Christopher Plummer died peacefully at his Connecticut home on Feb. 5 at age 91. Elaine Taylor, his wife and best friend for 53 years, was by his side.

I was in awe of Chris starting in 1969, when I was just out of film school in London and saw him as the lead in The Royal Hunt of the Sun. I wanted to work with him ever since. He was so gracious, and meeting him for the first time was enthralling.

Christian Roberts and Elaine Taylor in El aniversario (1968)
Each fall, Plummer and his wife, Elaine Taylor, transform into snowbirds, moving their home base from Weston, Connecticut, to Palm Beach, Florida. But this year, those plans were waylaid in a major way when Plummer, 88, got a call in November about replacing disgraced actor Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, a herculean and nearly unprecedented effort considering that the movie — recounting the kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson — was done and scheduled for a Christmas release. Plummer said yes and was on set three days later. His nomination for his portrayal of...

Christopher Plummer Talks Panic That Hits At Age 80
Michael Mann
New York — Ewan McGregor was having a hard time keeping up with Christopher Plummer.

At the suggestion of director Mike Mills, McGregor had brought his 81-year-old co-star to Barney's in Los Angeles to pick up a scarf for Plummer's elderly gay character in their film "Beginners." But Plummer had other designs.

"I'm glad (my ambition) is still there," said Plummer in a recent interview. "If it faded, what's there to live for?...
