The Soul Reapers are the main faction in Bleach, and their main job is to purify corrupted spirtis that feed on the souls of living and dead humans. These spirits are called Hollows, and some of them possess unique supernatural powers. Sosuke Aizen wanted to break the boundaries between Soul Reapers and Hollows, and his experiments led to the creation of the Vizards. There are only a handful of Vizards in existence, and they are all quite strong.

The majority of the Vizards started off as Lieutenant or Captain-level Soul Reapers, and most of them had to fight their Inner Hollow in order to use their Hollow Masks properly. Some Vizards can only use Shikai, but many of them can also use Bankai, and they are all good fighters. Aizen considers the original Vizards to be failed test subjects, but he did manage to turn one of his subordinates into a perfected Visored.

The global video streaming giant Netflix continues its push into the anime space with Pluto, an exciting anime adaptation of an Astro Boy story that is filled with intrigue, tension, and classic tech noir drama.

In a February 15, 2023, statement, Netflix announced that it will stream Pluto, the animated series based on Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki's manga of the same name later this year. The series is being produced by the long-time Japanese anime production unit Genco in collaboration with Astro Boy's creator Osamu Tezuka's animation company Tezuka Productions. In response to the announcement, creator Urasawa stated, “I applaud the courage of everyone that has taken on the challenge of making an anime based on Pluto. Netflix has ordered an anime series based on the acclaimed manga Pluto. The series is produced by Genco, with animation by M2Studio and is set for release later this year.

The Japanese voice cast includes Shinshu Fuji as Gesicht, Yoko Hikasa as Atom and Minori Suzuki as Uran. Watch a sneak peak below.

Praised by many as a masterpiece, the manga Pluto is based on Tezuka’s Astro Boy “The Greatest Robot on Earth” arc from 1964 and created by Naoki Urasawa and his long-time co creator Takashi Nagasaki. Macoto Tezka supervises with the cooperation of Tezuka Productions.

The suspense drama takes place in a neo-futuristic world where humans and high-functioning robots live in complete harmony. The globally acclaimed manga has won numerous awards, including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The 2015 stage adaptation of Pluto returned in 2018 by popular demand and toured Japan and Europe.

Comic-Con International has announced the nominations for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards for 2015. The nominees, chosen by a blue-ribbon panel of judges, highlight the wide range of material being published in comics and graphic novel form today, from companies big and small, in print and on line. The awards will be given out during a gala ceremony on Friday, July 10 during Comic-Con International: San Diego.
