Whenever casting news drops about superhero movies, the internet regresses to the toddler temper tantrum -- sorry, "passionate" -- phase, especially if it involves beloved superheroes like Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman. Who can ever forget the Batman controversy that had Tim Burton fighting for Michael Keaton, only for the public to do a massive U-turn when they figured out that Keaton is a multifaceted actor? Shocker. Yet, a similar cycle repeats itself and plays out online every few years for all our amusement.
Generally speaking, most comic book movies choose the correct actors for the roles. There have been times when the casting just didn't work out, though. It could be a case of the film being a hot mess, the actor not being the right fit for the part, or a combination of both to create the perfect storm. Whichever way, it's unlikely that there are too many people...

The seemingly unstoppable Yellowstone franchise continues, with the Taylor Sheridan-created series launching another spin-off centered on fan-favorite character Kayce Dutton, played once again by Luke Grimes. Discussing the development of Y: Marshals, Grimes revealed that the follow-up will open up the world far more than Yellowstone ever did, while giving Kayce the chance to carve his own path and find his place within that world.
"I can't say it too much about it (Y: Marshals), but, you know, I will say that the story that we've started to figure out for him really opens up the world for him in a way that Yellowstone sort of couldn't. You know, he was always...

M3GAN’s screen rivalry will wear a Scarface scowl and cartoon curves, director Gerard Johnstone says, recounting how the sequel’s new android foe Amelia started as a homage to Michelle Pfeiffer’s Elvira Hancock before drifting toward Jessica Rabbit once the wardrobe team “loosened the silhouette”; he felt Pfeiffer’s icy glamour gave the character the lethal allure he wanted.
Johnstone describes Amelia as a “dark mirror” whose design had to look “grungy and tactile” beside the pristine doll that danced into pop culture two years ago. Played by Ivanna Sakhno, the autonomous military engagement android flips the premise by forcing M3GAN into uneasy hero mode after defense contractors weaponize her stolen code.
Following a New York premiere on 24 June, M3GAN 2.0 opened wide on 27 June through Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. Producers Jason Blum and James Wan re-team with stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, while Amie Donald and...

Director Gerard Johnstone revealed the inspiration for the “dark mirror” AI counterpart to robot M3GAN in the original film’s sequel, “M3GAN 2.0” — although he admits Amelia didn’t really turn out as planned.
“The reference was Michelle Pfeiffer in ‘Scarface,’ but she ended up looking a lot more like Jessica Rabbit,” Johnstone told Variety. “This is a way for a middle-aged man like myself to play dress-up dolls, so it’s a real dream come true.” Johnstone explained that Amelia — the aforementioned counterpart — had to be more “grungy” and “tactile” than M3GAN. “She’s a woman, whereas M3GAN’s stuck in the permanent state of adolescence,” he explained.
Tackling an AI-centric in 2025, Johnstone admitted, is “thorny territory,” and that “M3GAN” explores whether or not it is time to take a “pause we can really figure this out and put some systems in place” for the technological advancements.

It’s no secret that “Yellowstone” is one of those once-in-a-decade types of shows that has everyone talking around the virtual water coolers. And while fans said goodbye to the flagship series last year, “Yellowstone” has created an itch in viewers that just needs to be scratched now, and we can do that via similar type shows.
And sure, we could suggest other super popular series like “Ozark” and “Succession” that also include messy families involved with shady dealings, but odds are you’ve seen them already. And if not, you definitely should whether you like “Yellowstone” or not. These are just the facts. We could also recommend the two “Yellowstone” prequel series “1884” and “1923,” but that’s kind of a given if you’re already a fan of the original. But speaking of, fans who prefer those two offerings over the present day story will not be disappointed with this list either.

Luke Grimes echoes Yellowstone fans' sentiments when he explains why he agreed to sign on to a spinoff about Kayce Dutton, Y: Marshals. In the sequel “M3GAN 2.0,” this year’s model is a totally different ride – and that’s a very good thing.
The first clue that this isn’t the slow-burn horror attraction of the first film, but more of a rollercoaster, is the first scene, which is straight out of a high-tech action movie. The first clue that the wit of the original is intact is that there actually is a M3GAN 2.0: She’s named Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), and all those murdery tendencies that got M3GAN in trouble have been deemed assets by the U.S. military – features, not bugs, for a sleek, new, taller killer A.I. robot. Seven years ago today, June 20, 2018, Taylor Sheridan dropped the very first episode of Yellowstone, unknowingly kicking off what would become a $70 million storytelling empire. What started as a neo-Western drama about a powerful ranching family quickly turned into a pop culture phenomenon. Sheridan’s gritty writing and witty characters struck a chord, and from that single premiere, a franchise was born.
With multiple spinoffs, star-studded casts, and a massive Paramount deal, Ts not only created a hit, but he also changed the landscape of TV. And it all began with Yellowstone’s explosive pilot.

Taylor Sheridan’s teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson for Nola King, and the hype’s already simmering. But if Sheridan wants this New Orleans-set crime saga to truly pop, he needs to steer clear of one glaring Yellowstone universe misstep, repeating Tulsa King’s formula without fixing its flaws.
While Tulsa King had Stallone swagger, it stumbled with undercooked characters and a tone that couldn’t decide if it was gritty or goofy. With a powerhouse like Jackson leading Nola King, Sheridan’s got the perfect shot to go deeper, darker, and way sharper. Just leave the cowboy clichés and tonal whiplash behind, please.

Just a few years shy of turning 30, the 1998 Oscar-winning animated film The Prince of Egyptis still being talked about. In the age of nearly every beloved animated movie getting a live-action adaptation, naturally, one as beloved as The Prince of Egypt is a topic of conversation with its all-star cast, including Ralph Fiennes, the late Val Kilmer, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, and more. In addition to the cast, the songs, written by Stephen Schwartz, have stayed with fans (particularly of the millennial generation) for decades. Schwartz talked with Collider's Michael Zimmerman at the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Induction about the possibility of a live-action adaptation.
"That's a good question... It's just being released now for theatre both in a full version and a junior version, and I'm starting to see productions done around the country and around the world, so maybe that will lead to something."

The superhero genre has delivered some of the greatest highs and lows in Hollywood history. For every success story like Batman, there is a Batman and Robin questionably existing, living on in infamy for some poor creative choices that allowed such a loud spectacle to get released in the first place. That's the world of cinema for you!
But although the latter film has indeed lived on in infamy, it has its high points - which is more than can be said for the murky modern day misfires like Justice League and Morbius, which are rife with studio interference and dull plots that are incapable of understanding the grandeur of the characters they are working with. And that's the sad truth, for even the most popular genre in the world isn't immune to bad storytelling, poor creative choices, and by-the-numbers plots in movies that were clearly just made to make money.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off its Multiverse Saga in Phase Four with some strong early returns, and through some ups and downs, it found its way to Phase Five. Unfortunately, it would be wrong of us to ignore the fact that the fifth phase of the franchise has been anything other than a misfire, which is a real shame because, in the midst of a lot of its misses, there are some real cracking, potentially Top 5, MCU installments.
It's not too surprising that there were struggles along the way as this was the phase in which the Multiverse Saga's central storyline revolving around Kang the Conqueror was dropped and replaced by the build towards the arrival of a new villain: Doctor Doom, portrayed by none other than Robert Downey Jr. This was a game-changer, this was exciting, but unfortunately Phase Five was running out of time and titles to...

Taylor Sheridan has never been shy about his love for the Western genre. While many believe modern audiences have moved on, Sheridan thinks otherwise, and he’s got one simple reason to back it up. He believes a Western done right will always strike gold. And looking at Yellowstone’s massive success, it’s hard to argue with him. The grit, the land, the legacy, horse operas aren’t just stubbornly sticking around; they’re thriving.
And Sheridan’s storytelling blueprint is now the industry’s go-to formula for frontier drama that rakes in both viewers and awards. Safe to say, the cowboy isn’t riding off just yet.

Taylor Sheridan called Yellowstone “nonsensical.” The man behind the Dutton dynasty openly admitted his signature show makes little sense, but that’s kind of the point.

Over the years, Danny DeVito has established himself as one of the most celebrated funnymen in Hollywood. Even at 80, DeVito can still enthrall his entire audience with his humorous yet witty punchlines.
While more than five decades later after that incident, DeVito is an award-winning movie star, it was not always the case. There was a time when the actor had to audition for roles, and often had to bring a twist to it.
Fresh out of his success from his role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, DeVito auditioned for his iconic role in Taxi, which premiered in 1978. However, DeVito did not take a direct approach when he went in to audition for the role, and for a moment, he thought his experiment backfired.

The trailer showcases how both characters re-live past moments of their lives. Farrell and Danny DeVito also re-live their past performances as the Batman rogue, The Penguin, as they interview each other for Variety‘s recurring Actors on Actors series. After disappearing from the Paramount+ streaming charts for a few weeks, the crime drama series MobLand had a major resurgence as it concluded its debut season this month. MobLand took the number two spot on the Paramount+ viewership charts on June 2 and June 3, challenging Taylor Sheridan's dominance on the streamer, which practically survives on the popularity of his output. Sheridan has several shows on the Paramount+ service, but on June 2 and June 3, none of them could outperform MobLand. Created by Ronan Bennett and starring Tom Hardy, the show opened to mostly positive reviews, but had an uneven run.
According to FlixPatrol, MobLand scored 231 points on June 3, edging past Sheridan's Tulsa King and Yellowstone, which earned 176 and 143 points, respectively. Earlier in its run, MobLand would also outperform other Sheridan shows such as 1883 and 1923, both of which are Yellowstone spin-offs. But MobLand suffered a noticeable mid-season slump in interest. The second and final season of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone prequel might have ended nearly two months ago, but new information about the series has surfaced. 1883 was the first Yellowstone prequel to hit the air, and it stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill opposite Sam Elliot. The show was followed by 1923, which featured Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in leading roles. A new report from the Wall Street Journal revealed that 1923, which initially aired in 2022 before kicking off its second season earlier this year, cost around $22 million per episode. This is more than the final season of Game of Thrones, which reportedly cost around $15 million per episode. As of May 2023, Paramount was reportedly spending around $500 million a year for the Yellowstone franchise — this has likely gone down now that Yellowstone and 1923 are over.

Before Robert Pattinson stole the spotlight or Christian Bale whispered in a deep growl, Michael Keaton was rocking the Bat-suit in the ‘90s. Appearing in two of Tim Burton’s Batman movies, Keaton packed his films with bat gadgets, high-octane actions, and a bit of behind-the-scenes drama.

Batman Returns received mixed reviews from critics; while some praised the characters, others stated that the plot lacked in more ways than one. Because she won an Academy Award for her role in the film, fans may presume she was subsequently in high demand for major movie roles, but Bates says that wasn't the case.
