  • Brother of accomplished singer/songwriter, Ross Laverty. Ross, a longtime protege of the great Judy Davis, vocal coach of Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and numerous rockers.
  • Achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouting, Eagle Scout, while in his youth in Oakland, California. (Member of the Eagles Nest with Steven Spielberg, David Lynch, and others)
  • When he first decided on acting as a career, he paid for acting classes by working as a professional clown, making an estimated 5,000 balloon animals for kids.
  • Appeared on TV's classic show 'The Dating Game' during its final season on the air. As Bachelor #2, he joined other successful actors who had appeared on the show early in their careers including Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds.

  • His great-grandfather was a Methodist Preacher. Larry has played a preacher in three films so far.
  • One of his greatest pleasures is taking a road trip each year. The tradition began in 1987 and over the years he's experienced such things as being snowed in, caught up in the middle of a manhunt- surrounded by Sheriff's Deputies with guns drawn, and detained at the Canadian border in a case of mistaken identity.
  • He lived in a small town in Idaho for 8 years following high school. His experiences from this period have enabled him to give heartfelt performances in numerous films about life in small-town America.
  • Competed in the Winter Olympic sport of speedskating for 11 years before dedicating his life full-time to acting. On the road for much of each year, he supported himself by acting in TV commercials and working as a model.
  • Raced bicycles for a number of the years he was involved in speedskating, logging thousands of miles on the road throughout Northern California during training.
  • Was recruited by AT&T, UPS, and Aluma Glass Industries to take on management positions out of college but declined each job offer in order to pursue sports and the arts.

  • To get his career started in Los Angeles, Larry wrote, directed and produced a short film in which he starred along with various of his acting buddies. For his efforts, Larry received a Joey Award for Best Actor and was recruited by his first Hollywood agent.
  • He was an expert skier in his youth and occasionally worked as a ski lift operator.
  • Certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and Lifesaving he occasionally worked as a lifeguard.
  • Has been a member of the Teamsters Union for nearly 30 years, dating back to his days working for United Parcel Service.
  • Appeared opposite Rutger Hauer, one of his childhood acting heroes, in 'Dead Tone'.
  • At the age of 3, he nearly drowned in a swimming pool accident. Soon after, his parents enrolled him in swimming lessons. He went on to become an expert swimmer, just missing the California state record for his age group in the mile swim and he also became an expert high diver. In 1999, for a movie stunt, he jumped off of the Dumbarton Train Bridge over San Francisco Bay.
