After completion of the "Hesselbach", Helga Neuner finished her acting career in 1963 and became largely retired from public life. She married the film composer Rolf Wilhelm, the brother of director Kurt Wilhelm (1923 - 2009).

During her school years, she took singing lessons and received dance training. After finishing school, she completed an acting education.

Her husband was the film composer Rolf Alexander Wilhelm.
