Some of the best sitcoms live and breathe on the diverse idiosyncrasies of its talented ensemble. If every character talks, acts, and says the same things in the same way, there wouldn't be anything for them to bounce off of, especially on a show like "Seinfeld." The hit NBC sitcom thrives on four different corners of the New York friend group sowing chaos wherever they go in the manner they see fit, inadvertently or not. Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) is an exaggerated reflection of the comedian lifestyle, often being the one to point out the bizarre observations of his friends' lives. His right-hand man, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), on the other hand, is a tried and true neurotic who's very full of himself and will do just about anything to make certain opportunities work out in his favor. From a distance, Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is the most responsible member of the group,...

If there's one thing you don't want to be in the world of "Seinfeld," it's a promising business. It already takes a considerable amount of money to set up a good location, let alone one in New York. Anyone who's ever worked in customer service has come across the kinds of patrons that only make your job that much more difficult, so imagine your clientele being Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), George (Jason Alexander) and Kramer (Michael Richards). Together, those four have been partially responsible for shuttering places like Hot Soup, Leapin Larry's Electronics and The Mom and Pop Store. It shouldn't come as a total surprise considering they're walking forces of chaos, but sometimes they find themselves in the right.
In "The Non-Fat Yogurt," a new yogurt shop that Kramer has invested in is booming on account of its tasty treats. The "Seinfeld" characters can't get enough of it,...

It's not uncommon for recurring characters on a popular sitcom to receive successful spin-off shows. For example, "Happy Days" spawned "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy," the latter of which originated from what was first thought of as a "horrible" episode script. On the other end of the spectrum, you've got shows like "Seinfeld," which drew impressive audiences back in the day but didn't give birth to any sort of spin-off series.
However, it wasn't for a lack of trying that the "show about nothing" has nothing by way of spin-offs. George Costanza actor Jason Alexander pitched a couple of spin-off ideas, one of which would have centered on Cosmo Kramer's (Michael Richards) lawyer, Jackie Chiles (Phil Morris), who was a parody of O.J. Simpson's defense attorney Johnnie Cochran. And as it turns out, Morris made a similar pitch, as he stated at a 1999 press event (via the...

Many fans (this writer included), whether they are casual moviegoers or genuine film buffs, seem to be in agreement that Dave Bautista is the best WWE star turned actor. Look no further than his brief role in 2017's "Blade Runner 2049" (a movie that was simply too good to be a box office hit) to see just how much emotional gravitas he can bring to a character, even one with very minimal screen time.
However, before the former WWE champion began tearing it up on the silver screen with heavyweight directors like Denis Villeneuve and James Gunn, he was getting his start on The CW's "Smallville." Bautista made his acting debut in the show's sixth season, playing Aldar, a powerful criminal entity who is accidentally released from the Phantom Zone. While the character only appears in one episode, he leaves an incredibly bloody impression.

What characters should have received their own Seinfeld spin-offs?
Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld had the correct answer: none. Jason Alexander, who played George Constanza for the sitcom’s entire run, had other ideas. In a 2016 appearance on the Id1ot w/Chris Hardwick podcast, as reported by SlashFilm, Alexander floated two pitches that he believed could have been the next Frasier. Both premises sound like they would have been the next Joey.
First up? “The number one that I thought, through the roof, would’ve been the four parents down at the condo in Florida. That would’ve been unbelievable,” Alexander gushed. “I don’t think (NBC) ever looked at it.”
The likely reason the network never considered the idea: All four parents were insufferable. Jerry’s dad, Morty, was such a blowhard that he got impeached as president of a condo association. His mom, Helen, is a shoplifter...

"Smallville" ran for 10 seasons, but its impact can't be measured only by how long it stayed on the air. The CW's Arrowverse doesn't exist without "Smallville." Now, "Arrow" did not share a continuity with "Smallville" and it recast its Oliver Queen. But still, even without "Arrow" being a proper "Smallville" spin-off, The CW greenlighting a Green Arrow show clearly happened because "Smallville" had introduced the character to their audience.
But there could've been a Green Arrow-led TV series much sooner, one starring Justin Hartley. During "Smallville" season 6, writer Steven DeKnight was working on a Justice League spin-off.
Beginning in season 4 of "Smallville," Clark Kent (Tom Welling) slowly begins meeting other DC superheroes. In "Run," it's Bart Allen/Impulse (Kyle Gallner). Season 5 had Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Alan Ritchson) in "Aqua" and then Victor Stone/Cyborg (Lee Thompson Young) in, well, "Cyborg." Then season 6 brought in Green Arrow (Hartley) as a recurring character.

Third Rock and the firefighters are needed for calls tonight, Friday, March 21. There isn’t a new episode of Fire Country on tonight, and there isn’t a rerun either.
We’re hitting a point in the schedule that we don’t all like when it comes to our favorite shows. Sports take over, and it means we have to wait until April for new episodes to air. At least there’s Paramount+ to be able to catch up on the series.
Why isn’t there a new episode of Fire Country on tonight?
The lack of new episode of Fire Country is due to March Madness. This is the time that college basketball takes over CBS on Thursdays and Fridays, meaning no episodes of all our favorite shows.

Fire Country fans are living good right now. The show was renewed for a fourth season by CBS, in what was probably the least surprising decision on the network's entire slate of shows. The drama has been a ratings titan since it debuted, and has continued to electrify fans between its action and character dynamics.
The show will not be alone, though. 2025-26 will not only yield a new season of Fire Country, but an all new spinoff titled Sheriff Country. The law enforcement is set to debut the 2025-26 season, but CBS seems to like what they have seen thus far. The two shows will run concurrently on CBS, which means Country is officially a franchise.

If you love Chicago Fire, these are more shows like it for fans of firefighting drama!
Since 2012, Chicago Fire has been a mainstay for NBC. The kickoff of the One Chicago universe still enthralls viewers by balancing exciting emergencies with strong characters. Fans love to watch these firemen (and women) risking their lives while bonding as friends and romances.
There have been some shows like it, and many are quite similar to Chicago Fire. They can use the same thrills and drama while others focus more on the characters. A few stand out for their setting and even a light-hearted tone. For any fan of Chicago Fire, these nine shows are just the thing to fire up your TV binges!

Fire Country went on its winter break with a cliffhanger. It’s time to see how it all plays out in the new episode, airing tonight. Friday, Jan. 31.
Yes, after a long winter break, Fire Country is back with new episodes. This one picks up off the back of the cliffhanger at the end of the fall finale. After all, we needed something to keep us coming back, right—was the fun of the show not enough?
Manny needs to save his daughter in Fire Country season 3, episode 9
The episode will need to pick up off the ending for Gabriela. After storming off like a teenager, she paid absolutely no attention to her surroundings. She ended up in the middle of a wildfire. Look, this is something that I would expect from normal Joe Blog off the street, but not from a firefighter.

In Fire Country's winter premiere episode, everything is red hot! The Chezem fire continues to burn, and while everyone has something to lose, no one else is watching everything he's worked for burn to ashes like Elroy Edwards (Phil Morris), Eve's (Jules Latimer) dad. Lives are at risk, tensions are high, and property is getting destroyed. "The premiere is just a freight train," Fire Country's showrunner Tia Napolitano told TV Insider of Fire Country Season 3, Episode 9, "Coming in Hot," which picks up after its predecessor. CBS released a sneak peek of the January 31 episode, which shows Elroy confronting Vince (Billy Burke) over the past after sustaining even more losses due to the fire. Below is the episode's official logline, which previews the various arcs it'll tackle.

Jerry Seinfeld and his gang made viewers laugh with their ‘show about nothing’ for nine seasons. Fans expected the near-perfect series to go out with a comedy bang. Instead, Seinfeld opted to make the most divisive finales in sitcom history. The two-part finale saw the four central characters finally facing the consequences of all their past misdeeds.

Many fans thought that the episode did not align with the tone of the show. Viewers didn’t want to see their favorite characters put in jail, despite how despicable the characters were. In retrospect, a large number of fans have started seeing the Seinfeld finale in a more positive light.

The fictional Jerry Seinfeld has never been particularly lucky in love. Sure, he dated plenty of women throughout the show's nine seasons, but he didn't exactly have long-lasting, meaningful relationships with any of them. His closest female relationship is with his ex-girlfriend and ever-present friend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), which is kind of refreshingly open-minded for a guy like Jerry, but that means there just weren't very many long-term girlfriend guest roles on "Seinfeld." In fact, Seinfeld's longest onscreen romance lasted for just four episodes, and it was with Rachel (Melanie Smith), who made out with him during a screening of "Schindler's List" and absolutely horrified Seinfeld's nearby nemesis, Newman (Wayne Knight). While she's not the most memorable of Seinfeld's girlfriends because she's at least somewhat normal, Smith gives a good performance and manages to hold her own alongside some of TV's funniest comedians of the '90s.

Behind every great man, as the old, outdated expression goes, there’s a great woman — and there’s a pretty decent chance she’s been played by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

However, she has been aiming to rectify that by repairing relationships from the past that she burned when she decided to leave the family legacy behind and pursue her passion for firefighting. The Young and the Restless recently surprised us with an unexpected casting. Amy Lewis, a character not seen since 1988, will return to Genoa City on October 29, and the great Valarie Pettiford will play her.
What You Need to Know About Amy Lewis
Back in the day, Amy Lewis was a supporting character who was sweet and supportive. When Pettiford reintroduces Amy to the people of Genoa City — many of whom are still around after all these years — it’ll be wonderful to see how much the character has changed. After all, if you’ve seen Pettiford in any of her roles, like the late great Upn sitcom Half & Half, she’s naturally larger-than-life.
Here’s what you need to know about Amy Lewis:
The Og Amy Lews was Stephanie E. Williams, who played the character from 1983 to 1988 before she moved on to play Dr. Simone Hardy on General Hospital...

2001's Smallville is fondly remembered as one of the most influential shows in the superhero genre. Following Tom Welling as a teenage Clark Kent, the CW series ran for 10 seasons, and it remains the longest-running live-action superhero show. Throughout its run, Smallville introduced a lot of Superman and DC lore to the small screen. Major DC characters like Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Martian Manhunter (Phil Morris), Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort), and more play substantial roles in Clark's journey to become Superman. However, the biggest setup in Smallville is the foundation it laid for the Justice League.
The first major DC hero, aside from Clark, to appear on Smallville was Bart Allen/Impulse in season 4 episode 5 "Run." Impulse was followed by Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Victor Stone/Cyborg in season 5 before Oliver Queen/Green Arrow completed the roster in season 6. Seinfeld isn’t exactly known for being the most political show, with the possible exception of Kramer’s brief stint as a socialist Santa Claus, and Jerry’s exclusively pastry-based calls for racial unity. But, oddly enough, one episode went to great lengths to incorporate the results of a real-life election at the last minute.
Season Five’s “The Non-Fat Yogurt” found Elaine dating Lloyd Braun, an aide to New York Mayor David Dinkins, during an election. Dinkins ultimately lost to Rudy Giuliani, and in the reality of the show, this was mostly thanks to Jerry’s tip that an allegedly fat-free frozen yogurt brand had been misleading customers, which Giuliani pledged to investigate
You can tell that his cameo was filmed a long time ago, because Giuliani is seen giving his press conference in some kind of wood paneled office, not a ramshackle landscaping business that happens to share...

James Gunn's latest social media post might not seem like much, but it teases an iconic Justice League character joining the DC Universe. Gunn is the co-president of DC Studios, looking to launch a new era of interconnected stories across film and television. Creature Commandos is set for release later this year, while Superman has finished filming and will open in theaters next summer. Gunn has been active on social media teasing the various projects, and his latest might hint at a significant DC hero.
Gunn took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a photo of a box of cookies called Chocos. Chocos are fictional chocolate sandwich cookies similar to Oreos in the DC Universe. They are famously the favorite food and addiction of the DC hero Martian Manhunter. What appears to be a fun Easter Egg from the prop department for set dressing to fill out the alternate...

It’s about 8:15 in the morning on a warm, midsummer Friday about 40 miles north-northeast of the Hollywood TMZ, as I try to keep pace with the brown Porsche 911 in front of me.
We are winding through the back canyons of Angeles Crest Highway in Angeles National Forest on the way to Newcomb’s Ranch for the Good Vibes Breakfast Club. I pick up the walkie-talkie in the front seat of the Hyundai Elantra N — the tricked-out sport version of the brand’s sedan — and radio over, “Don’t wait for me, keep going.”
Moments later, the brown 911 — delightfully called “Rolling Coffee Bean” by its owner, actor and comedian Byron Bowers — speeds off through the straightaways and esses of Little Tujunga Canyon until it’s a smudge in the distance.

In the "Futurama" episode "I Second That Emotion", the crass alcoholic robot Bender (John Dimaggio), having become fed up with Leela's pet whatsit Nibbler (Frank Welker), flushes him down the toilet. Leela (Katey Sagal) is distraught, but Bender is fecklessly unapologetic. The Professor (Billy West) finds that Bender may be incapable of empathy, and solves the issue by hammering a high-tech emotions chip into his head. The chip psychically links to Leela, and Bender begins feeling horrible. To solve their mutual sadness, Bender and Leela decide to go into the sewers to rescue Nibbler.
In the lore of "Futurama," the ruins of Old New York are deep underground and the city of New New York was built on its ruins.
Before going into the sewers, though, Leela finds a nearby manhole cover and removes it with a manhole hook. The manhole cover bears the face of a bored-looking man,...

Modern Family is back… but don’t expect a reboot.
Four of the original cast members of the ABC sitcom are returning to their roles, starring in a new commercial for WhatsApp, the chat platform owned by Meta.
The stars, Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett), are reprising their roles for the spot, which pokes fun at group chats in which some members have an iPhone and a blue bubble, and others have an Android phone with a dreaded green bubble.
The platform is pitching itself as a solution to that “divide,” using the ABC sitcom as a hook.

First debuting in 1989, Seinfeld is regarded by many as the greatest sitcom of all time and consistently ranks among most people's top ten. Known for its sharp, witty humor, quotable dialogue and relatable characters, the series ran for nine seasons and was the brainchild of Larry David. Casting Jerry Seinfeld as a fictionalized version of himself, the series focuses on the comedian, his friends George and Elaine, and his neighbor, Cosmo Kramer.
Seinfeld left audiences with a variety of cultural touchstones, stemming from its recurring jokes and quotable lines, like the friends' exaggerated "hello!" greeting. The series has an impressive list of jokes that would make regular appearances and could come in the form of dialogue or even characters. While they weren't all there from the beginning, these jokes helped make the show the icon that it was and still is.

There are deep ties between Star Trek and Seinfeld, with over 30 actors appearing in both iconic shows. Notable actors like Phil Morris and Brian George had roles in both Seinfeld and various Star Trek series. Connections between Star Trek and Seinfeld continue through current projects, showcasing the lasting impact of these beloved TV shows.
Unsurprisingly, given their prominence throughout the 1990s, there was considerable crossover of actors between the Star Trek franchise and Seinfeld. Premiering in 1989, the Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld-created sitcom left a huge cultural impact that continues to be felt to this day. Jerry Seinfeld took a shot at Friends in a new digital short promoting his new film Unfrosted, a comedy about the creation of Pop-Tarts.
Seinfeld made his directorial debut in the Netflix film about how the toaster pastries came to be. A new short ahead of the film’s release on May 3, Seinfeld visits Kellogg’s corporate offices in Michigan due to “trademark infringement.”
“You see, Mr. Seinfeld, you took something of ours, and now we’re going to take something of yours,” says the fictional President of Pop-Tarts, Kelman P. Gasworth.
Tarty, the Pop-Tarts mascot, then proceeds to unveil former Seinfeld characters trapped in a box. Making a cameo in the spot are Alexandra Wentworth’s Schmoopie, Phil Morris’s Jackie Chiles and Larry Thomas’ The Soup Nazi.

Pop-Tarts is getting back at Jerry Seinfeld.
It all started when Seinfeld directed and co-wrote a movie, Unfrosted, about the origin of Pop-Tarts. He also stars in the film, which hits Netflix on May 3.
Unfrosted tells the (fictional) origin story of Pop-Tarts, which resulted in a race between breakfast rivals Kellogg’s and Post to create a pastry for the masses in 1963. While Pop-Tarts do indeed have an origin story, this is not it. (The idea had been percolating with Seinfeld for several years — he even made jokes about Pop-Tarts in his stand-up routine and once tweeted he was mulling over the idea of this film — but Pop-Tarts was not involved in the making of Unfrosted.)
“This really did happen in Battle Creek, Michigan, where Kellogg’s and Post were located, and they did compete to come up with this product,” Seinfeld has said. “But the rest of it is complete lunacy.

The greatest love of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Quark (Armin Shimerman) may have been gold pressed latinum, but the Ferengi bartender did have a handful of genuine romantic connections across DS9's seven seasons. Quark was instrumental in changing how the Ferengi were presented following their fumbled introduction as Star Trek: The Next Generation villains. Through Quark, his brother Rom (Max Grodenchik) and his nephew Nog (Aron Eisenberg), the Ferengi characters in Deep Space Nine were multi-layered members of an alien species and not two-dimensional stock bad guys.
Star Trek: The Next Generation's Ferengi were sleazy misogynists who saw women as objects, but that wasn't the case for characters like Rom in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Quark's brother Rom fell in love with Leeta (Chase Masterson), and the two went on to have a hugely positive impact on Ferengi culture. The Seinfeld ending was highly controversial and still divides fans today, with some feeling it failed to live up to the show's overall brilliance. The final episode featured a comedic take on the "Good Samaritan Law" and included memorable cameos from beloved side characters. Despite the criticism, the ending stayed true to the characters and the show's mantra of "no hugging, no learning," and a revival or continuation would cheapen the closure provided by the original ending.
Despite the love fans had for the series overall, few episodes of television have been as controversial as the Seinfeld ending. "The Finale," which originally aired on May 14, 1998, was an hour-long episode that brought back just about every character Jerry, George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), or Kramer (Michael Richards) wronged throughout the show's nine-year run. Smallville includes many powerful characters in addition to Clark Kent. Airing over the course of a decade from 2001 to 2011, Smallville focuses on a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) as he learns of his Kryptonian heritage, hones his powers, and develops a friendship with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). While Smallville serves as a Superman origin series first and foremost, he is far from the only character on the show to possess superpowers. Phil Morris, who played the beloved Seinfeld character Jackie Chiles, tried and failed to launch a spinoff series after the show had ended. Chiles was a parody of the flamboyant lawyer Johnnie Cochrane, who had represented celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, and most notably, O.J. Simpson. In the show, Jackie Chiles was the lawyer of Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and represented him in several ludicrous court cases between Seinfeld seasons 7 and 9.
Over the years, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld have had no interest in spinoffs and Jerry recently made his thoughts clear on why a Seinfeld revival won't happen. Given the huge success of Seinfeld, it's surprising that the response to a spinoff idea was mooted, as networks are usually reluctant to give up their most popular shows. One of the most popular sitcoms on TV when Seinfeld ended in 1997 was Frasier, itself a spinoff from the hit show Cheers.

Onetime Disney Channel starlet Bella Thorne says that she was nearly made to bow out of Shake It Up!, due to a choice in beachwear.
As a recent guest on the High Low With EmRata podcast, Thorne recounted instances of being sexualized as a preteen and teen, including an instance where, at age 10, she said a casting agent reported back to her mom, “she’s not moving forward because the director felt like she was flirting with him, and it made him really uncomfortable.”

Series stars Brendan Fraser (“Robotman”), April Bowlby (“Elasti-Woman”), Joivan Wade (“Cyborg”), and Michelle Gomez (“Madame Rouge”) participated in a panel during the 2022 New York Comic Con to briefly discuss what we can expect from season four.
April Bowlby on Rita as a leader:
“I’m really proud of Rita for taking the leadership role. She’s always looking for something that she belongs to, something to define herself with. It was acting…that didn’t go so well. She tried to be the Beekeeper…that didn’t go so well.

This supernatural thriller digs deep into the underbelly of a weird backwoods idyll
Developed from a 2016 short, Matt Glass and Jordan Wayne Long’s post-us Civil War supernatural thriller isn’t just atmospheric and characterful, it’s an often shrewd allegory of the US self-image as the shining “city on a hill”. Thomas Hobson plays James McCune, a black doctor and war veteran nurturing physical and psychological wounds, who is summoned by his Uncle Matthew (Phil Morris) to a post in Norfolk, a walled town sequestered deep in the Ozark forest. When he arrives, he is shocked to encounter a biracial paradise where, as the preachy saloon murals have it, “To each their purpose”. But there are strict rules, imposed by Matthew, about venturing beyond the palisade where horned ghosts are apt to emerge from banks of red fog with a particular hunger for local troublemakers. As another mural counsels,...
