  • Graduated from the Technical School for Aircraft Engine Construction in Wroclaw.
  • In his childhood he displayed interest in designing bridges and buildings.
  • For many years he struggled against being labeled a comedian.
  • He received the Golden Cross of Merit decoration in 1978.
  • He loves dogs. He got a west highland white terrier named Asteriks Vena as a birthday gift from his wife.
  • He likes to read and his favorite author is the British writer Ray Cooney.
  • His wife and daughters work in advertising.
  • He met his wife while in school. They have two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson, named after him.
  • He considers the role of count Ponimirski in the excellent TV series "Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy" (1980), directed by Jan Rybkowski and Marek Nowicki, as his best movie performance.
  • Great fame brought him the role of Mary in comedy "Poszukiwany, poszukiwana". He did not want the part but the director, Stanislaw Bareja, called him and paid him such frequent visits at home that to give his family back their peace he finally agreed. His popularity was so burdensome that he had to change his phone number a few times, and even had to move.
  • His movie debut was a small episode in "Przygoda na Mariensztacie" in 1953, directed by Leonard Buczkowski.
  • He never liked cinema and considers himself a very bad movie actor.
  • His most memorable performances in the TV Theater (shown in Polish TV on Monday nights) were: Michal Lagena in "Dozywocie" by Aleksander Fredro, directed by Jacek Woszczerowicz (1968); Joe in "Przygoda w Manon Farm" based on "The Pickwick Club" by Charles Dickens, directed by Lech Komarnicki (1971); Papkin in "Zemsta" by Aleksander Fredro, directed by Jan Swiderski (1972); Zewakin in "Ozenek" by Mikolaj Gogol, directed by Ewa Bonaska (1976); Heliodor in "Marcowy Kawaler" by Jozef Blizinski, directed by Jozef Slotwinski (1980).
  • In 1991 he transferred to the Kwadrat Theater, which specialized in a light, comedy repertoire, at which he remained until his retirement in 2001.
  • In 1958 he was hired at the Drama Theater in Warsaw. He initially only got small parts. During that time his colleague, Wieslaw Golas, used to tease him at every opportunity, especially during rehearsals, as Pokora was tickled by him to no end for no other reason than appearance and manner of speaking.
  • Was a teacher at the PWST acting school in Warsaw.
  • He was greatly influenced by his PWST professors, some of them accomplished and famous actors: Hanna Bielicka, Kazimierz Rudzki, Ludwik Sempolinski, Aleksander Zelwerowicz.
  • He played William on stage in Shakespeare's "As You Like It", directed by Wladyslaw Krasnowiecki (1957), during his studies.
