He and actor Greg McClure went into business in the late 1940s, running a physical culture gym. McClure also worked on producing a series of two-reel comedies starring Duke but it never got off the ground.
His ashes are interred at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Plot Abbey of the Psalms, Foyer F, North Wall, Tier 5, Niche 11.
