Viewers eagerly tuned in for the first part of Season 2, which launched with four episodes on August 6, raking in 50M views in just four days. That’s the second highest weekly total ever for a Netflix series, behind only its predecessor, Wednesday Season 1.

At the time that Season 1 debuted, Netflix still reported its weekly viewing totals in terms of hours watched, of which Wednesday managed 341M in its first week on the streamer. That’s roughly 56M hours viewed. The Boss is taking Manhattan. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, the anticipated biopic starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, will premiere at this year’s New York Film Festival as the Spotlight Gala selection.

On Monday, the New York Film Festival announced the Scott Cooper-directed film that is earning early awards buzz, will have its premiere on Sept. 28.

The film is adapted from Warren Zanes’s 2023 best-selling book of the same name and focuses on a pivotal period in Springsteen’s career.

Set in the early 1980s, the film follows Springsteen as he deals with the pressures of fame while creating the raw and personal acoustic songs that would become the Nebraska album. Pinewood Toronto Studios is set to name one of its soundstages after Paul Bronfman, the Canadian industry pioneer who died in February at age 67.

Bronfman was a longtime chairman of Pinewood Toronto Studios, and before that a founding partner and a major shareholder in Filmport Studios, a production studio complex that opened in Toronto’s portlands in 2008. A year later, the facility was rebranded as Pinewood Toronto Studios, with Bronfman in the role of chairman and a key shareholder.

Especially now. Hollywood has fallen in love with a different kind of sequel; the legacy sequel or the – ready for this? – legasequel. These sequels come sometimes 20 or 30 years after their predecessor and try to recreate the magic all over again. Some succeed better than others. They’re designed to reboot a franchise as much as continue it, bringing it to the promised land of a new audience.

Based on Richard Osman’s international best-selling novel of the same name, the story follows four irrepressible retirees – Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) – who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. The international showcase of daring work from adventurous new voices and inventive artists includes 16 feature films and 24 short films from 28 countries.

With Adam Sandler recently reprising a beloved comedy role in Happy Gilmore 2, the actor’s next Netflix film shows off more of his range.

Ahead of the Nov. 14 theatrical premiere of their film Jay Kelly, which then moves to the streamer on Dec. 5, George Clooney praised his co-star as more than “just some goofy comedian” in the Noah Baumbach comedy-drama.

“This film, more than any film Adam has done, shows what a beautiful, heartfelt, soulful actor he is—I kept telling the cast, ‘Don’t call him Sand Man. Don’t talk to him like he’s just some goofy comedian. He’s actually a really beautiful, wonderful actor,'” he told Vanity Fair.

“Because of what his paycheck is, which is doing big goofy comedies, when he does these other, beautiful, Uncut Gems kinds of movies, it reminds people of that,” added Clooney. “He’s not just a good comedian.
