hour and 55 minutes.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will finally bring Marvel's First Family into the MCU. Opposing them will be the supervillain Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson in the upcoming film. He will be serving as the big bad of the movie, a contrast to what happened with the previous Fantastic Four movie.
Released in 2015, Fant4stic was directed by Josh Trank, who co-wrote the script with Jeremy Slater and Simon Kinberg. The panned film did not feature Galactus as the villain, though that was the initial plan. In a new interview with ComicBook, Slater spoke about why he's excited to see Galactus playing a big part of Fantastic Four: First Steps, given the character's absence in the 2015 film. As Slater lamented, he really wanted to use Galactus in the ill-fated film, but the powers that be eventually had him written out.

H.E.R.B.I.E. is one of the most unexpected additions to The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, where better to introduce the fan-favourite character than in a retro-futuristic 1960s New York?
A new "Silence Your Cell Phones" PSA is currently playing in theaters, and it sees the loveable robot briefly warn audiences, "You know better." However, that's subtitled, and his speaking voice is a series of computer noises; is this indicative of what we'll see in the movie itself?
If so, this promises to be a very unique voiceover role for General Grievous actor Matthew Wood.
"He’s absolutely as important and as alive as any other member of the cast," The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman recently said of H.E.R.B.I.E. "He’s sometimes a slightly put-upon robot, but he is definitely a member of the family. He’s just so charming and adorable.

Two beloved Star Warscharacters return in the first trailer for Star Wars: Tails of the Underworld. Disney+ is getting ready to celebrate May 4th, commonly known as "Star Wars Day". The next installment of the anthology will be centered around Asajj Ventress (Nika Futterman) and Cad Bane (Corey Burton). The characters were introduced thanks to the world of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The upcoming short stories will allow audiences to be reunited with some of the most popular characters from Star Wars animated media, in two thrilling stories that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
The last time Asajj Ventress was seen on television was during the last season of The Bad Batch. "Star Wars" is full of fascinating, enigmatic villains, most of them get barely any dialogue, let alone their background or backstory explained — in the movies at least. Whether it's Darth Vader being introduced as just a tall, menacing guy clad in dark, robotic armor, or Boba Fett's silent, striking suit of armor, these antagonists work because of how little we know of them, and how memorable their designs are.
This is especially true in the prequel trilogy, where we get characters like Darth Maul, who is just evil incarnate, a perfect design. Though perhaps not as well-liked, General Grievous' own character design is just as effective. He's a villain who's instantly memorable and striking, his cybernetic exterior and biological organs making him rather mysterious and alluring.
Grievous, like most things "Star Wars," went through many changes before making his debut, with George Lucas even briefly considering making the character Darth Maul in disguise.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest in a long stream of "galaxy far, far away" media attempting to re-ignite the dwindling spark of Star Wars. The once highly popular series has received less interest from fans, in no small part due to poorly received TV and other failed media.
Some may say the Disney-led era of Lightsabers and laser battles has been hit and miss, though — for now— Skeleton Crew seems to be veering on the side of hit. With a strong cast of characters and a compelling plot, it's more than a match for the best of Star Wars. Its strong response has been aided by the great support of its young stars by its creators — as has been the case with Kb actress Kyriana Kratter.

The Phantom Menace's Jake Lloyd Addresses Mental Health Struggles, Thanks Star Wars Fans for Support
Star Wars franchise star Jake Lloyd rose to fame as the child star at the heart of the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. As he grew older, Lloyd drifted away from acting and his subsequent struggles with his mental health have been well documented.
Lloyd has now commented on his struggles and his Star Wars experience for a new interview with Star Wars: Timelines co-author Clayton Sandell on Substack. He shared how a diagnosis of schizophrenia led to his exit from Hollywood after starring in hit films like the Star Wars prequel and Jingle All the Way. Lloyd's struggles would continue years into his adulthood, though he says he's now feeling "pretty good" after spending 18 months at an inpatient mental health facility. He now resides at a different rehab center where he continues to receive treatment, though it comes with substantially more freedom, as he's permitted...

Should Spaceballs 2: The Search For Money come to pass, contemporary Star Wars will be a huge part of its satirical backlog.
Per Entertainment Weekly, actor-writer Josh Gad appeared on an episode of Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, where he discussed collaborating with Mel Brooks on a follow-up to his 1987 sci-fi spoof and updating the process of lovingly lampooning Star Wars media from the modern era. "Mel is incredibly involved. I'll share a funny story that I haven't yet shared," he said, recalling, "When we were pitching him the original conceit for what we wanted to do with the film, at the beginning he goes, 'I'm just telling you now, I want you to really go into detail because I don't know a lot about the new Star Wars films.' And I said, 'okay.'"

Last fall, fans of Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones movie series were left frustrated when all four of the films directed by Steven Spielberg were inexplicably removed from Disney+. In the months since, only Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was available to stream, but that frustrating problem has finally been rectified.
Per What's On Disney Plus, all four Spielberg-helmed films are now streaming again on the Disney+ platform. The reason for their temporary removal is that Paramount Pictures still holds the rights to those movies, and it would appear that the Disney+ streaming license has been renewed. This puts all five of the films starring Ford back together again on one platform, though it should be noted that the classic films are still not available yet on Disney+ internationally. It's also unclear how long this new streaming agreement will last, which may eventually lead to the movies...
