In 2007, she won a prize for best drama actress. She received the award for her portrayal of Elizabeth in Mary Stuart at the National Theatre.

In 1995, for her role in storm in my head for her role in the movie Havinck, she received a Golden Calf award.

She played her last role in the feature film The Good Death, to the same award-winning play. During the recording thereof in 2011, Van Kralingen was already ill.

She had two sons with actor Eric Schneider.
