Richie Rich, the 1994 comedy starring Macaulay Culkin, is a streaming success. The film, currently available on the Netflix library, has spent a few days on the streamer's top 10 list of most popular movies. Richie Rich is sitting in the eighth spot at the time of writing, while other titles on the list include The Menu, Back in Action, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Directed by Donald Petrie, Richie Rich is based on the comic book character of the 1950s. The character also had an animated cartoon show in the 1980s, which was then revived in 1996 after the release of the movie. Richie Rich only made $76 million from a $40 million production budget and had a mixed reception by critics; it currently has a 27% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although it was considered a box office flop, Richie Rich blew up the home video market and made an estimated $125 million in home video sales.

Disney has produced plenty of great animated TV shows over the years, from the 1980s to the 2020s. Starting with shows like Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and DuckTales, Disney reinvented some of their classic characters for TV. Later, they started developing original TV concepts that didn't rely on existing characters, but these shows became iconic in their own right.

Disney has never had quite as many iconic cartoons as other networks - like Cartoon Network, for example - because they also produced live-action TV shows for younger audiences. Still, there have been some animated classics over the years, from shows like Kim Possible and Recess in the 2000s to modern hits like Amphibia and The Owl House. Disney cartoons are often categorized by their sense of adventure, combining crowdpleasing humor with exciting stories.

Hasbro’s Entertainment One (eOne) is rolling the D&d dice — betting that Dungeons & Dragons fans will flock to a new free, ad-supported streaming television (Fast) channel dedicated to the fantasy franchise it’s prepping for a summer launch.

The Dungeons & Dragons Adventures Fast channel is expected to be available on “a number” of platforms but eOne has not cut any distribution deals as yet, according to the company.

The channel will feature a slate of original celebrity-focused unscripted series, including “Encounter Party,” “Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!” and “Heroes’ Feast,” as well as catalog content including the 1980s “Dungeons & Dragons” animated series. In addition, the Fast channel is to feature third-party content from top internet creators and influencers with a focus on live gameplay.

In 1983, Marvel Productions and Tsr partnered with Toei Animation to create a cartoon based on Dungeons & Dragons. It followed six children named Hank (Willie Aames), Eric (Don Most), Sheila (Katie Leigh), Diane (Tonia Gayle Smith), Bobby (Ted Field III), and Presto (Adam Rich), who fall through a portal at an amusement park to another world. Their only way home is to listen to Dungeon Master (Sidney Miller), a powerful being caught in a feud with the evil Venger (Peter Cullen).

Will Ryan, the veteran voice actor known for breathing life into such classic Disney characters as Willie the Giant and Peg-Leg Pete, who also once served as the president of international animation organization Asifa, died on Friday afternoon following a short battle with cancer. He was 72.

Ryan’s passing was confirmed to Deadline by his CelebWorx agent, Nery Lemus.

Born on May 21, 1949, Ryan embarked on his career in the 1980s, finding a breakthrough role in the pteranodon Petrie from Universal’s animated dinosaur classic, The Land Before Time. He’d go on to amass more than 100 screen credits in his nearly four-decade career, nabbing nominations from the Annie Awards and the WGA Awards, and winning a Behind the Voice Actor Award. Ryan was also nominated for an Emmy in 1998 as the producer of Outstanding Children’s Program contender The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, from Nickelodeon and The Jim Henson Company.

The villains of Sailor Moon season 5 have been cast!

When we covered Viz Media’s announcement of the new voice talent joining the Sailor Moon family, we couldn’t help but note a few absences. While we got the casting info for the Sailor Starlights, Sailor Galaxia, and Chibi-Chibi, there was nothing on Galaxia’s henchwomen, the Sailor Animamates.

Well, ask and you shall receive!

It’s been just barely a week, and we now know who will portray these animal/metal-themed villains of Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars.

2012 will be the first year that GeekTrant will invade WonderCon, mostly due to the fact that it was moved down to Anaheim, CA this year which is right in our backyard. We're all pretty excited about attending this year, as we've heard it's a much smaller more intimate version of San Diego Comic Con.

WonderCon is set to open on Friday, March 16th and run through Sunday, March 18th at the Anaheim Convention Center. If you plan on attending let us know, and maybe we can meet up and hang out for a bit!

If you were a young Muppet fan in the 1980s, Jim Henson's Muppet Babies series was surely a staple of your cartoon viewing. And now, a popular character from that TV show has returned after nearly 20 years away.

The idea for Jim Henson's Muppet Babies followed a dream sequence from The Muppets Take Manhattan feature film. In the movie, Miss Piggy imagines toddler versions of herself and her friends singing together in a nursery.

That idea was turned into a cartoon series in which the young characters would make up stories and get into messes. The show was unique in that each episode typically integrated live-action footage from well-known movies with animation. Voice artists for the series include Greg Berg, Dave Coulier, Katie Leigh, Howie Mandel, Laurie O'Brien, Russi Taylor, Frank Welker, and Barbara Billingsley.

Katy Leigh, a producer of marketing materials for films including "Up in the Air," has joined multiplatform content production company M3 Creative in its Burbank offices.

She is tasked with expanding M3’s focus on the theatrical, DVD, 3D and internet content portions of its business, M3 Creative president Andy Meyers said in Thursday's announcement.

M3 Creative, founded in 2004 as M3 Television, has established a strong foothold across all segments of the entertainment industry, including TV networks and TV and film studios.
