Why August 1 Is Set To Be Another Rough Day For Doctor Who Fans
Image
American Doctor Who fans are facing a tough day on August 1. Despite the return of noted Doctor Who fanatic Russell T. Davies as showrunner and the show's recent global distribution via Disney+, Doctor Who's fate has never felt so uncertain. During times like these, it's nice to revisit a period when the future of Doctor Who was undeniably bright, but sadly, even that will soon be harder to do.

HBO Max (recently renamed from Max) has announced that Doctor Who's first rebooted series, which aired on the BBC between 2005 and 2021, will no longer be available on the streaming service from August 1.

Doctor Who will be removed from HBO Max on July 31. This means HBO Max subscribers will no longer have access to iconic episodes from the Ninth to Thirteenth Doctors' eras, including "Midnight," "Vincent and the Doctor," "Silence in the Library," and "Blink."

It's currently unclear where this...

Divisive Casting Of Actor, 72, In Netflix's New Murder Mystery Defended By Book Author
Image
Author Richard Osman defends Pierce Brosnan's divisive casting in The Thursday Murder Club movie. Based on Osman's 2020 novel and directed by Chris Columbus, Netflix's upcoming crime comedy follows four elderly amateur sleuths – a retired spy, a union leader, a psychiatrist, and a nurse – who attempt to solve a murder.

The film features an ensemble cast that includes former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan as Ron Ritchie alongside Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim Arif, Helen Mirren, and Celia Imrie in the four lead roles. David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Paul Freeman, and Richard E. Grant also star.

In an interview with Empire, Richard Osman defended Pierce Brosnan's casting in Netflix's Thursday Murder Club movie. The author says that Brosnan is exactly who the character Ron would choose to play himself, as there's a scene in the second book when Ron reveals that Brosnan is his favorite Bond actor.

Doctor Who showrunner has "no idea" if Billie Piper is the next Doctor
Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Jodie Whittaker in Doctor Who (2005)
When Doctor Who fans watched the season 2 finale, "The Reality War," everyone was hugely surprised to find that the journey had reached its conclusion for Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor. But what instantly became the huge talking point was what happened next: the Fifthteenth Doctor regenerated into none other than Billie Piper. What!?

Of course, Billie Piper previously played the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler alongside Chris Eccleston's Ninth Doctor and David Tennant's Tenth Doctor. The first companion of the 'New Who' era, Piper's character has cult status in the fandom, even making a couple of guest appearances over the years, notably in the 50th anniversary special.

There were always mumblings that Piper would return to the Whoniverse; when a character is as popular as Rose, bringing her back makes a lot of sense, and the cosmology of Doctor Who is flexible enough to allow it. Everyone loves a bit of fan service.

‘Thursday Murder Club’ Author Defends Divisive Casting in Netflix’s Movie Adaptation
Image
Based on British television personality Richard Osman’s bestseller, The Thursday Murder Club is set to debut on Netflix in late August and is one of the platform's most anticipated upcoming releases. Directed by Home Alone's Chris Columbus, the film stars the likes of Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, and many more, from Doctor Who's David Tennant to the brilliant Tom Ellis, in one of the most stacked British casts in recent memory.

However, it is this casting, in particular the casting of Brosnan as Ron, that has caused some controversy from fans of the novel. With Ron described in the book as a neck-tattooed former trade unionist, Brosnan is perhaps the last man to have come to mind, with many looking towards the likes of Ray Winstone as a better candidate. However, the allure of Brosnan proved too strong, with author Osman, who has...

"There Are Huge Gaps in the Narrative": Former 'Doctor Who' Star, 74, Reveals Scathing Thoughts on the Latest Season
Image
Doctor Who's 60-year success is largely due to its ability to evolve, with the timeless sci-fi adventure series revolutionizing television by creating an in-world solution to the problem of needing to produce a revolving door of lead actors. However, during the show's most recent iteration, helmed by Russell T. Davies, many have been left unsatisfied by both the direction it has evolved and by its inability to stick to such progressive evolution, instead spending far too long harking back to its own past without laying the groundwork for a solid future.

Because of these missteps, which ended in the departure of lead actor Ncuti Gatwa amid ongoing concerns following dropping viewing figures, Doctor Who's future is now entirely uncertain, with no confirmation about what comes next for the timey-wimey show despite its latest season ending many weeks ago. This has caught the ire of many within the fandom, including...

'Doctor Who' Fans Get More Devastating News Amid Uncertainty Around Future Seasons
Image
Please find your seat in the Tardis, this next news may hurt a bit. The 2005 series of Doctor Who, which rebooted the long-running science fiction franchise, is leaving its HBO Max home for some non-uk audiences, namely in the US, according to JustWatch. The news comes as uncertainty grows for the future of the Disney+ series after the conclusion of Season 2 back in May. Fans saw Ncuti Gatwa's shocking departure, with the Doctor regenerating into Billie Piper, confirming a longstanding leak. Doctor Who will leave HBO Max on July 31.

The 2005 series ran until 2021, with the conclusion of Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor era. The series saw iterations of the Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, and Thirteenth Doctors. They were played by Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Whittaker. The series picked back up on Disney+, with Tennant returning as the Fourteenth Doctor for the 60th Anniversary Specials,...

Doctor Who Showrunner Addresses If Billie Piper Is The New Doctor, & It’s A Disappointing Update
Image
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has a worrying response about Billie Piper's role in the show's future. Piper first appeared in the show's 2005 revival, as she debuted as the Doctor's newest companion, Rose Tyler. She remained closely tied to then-Doctor Christopher Eccelston, and the two remained bonded when he regenerated into David Tennant's Tenth Doctor.

Piper left the show after two seasons, though she returned for several one-off appearances in special episodes. Her most recent return came in Doctor Who season 15, episode 8, "The Reality War," as Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor experienced his latest regeneration. The Gatwa era ended as the Doctor smiled, stepped out into space, and regenerated into Billie Piper.

While speculation has been rampant about the show's future, Davies does not have much insight to offer viewers. In an interview with Your Manchester, Davies was asked about Billie Piper's new role in the show, especially...

‘Doctor Who’s Best Season of Revival Era Ended 17 Years Ago
Image
In 1963, Doctor Who premiered. In 2005, Doctor Who was revived, introducing new iterations of the Time Lord and more adventures through time and space. In 2023, another new era began, with Disney becoming a producer. There has been quite a bit to love about each Doctor and his or her companions, as well as each season. But 17 years ago, on July 5, 2008, the best season since the show was revived came to an end. The second Doctor Who Season 4 featured David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and brought back Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble after introducing her at the end of Season 2 and then in a one-off Christmas special in 2006, “The Runaway Bride.” It was full of both comedic and heartfelt moments, the major return of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, the introduction of a character who would go on to be a significant part of the Doctor’s life (though he...

Forget David Tennant, the ‘Doctor Who’ Casting Director for This Character Needs a Raise
Image
David Tennant’s tenure as the Doctor has been widely accepted, and while he seemed to be born to play the role, another actor in Doctor Who was so aptly cast that it seemed to be destined for him. Tony Curran played Vincent Van Gogh in the Doctor Who episode ‘Vincent and the Doctor’, with Matt Smith playing the Doctor.

The highlight of the episode is the treatment of Van Gogh, who was often regarded as a man out of his time, as his art gained fame only after his lifetime, which was plagued by depressive episodes, and an attempted s*icide that eventually led to his death due to the injuries. Doctor Who was one of the few works of art that did not vilify his depression, nor did it try to solve it.

Curran’s performance, especially in the iconic scene where he visits a gallery in 2010 to see his works being celebrated,...

Every ‘Doctor Who’ Actor Who Publicly Criticized the Show — and Why
Image
Doctor Who is one of the most popular franchises in the sci-fi genre, but it, too, is not shielded from criticism. The series has often been the center of controversy, be it for the general direction of the franchise or its messaging. From the First Doctor back in the ‘60s, Doctor Who has fielded questions on how it is branded as a children’s show.

However, criticism from fans and the general audience is one thing. But when it comes from the actors themselves, it becomes all the more scandalous. Many stars from the franchise have expressed their love for the show, with stars like David Tennant and Matt Smith defending it through all its iterations.

However, some actors have called out the way the show functions behind the scenes as well as its creative direction in the past. Here are the actors who have publicly criticized Doctor Who.

These 10 Doctor Who Episodes Are Why It’s the Greatest Show in the Galaxy
Image
There is no other show like Doctor Who, which seamlessly blends goofy sci-fi with genuine horror that scares the bejeesus out of its audience. One of the reasons for its appeal is this mixture of genres that can be seen in various episodes. It has been sixty years, and none can do the same in this unique fashion.

From Russell T. Davies to Steven Moffat to Chris Chibnall, three showrunners have taken the reins since the 2005 revival, and all have their own strengths and weaknesses. While Moffat is credited with creating the legendary Weeping Angels, Davies revived the show and was the showrunner for some of its greatest Doctors. Each era has its fans.

While sixty years have produced multiple episodes and fifteen Doctors, here are ten episodes across the seasons that prove why Doctor Who is the best.

Doctor Who’s Steven Moffat: I Created Weeping Angels After Seeing a Graveyard Statue That Wasn’t There
Image
Steven Moffat reportedly based one of the creepiest villains on Doctor Who on a strange experience with a statue at a graveyard. Moffat, who was still a writer on the show before becoming its showrunner once Russell T. Davies exited, reportedly went on a trip to Dorset and saw a Weeping Angel statue at a graveyard with a cautionary signboard.

Talking about the origins of the scary monsters who eat away at their victims’ time, Moffat spoke about his trip to Dorset and how a revisit changed everything for the franchise (via Radio Times).

18 Years Ago on This Day, Doctor Who Released One of Its Best Episodes That Russell T. Davies Wrote in Just 4 Days
Image
Doctor Who had one of its best episodes air on June 30, 2007, eighteen years ago, which Russell T. Davies reportedly wrote only in four days. The series 3 finale ‘Last of the Time Lords’ was written by Davies and was directed by Colin Teague and Graeme Harper, continuing the story of the Master and the Toclafane invasion from the previous episodes.

While the arc is considered to be one of the best in the New Who era, many were also disappointed with it, calling the episode the weakest entry in the trilogy and a dissatisfying finale. Davies still considered it a separate story from the previous two episodes, but it is the obvious conclusion in the story arc.

New ‘Doctor Who’ Episodes Called Out for Disjointed Plot By Former Doctor: “Like Watching a Trailer”
Image
Doctor Who has been a beloved sci-fi show since 1963, with many actors taking on the iconic role of the Doctor over the years. From Tom Baker to Jodie Whittaker, and most recently Ncuti Gatwa, the show has always changed and evolved. But now, some serious questions are being raised about where the series is headed.

Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor in the early 1980s, recently spoke out about his disappointment with the current direction of Doctor Who.

In an interview on The Lewis Nicholls Show, Davison said watching the latest episodes feels like watching random clips rather than a complete story.

“It’s like watching a trailer for a Doctor Who show you’d like to watch later. There are huge gaps in the narrative. They’re just leaping onto the next bit and hoping your brain fills in the rest.”

New ‘Doctor Who’ Seasons Slammed for Weak Storytelling by Former Doctor: “Like Watching a Trailer”

Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor back in the early 1980s, isn’t happy with where the show is heading. In a recent chat on The Lewis Nicholls Show, he said watching Doctor Who these days feels like watching a bunch of disconnected scenes rather than a full story.

Top 10 Harry Potter Book Scenes That Aren’t in the Movies
Image
When Warner Bros. adapted J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter novels, they gave us a visual feast of magic, mayhem, and mischief. From the breathtaking first glimpse of Hogwarts to the chills down our spines when Snape uttered, “Always,” the films delivered some of the most unforgettable moments, few of which weren’t even in the original books.

But let’s be honest—while Warner Bros. sprinkled in a few new scenes, they also sliced out some of the most important book moments that were crucial to the storyline. Sure, making eight films out of seven lengthy novels is no easy task. Not everything could make the final cut. But some omissions were borderline criminal. So today, let’s check out 10 incredible Harry Potter book scenes that never made it to the movies (even though they absolutely should have).

New Doctor Who Seasons Criticized By Former Doctor: "Like Watching A Trailer...For A Show You'd Like To Watch Later"
Image
One former Doctor Whostar is not pleased with the direction that the show is taking. After the BBC agreed to a massive deal with Disney+ for much of the Ncuti Gatwa-led era, Disney+ recently declined to renew its Doctor Who deal. With Gatwa exiting and Billie Piper returning to play the Sixteenth Doctor, the show's future is in doubt.

The franchise has been prominent around the world since it first premiered in 1963. As a consequence, over a dozen actors have played the leading character, including David Tennant, Peter Davison, and now, Billie Piper. Piper appears to be poised to lead the next era of the show, but one star believes that Doctor Who is struggling.

Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor, believes that the show is failing to maintain a fulfilling narrative. In an interview on The Lewis Nicholls Show, Davison described watching Doctor Who as being akin to "watching a trailer.

Did You Know? Peter Capaldi Played 2 Other Characters in Doctor Who

Peter Capaldi reportedly played two characters in the Doctor Who universe before he was cast as the Twelfth Doctor. Revived by Steven Moffat, the sci-fi show Doctor Who went through several actors in the role, with Capaldi taking over from Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. However, before he became the Time Lord, he was in the franchise more than once.

Capaldi reportedly played Lobus Caecilius in the fourth series of the revival, with David Tennant as the Doctor. The show also addressed how the Twelfth Doctor had Lobus’ likeness. Capaldi also played another role in the Doctor Who franchise, in the spinoff series Torchwood. He played an antagonistic character in the show.

First Director of Doctor Who Confirmed the Show Was Meant for Kids, Not Adults
Image
Waris Hussein, who was the director of the first-ever Doctor Who episode, confirmed that the show was always meant for kids. Created by Sydney Newman, C. E. Webber, and Donald Wilson for the BBC, the show began airing back in the 1960s, before it was revived in 2005. The sci-fi show features an unnamed Time Lord named the Doctor, who goes on interdimensional adventures with his group of sidekicks.

The sci-fi adventure show has had many adult fans, who are regulars at conventions and the like. The show itself has dealt with mature themes such as death and loneliness, but it was originally envisioned as an education program meant to teach children about science and history, which makes sense considering how much of historical references are in the show.

13 Years Ago, Star Trek and Matt Smith’s Doctor Who Had the Unlikeliest Crossover

Over a decade ago, two of the nerdiest franchises, Star Trek and Doctor Who, came together in the comics. Titled Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2, the comics saw Captain Picard and the Enterprise crew join hands with the Eleventh Doctor to fight an alliance against the Borg and the Cybermen.

Both franchises have previously been rendered in comic book form, but they have never come together. The storyline brought Matt Smith’s Doctor and Sir Patrick Stewart’s Captain Picard in the same Enterprise/Tardis for the first time for an adventure that also clubbed their most dangerous antagonists.

PBS' New British Crime Series Earns a Rotten Tomatoes Rating That Rivals 'Broadchurch'
Image
The latest in a long line of PBScrime dramas, Patience is a British crime thriller that has already proven incredibly popular, despite only debuting a week ago. Starring Heartstopper's Ella Maisy Purvis as autistic archivist Patience Evans and A Knight's Tale's Laura Fraser as Detective Inspector Bea Metcalf, the series sees this unlikely duo team up to not just solve crime, but change each other's lives forever. Currently, on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the PBS crime thriller has earned a huge 92% critics' score, with a strong 82% audience score to boot.

Although from just 12 ratings thus far, 92% is enough to prove to many that Patience is more than worth their time, with the UK's Channel 4 clearly agreeing, having already greenlit a second season before it had even hit US screens. Patience Season 2 officially began filming back in May 2025, with the ever-brilliant Doctor Who and Bridget Jones star Jessica Hynes joining the cast.

'Wait, That's a Different Crowley': Supernatural Star Gives Fans the SuperWho Crossover They Didn't Know They Needed
Image
During its 15-season run, Supernatural was popular at the same time as other pop culture hits. Back in the early 2010s, other major favorites were Doctor Who and Sherlock, and they often included the same fandoms.

Back when Tumblr was a staple of the rise of fandoms, a joint name for all of them was born: SuperWhoLock. The three shows aired at the same time, but on different channels and countries, as Supernatural first aired on The WB and later The CW, while Sherlock and Doctor Who were from the UK's BBC. Years later, Supernatural star Misha Collins gave fans the SuperWho crossover they didn't know they needed, sharing a photo on Instagram with Doctor Who's David Tennant.

In the photo, Collins was smiling, posing with Tennant, with the words "Super-Who?" written at the top of the picture.

‘A Completely Mad Idea’: Former Doctor Reacts to Billie Piper’s Controversial Return to Doctor Who
Image
Doctor Whojust pulled off one of the most controversial moves in its six-decade run. Ncuti Gatwa regenerated into Billie Piper, the woman who played the Ninth Doctor's companion Rose Tyler, and fans had very mixed feelings to say the least.

And Peter Davison, the man who portrayed the Fifth Doctor has mixed feelings too. He shared his thoughts with Starburst magazine recently. "I don’t know what Billie Piper is doing," he said. "I have just read about it, and I don’t know what it’s about. It’s a completely mad idea."

"I don't think she is the Doctor,"he went on. And indeed, at the end of the regeneration episode Piper was notably not named in the credits as "The Doctor" - they simply said, "And introducing Billie Piper." Fans have all sorts of theories about who this new regeneration could be. Perhaps she's somehow Rose Tyler herself.

Former ‘Doctor Who’ Actor, 74, Shares His Thoughts on the Show’s Latest Regeneration: “It’s Kind of Just a Hand Grenade”
Image
It's been nearly a month since Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor regenerated into Billie Piper in the Season 2 finale of Doctor Who. This moment shocked many, and some questioned whether this returning actress would be a new incarnation of the Doctor. According to this former Doctor, he doesn't think that's the case.

In an interview with Starburst Magazine, Peter Davison predicts that Piper's return in "The Reality War" isn't a new Doctor introduction. Instead, it's just a way for the show to create shock value. Davison also acknowledges that Piper's role as Rose was good, that she was a great companion, that her character was written differently and made a great career out of it, and questions why she would "voluntarily choose to go back to Cardiff for a year."

"I don’t know what Billie Piper is doing. I have just read about it, and I don’t know what it’s about.

"It's A Completely Mad Idea": Former Doctor Who Star Doesn't Think Billie Piper Is The Sixteenth Doctor
Peter Davison
Peter Davison, who portrayed the Fifth Doctor in Doctor Who's original run, doesn't believe Billie Piper is meant to be the Sixteenth Doctor. When the Doctor Who season 15 finale premiered last month, the ending shocked audiences worldwide. Though there had been rumors for some time that Ncuti Gatwa was set to leave the show after just two seasons, the Fifteenth Doctor's regeneration changed the game, with Billie Piper seemingly taking on the role of the Sixteenth Doctor following her original stint as companion Rose Tyler alongside Christopher Eccleston's Ninth and David Tennant's Tenth.

Unlikely and surprising regenerations have been something of a trend during the latest batch of Doctor Who episodes, with David Tennant's brief reprise as the Fourteenth Doctor in the 60th anniversary specials and the introduction of bi-generation, which allowed Ncuti Gatwa's and Tennant's Doctors to exist simultaneously (keeping the door open for any future...

David Tennant and Peter Capaldi Team-Up for a ‘Doctor Who’ Return With a Timey-Wimey Twist
Image
One of Doctor Who's titular Time Lord's main mantras is to, above all, be kind. Now, two of the show's best-loved lead actors, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi, are returning to the sci-fi franchise to do just that alongside fellow alumni.

As reported via Radio Times, Tennant, Capaldi, and other Doctor Who icons, including Jodie Whittaker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Chris Chibnall, Steven Moffat, and Hugh Bonneville, have contributed to Sophie Aldred's new book all about the famous jacket of her former Tardis traveling companion, Ace. Star Trek's Patrick Stewart Once Played A Shakespearean Character On Tng, And You Probably Missed It
Image
The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Defector" begins with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) watching Data (Brent Spiner) enacting a scene from William Shakespeare's "Henry V" on the holodeck. For those who missed reading "Henry V" in high school, the story follows the young, recently crowned King Henry as he gears up to invade France. The young Hal struggles to be taken seriously, as his youth was spent carousing with drunks and lowlifes (as seen in "Henry IV" parts I and II). Hal, however, proves to be an inspiring battlefield presence, giving his fellow Englishmen the encouraging speeches they need to charge into battle. The play culminates at the Battle of Agincourt, which took place in 1415.

On "Star Trek," the scene that Data performs comes from Act IV, scene I, when King Henry has disguised himself as one of his own soldiers. He aims to infiltrate his men...

‘Good Omens’ Ending With 90-Minute Episode: When Will It Be Released?
Image
The story of the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) will be coming to an end with a Good Omens 90-minute episode, not a third season. The change came following allegations of sexual assault against Neil Gaiman, who wrote the book of the same name with Sir Terry Pratchett. He did not work on the production following those allegations but did contribute to the writing of the series finale. The Prime Video, over its first two seasons, follows Aziraphale and Crowley’s attempt to stop Armageddon after the antichrist’s birth, then hiding an amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from Heaven and Hell. The movie has been filmed, but when will it be released? Below, we’re gathering everything we know about the end of Good Omens. When will the Good Omens Season 3 movie premiere? In December 2023, it was announced that the series would be ending with a third season.

Jason Statham's New Action Thriller Declared "A Classic" by Co-star Naomi Ackie
Image
Action icon and The Beekeeper star Jason Statham will soon unite with frequent Gerard Butler collaborator and Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh for what’s sure to be action thriller magic. While several details, including the title of the movie, are being kept under wraps for now, MovieWeb’s own George Edelman had the chance to speak exclusively with Statham’s co-star, Mickey 17 star Naomi Ackie, about the action outing. And the hype train is now chugging...

While Ackie, who has seen her star rise rapidly following outstanding performances in the likes of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Blink Twice, and Mickey 17, wasn’t able to give too much away, she did declare the movie “a classic,” before heaping praise on The Stath.

“Oh, it was so much fun. I don't know if I can give anything away. You know, it's, it's such a different,...

Michael Sheen doesn't know "what's going to happen" with the Good Omens finale
Image
Good Omens started life as a 1990 novel about an angle and a demon who team up to prevent the apocalypse, co-written by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. In 2019, Gaiman turned the book into a TV show, with Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley. A second season took the story beyond the pages of the original book, and a third was set to finish the story.

Things got complicated when Gaiman was accused of sexual impropriety by multiple women, allegations he has denied. Gaiman stepped back from the third season of the show, which was reimagined as a feature-length final episode rather than a full season of TV. Amazon has yet to set a release date for its debut on Prime Video. Still, we assumed we were going to get it sooner or later.

Michael Sheen doesn't sound as sure. "I really...

'Good Omens' Finale Gets Doubtful Release Update From Michael Sheen
Image
For a while, it looked like Good Omens fans were going to get a full third season to round out the fantasy drama based on the characters created by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Then it became a one-shot feature-length episode following the allegations of assault leveled at Gaiman by several women. Now, star Michael Sheen has cast doubt on whether fans will even get to see that conclusion to the series in a new interview with The Times.

Good Omens was a novel that fell into the category of being unfilmable for a very long time, but when it finally did come to life, with Sheen partnering with David Tennant to lead the series, fans instantly made it a hit. Despite the death of Pratchett meaning there was no chance of a follow-up novel, he and Gaiman discussed where a sequel could go and therefore Season 2 came into being.
