- Although his primary successes were in operetta and musical comedy on stage, he spent four seasons with the Metropolitan Opera Company (1946-1947 - 1949-1950), where his most frequent roles were Count Almaviva in Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" and Arturo Bucklaw in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor." He spent his last years as a voice teacher and coach.
- Met his wife on the set of "Había una vez dos héroes (1934)" where she played the Queen of Hearts.
- Buried at Woodlawn Cemetery , Bronx, Bronx County, New York.
