Why Marvel's Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Was Canceled
Image
If you asked me what the finest adaptation of the Marvel Universe is, the 2010 cartoon "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" would have to be up there.

It was the second attempt at an Avengers cartoon, after the best forgotten "Avengers: United They Stand." "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," from the moment it premiered on Disney Xd, was much better. Developed by Marvel animation veterans Christopher Yost and Joshua Fine with director Ciro Nieli, "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" did what the (sadly short-lived) "Spectacular Spider-Man" did. It took the whole of "Avengers" comics, picked out the most famous stories and what worked, and streamlined a messy publication history into an epic saga.

Yost and Fine, as adult fans of Marvel Comics, were clearly writing with people like themselves in mind. But that wasn't to the detriment of young viewers! What kids got in "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" was a show that respected their intelligence and attention.

Why does Yoda speak backwards in Star Wars? Explain, George Lucas finally does
Image
The bizarre manner in which Yoda speaks has a monumental presence in global pop culture. You'd hear people who are not even Star Wars fans talk like that. But why was such an important character made to speak like that? George Lucas revealed the reason recently.

Appearing at a 45th anniversary screening of The Empire Strikes Back on the opening night of the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival, Lucas said he did it to make people pay attention.

"Yoda had a very distinctive way of talking, and it was done purposely because if you were speaking regular English, people don't listen that much," Lucas told TCM’s primetime host Ben Mankiewicz. “But if you have an accent, or it’s really hard to understand what he’s saying, they focus on what he’s saying."

"He was basically the philosopher of the movie, so he was talking about all the things.

The Most Popular Star Wars Character Is One of the Last George Lucas Helped Create, Says New Study
Image
After Star Wars Celebration wrapped up only a few weeks ago and Revenge of the Sith has returned to theaters everywhere to celebrate its 20th anniversary, there’s no better time to be a Star Wars fan than right now. The latest season of Andor recently hit Disney+ last week, and it’s already earned the title as the highest-rated Star Wars project ever. Fandom has conducted a new study on the Star Wars franchise by collecting data from fans, which has revealed the favorite characters, movie/TV shows, and even games.

Leading the charge for the favorite character is Ahsoka, voiced by Ashley Eckstein in animation and portrayed by Rosario Dawson in live-action. Following behind Ahsoka, in order, is Ben Solo (Adam Driver), Snoke (Andy Serkis), Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid), Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), Darth Maul (Sam Witwer/Ray Park), Darth Plagueis, Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley), Count Dooku (Christopher Lee...

"Oh, Impatient Is He?": Watch John Lithgow Reprise His Forgotten Role as Yoda From 'The Empire Strikes Back' [Exclusive]
Image
When you think of the iconic, word-twisting voice behind Jedi Master Yoda, the first name that probably comes to mind is Frank Oz, and rightfully so. Oz first voiced the character in The Empire Strikes Back, the 1980 Star Wars classic that earned over $550 million at the worldwide box office, and he recently lent his voice to the character in The Rise of Skywalker, the controversial final installment in the Skywalker Saga. However, there have been others to voice the small green Force-user, including Tom Kane, Piotr Michael, and even John Lithgow. Lithgow recently caught up with Collider’s Steve Weintraub for the film The Rule of Jenny Pen, and he spoke about not only remembering every detail about playing Yoda but also the hilarious way in which he first landed the role:...

'Powerpuff Girls' Live-Action Reboot Trailer Leaks Online
Image
Live-action adaptations of beloved animated shows are becoming another hot commodity, following the success of shows like Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender and Cowboy Bebop. The CW was also looking to capitalize on that popularity with a live-action adaptation of Cartoon Network's beloved The Powerpuff Girls. However, any attempts at transforming sugar, spice, and everything nice into live-action were halted in 2023 when the show was officially canceled. Two years later, a trailer for the CW's canceled Powerpuff Girls show has leaked online...and it's probably a good thing it was axed.

The new trailer, which comes to us via a post on Reddit, reveals the drastic changes made to the original show in the CW's version. The new series planned to age-up Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles into young adults who quit being superheroes after accidentally killing Mojo. Blossom ran away, Buttercup became a firefighter, and Bubbles became an...

Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Hugh Jackman in X-Men (2000)
X-Men: All 6 Magneto actors ranked from worst to best
Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Hugh Jackman in X-Men (2000)
The X-Men are Marvel’s Mightiest Mutants, but none of them are mightier than Magneto. Perhaps the most powerful of all mutants, Erik Lehnsherr made his first appearance in the comics in 1963 and he has endured the test of time, remaining of the most widely-recognized X-Men characters to this day.

It’s not surprising when there are adaptations in the mainstream quite regularly, from the original X-Men movie series to the recent Disney Plus series X-Men ’97, he’s been at the forefront of many of the classic characters’ most well-known adventures. And his powers – and the drive behind them – continue to captivate audiences.

Magneto is a complicated individual, which makes him a powerful character in many senses of the word. He has the ability to manipulate and move metal with his mind, controlling magnetic fields all around him with ease. He's a longtime enemy of the X-Men, as well...

This Beloved Nickelodeon Cartoon Offered a Unique Take on Children's Programming
Image
The dawn of the new millennium was a golden age for Nickelodeon. The iconic children’s entertainment giant has always produced good content, but its turn-of-the-century output was truly some of its best. These years established some of the brand’s most iconic titles, including The Fairly OddParents, Rugrats, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Of course, there were also plenty of “forgotten gems.” These shows may not be as outlandishly lucrative as their more esteemed cousins, but that’s rarely a condemnation of their inherent quality. Shows like Chalk Zone and Rocket Power may not be likely targets for tomorrow’s “brand new” reboot, but they’re still legendary examples of animated brilliance.

Amidst these dusty, overlooked relics of the world’s millennial optimism is Klasky-Csupo’s quirky and colorful The Wild Thornberrys. Like its compatriots, this unique cartoon isn’t often considered part of Nickelodeon’s diamond-tier lineup; most lump it into that iffy “good,...

The Mandalorian & Grogu's Latest Casting Could Lead to Star Wars’ Take on One Of the Biggest Shows of 2024
Image
Quick Links How Rotta the Hutt Could Follow In The Penguins’ Footsteps Jeremy Allen White Will Need To Reinvent How Fans View the Hutts Rotta the Hutt Should Be A Classic Puppet

It's official, Jeremy Allen White is joining the Star Wars galaxy far, far away. White is playing the nearly-forgotten character Rotta the Hutt, who made his debut in the poorly-received 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. With this high-profile casting, it's beginning to feel like Lucasfilm is trying to make this seemingly minor character’s inclusion in The Mandalorian & Grogu seem like a big deal. The decision to cast a top-tier actor in a role that appears to be entirely outside their comfort zone reflects Matt Reeves’ decision to cast Colin Farrell as The Penguin in 2022’s The Batman. Shortly after that film’s release, it was announced that Farrell would be donning the transformative make-up again...

10 Best Political TV Shows of All Time, Ranked
Image
Politics has served as the basis for some of Hollywood's most intriguing stories, from classic dramas like Mr Smith Goes to Washington to gripping thrillers like JFK. Ranging from conspiracies and scandals to the handling of major events, the world of government continues to enthrall audiences around the world -- especially those of the United States. While some of these series are comedy or satire, others explore grounded examinations of politics, power, and governance.

Political shows can be some of the most hit or miss on TV, with writers left in the unenviable position of trying to appeal to audiences on inherently divisive topics. Everything from war and policing to healthcare and social issues can feature prominently throughout these series, leaving criticisms of hamfisted, preachy, or uninspired writing on the table. Some series, however, have done a great job of winning over the audience through excellent writing and relatable character arcs.

Yoda's Jedi Master Officially Returns To Star Wars Canon
Image
Yoda's Jedi Master from Legends, N'Kata Del Gormo, has officially been brought back into Star Wars canon. Introduced in The Empire Strikes Back as Luke Skywalker's enigmatic teacher, Yoda has always been something of a mystery. The old Star Wars Expanded Universe shone a little light on his history, revealing he was mentored by several ancient Jedi Masters centuries before the Skywalker saga. Those stories aren't considered canon anymore - but now, one of Yoda's Legends mentors has indeed been restored.

As noted by Star Wars Explained, Steven Barnes' The Glass Abyss name-drops Yoda's old mentor, a Hysalrian named N'Kata Del Gormo. The book is told from the perspective of Mace Windu, and he reveals N'Kata Del Gormo is rumored to have been one of Yoda's mentors; it's interesting to note that Windu isn't sure, but at the very least, it seems N'Kata Del Gormo was a Jedi Master of some repute.

15 Best Animated Movies With A Robot Protagonist
Image
Robot cartoon movies have been a staple of family films for decades, especially since the cartoon format allows for more inventive and imaginative character designs. While many have robots simply as supporting characters, there are also plenty that feature a robot protagonist, either as a helping hand for the story's hero or even as the hero themselves. The first robot in a movie was in 1927's Metropolis, which was live-action, but once the animated film industry got in full swing, hand-drawn (and later CGI) robots became a regular sight.

Animated movies tend to take the opposite view of artificial intelligence, too. Whereas most live-action movie robots are evil, their animated counterparts tend to be much more wholesome. From modern hits such as The Mitchells vs. The Machines to classics like The Iron Giant, there are plenty of movies that suggest something other than evil can come from androids with artificial intelligence.

Every Chestburster Scene From the Alien Movies, Ranked
Image
In a certain sense, it's kind of ironic that the original Alien tagline read: "In space, no one can hear you scream. " Over the past four decades, the franchise has consistently proven the exact opposite, especially in the case of those pesky Chestbursters. From the moment one of those bloodthirsty critters first ripped its way out of the unsuspecting chest of Thomas Kane, the Chestbursters (and Xenomorphs by proxy) became one of the most iconic movie monsters of all time.

Since then, every entry in the Alien franchise has contained at least one Chestburster sequence, with each new sequence attempting to up the ante in terms of what came before to make its audience squirm. Some of these Chestburster scenes have been more successful than others, but they're all entirely memorable. Here's every Chestburster sequence from the core Alien films ranked in overall effectiveness.

Krennic's Rogue One Costume Is A Sneaky Star Wars: A New Hope Easter Egg
Image
In Gareth Edwards' 2016 film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," a group of scrappy Rebels defy orders from their superiors to infiltrate an Imperial stronghold and steal the blueprints for the Empire's newest superweapon, a planet-killing, moon-sized laser called the Death Star. It's no surprise that they will be successful, as the plans they steal are put to good use in the 1977 film "Star Wars." Indeed, the events of "Rogue One" end at the exact moment "Star Wars" picks up, leaving nothing to the imagination. Sadly, the characters of "Rogue One" all die in their mission, a fact that all "Star Wars" fans kind of knew going in.

The villain of "Rogue One" is an Imperial weapons developer named Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) who has overseen the design and construction of the Death Star. Like most of the Imperial characters throughout the "Star Wars" franchise, Krennic is stressed, angry, and unhappy.

Star Wars Makes Yoda's Jedi Failure In The Prequels So Much Worse
Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Star Wars: The Acolyte episode 8.

Yoda's failure to act on Sith warnings set the Jedi up for a fall into Palpatine's plot. Neglecting to explore threats left the Jedi vulnerable to collapse, as Yoda discounted potential dangers. Senators' warnings about the Jedi's power were ignored, leading to loss of faith in the Order.

The Jedis struggle against the Sith began long before Luke faced off against Darth Vader, and The Acolyte has made it undeniable that Yoda could have helped them prepare for the oncoming threat. Yodas incredibly long lifespan has given him the unique opportunity to gather wisdom and experience over the centuries that he uses to lead the Jedi as their Grand Master. When the Sith once again become active in the galaxy, the Jedi could have been much better equipped to deal with the threat if Yoda had utilized the...

Ashley Eckstein humorously criticized Ahsoka's original costume as impractical for a warrior during Fan Expo Philadelphia 2024 panel. The critique highlights the broader need for rethinking how female characters, like Ahsoka, are portrayed in the Star Wars saga. Ahsoka's character evolution reflects a more thoughtful approach to character development, especially in transitioning from animated to live-action.

Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, shared a candid critique of her character's original costume, sparking laughter and nods of agreement from the audience of the recent Fan Expo Philadelphia 2024. The discussion took place during the Rebels & Clones panel.

Eckstein pointed out a rather practical issue with Ahsoka's early attire during the panel moderated by Screen Rant. With a light-hearted tone, she asked,

Who fights a war in a tank top?

Eckstein's comment delighted the panel attendees and also brought attention to the broader concern regarding the character's portrayal in the series.

The Clone Wars Secretly Set Up Two Aspects Of Star Wars' Jedi Origin Movie (Not Just Huyang)
Image
Huyang, the ancient lightsaber architect, might make a comeback in the upcoming Star Wars movie Dawn of the Jedi. He played a crucial role in instructing Jedi younglings in constructing their lightsabers, including teaching Grand Master Yoda. Huyang's ship, the Crucible, is as old as he is and could potentially appear in James Mangold's Jedi Origin Movie.

The droid Huyang is one of Star Wars’ oldest aspects of the Jedi Order, and he might just be set to make another appearance… along with one important counterpart. The Star Wars timeline indicates that Huyang was created over 25,000 years ago as a lightsaber architect. The upcoming Star Wars movie Dawn of the Jedi will be covering the earliest days of the Jedi, making it the perfect time to bring Huyang and his ship back to the screen.

Though the details of his origin remain mysterious, Huyang was integral to the Jedi...

Image
The iconic Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul duel in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace remains one of the best lightsaber fights in Star Wars history. Darth Maul's character was revived thanks to Star Wars: The Clone Wars recognizing his potential. The evolving rivalry between Obi-Wan and Maul through six duels creates iconic moments across the Star Wars franchise.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul are two of the most iconic characters in Star Wars, and each of their duels are some of the best moments in the franchise. First introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Maul quickly became a fan-favorite villain for his memorable design, intimidating presence, and superb skill with a lightsaber, making him the ultimate rival for Obi-Wan. However, Obi-Wan cutting Maul in half at the end of the movie seemed to have ended his story just as it began.

Thankfully, Star Wars: The Clone Wars...

Star Wars Confirms One Surprising Clone Wars Villain Was Crucial To Palpatine's Return
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for The Bad Batch season 3, episode 10, "Identity Crisis"

Cad Bane played a vital role in Project Necromancer for Palpatine's resurrection plans. Bane collected high m-count Force-sensitive children for the Empire's secret efforts. With a clear lack of morality and willingness to kidnap countless children, Bane proved himself as a trusted professional to the Empire. He likely would have been a candidate to kidnap Rey for Palpatine had Bane been alive.

Star Wars confirms that a popular Clone Wars villain played a crucial role in Palpatine's resurrection plans. As seen in The Bad Batch season 3, the dawn of Project Necromancer is being revealed. This includes the collection of various subjects with high midi-chlorian counts who are being studied in the hopes of finding a viable blood sample for clone host bodies. To that end, the infamous bounty hunter Cad Bane has been revealed as a key...

Why George Rr Martin Dislikes Gandalf’s Lotr Resurrection
Image
Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin believes character deaths should be transformative and impactful. Martin criticized Tolkien's Gandalf resurrection, arguing death should be final to maintain story power and as such it would have been better if Tolkein had left him dead. George R. R. Martin's realistic approach to character resurrection where characters ultimately lose aspects of themselves differs from Tolkien's more fantastical storytelling style.

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, is famed for killing off his characters in an unexpected and spectacular fashion. While it's always difficult to see a beloved character be taken out of the story for good, it makes the stakes feel much higher. Martin clearly has a strict view on how death should be treated in fiction, as he's even criticized The Lord of the Rings' treatment of the concept while raising some fair points.

Star Wars: All Movies, Ranked
Image
Star Wars began as a single movie, which creator George Lucas winnowed down from a much larger storyline. Everyone thought it would bomb. Lucas simply hoped it would turn a profit. Instead, it became the biggest movie of all time. The unprecedented success of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope allowed the full story to flourish, though it took over 40 years for the nine-part Skywalker Saga to reach screens.

Along the way, it grew into more than just a film cycle, with TV series, animation, novels, comic books, and ancillary products of every imaginable kind added to the list. It's even included a few movies outside the Skywalker Saga, with more in various stages of development. 12 films in total have been seen inside of theaters. They're listed below from worst to best, though all of them have qualities worth watching.

10 TV Shows That Prove Filler Episodes Should Make A Comeback
Image
Filler episodes in TV shows serve various purposes, including character development, exploring new settings, and introducing important details for future storylines. Shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Once Upon a Time, and Lost effectively use filler episodes to enhance the overall story and build the lore of the franchise. Filler episodes can provide a much-needed break from the main plot, offering lighter and fun moments for the audience, while still contributing to character development.

TV shows that are founded upon countless great filler episodes prove the case for short-term plots making a comeback. Filler episodes are generally referred to with disdain, as the downtime of a TV show where nothing of consequence happens. The audience endures them, patiently waiting for the writers to get back to the main plot. However, these episodes are nonetheless vital to the story.

Filler episodes most commonly contribute to the overall story by focusing...

The Reason This ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Episode Was Originally Banned

Blossom (Cathy Cavadini), Bubbles (Tara Strong), and Buttercup (E.G. Daily), are collectively known as The Powerpuff Girls, a team of super-powered kindergarten-aged girls created by Professor Utonium (Tom Kane) out of sugar, spice, everything nice, and an accidental dash of Chemical X. The series was highly popular throughout its original run from 1998-2005; a fun, satirical, pop-culture savvy cartoon that spawned a movie and a reboot in 2016.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Created Huyang To Solve A Looming Yoda Problem
Image
In the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," we were introduced to the character of Professor Huyang, an architect and lightsaber designer droid who has been instructing younglings studying to be Jedi for, as he says in the series, "over a thousand generations." Visually designed with inspiration from concept artist Ralph McQuarrie's original art for C-3Po, Huyang's database has all the information about every lightsaber ever made and the Jedi who wielded it. He's got drawers full of lightsaber parts (which was based on creator Dave Filoni's grandfather's basement draws full of tools and parts), and he's always ready to help guide the young padawan in the creation of their first weapon. Plus, as we saw in the live-action Disney+ series "Ahsoka," he helps with Sabine's (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) lightsaber training. Huyang is voiced in both projects by David Tennant, aka the Tenth Doctor from "Doctor Who,...

Jar Jar Binks Captured General Grievous in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Image
Star Wars: The Clone Wars gave obscure and unpopular characters, like Jar Jar Binks, the chance to shine and play a key role in the war. In one episode, Jar Jar Binks successfully posed as Boss Lyonie and trapped General Grievous in a Gungan trap, humiliating the villain. Despite his reputation as clumsy, Jar Jar Binks showed unexpected competence throughout the series, contributing to the ongoing "Darth Jar Jar" fan theory.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars documented the period between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in which the Republic was at war with the Separatists. The animated series gave just about every character from the prequel era a moment in the sun, and nowhere was this more true than Jar Jar Binks. In one episode, the clumsy Gungan senator did the impossible: capture General Grievous.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars offered a deep look at everything...

Garfield: How Chris Pratt's Role Reveals a Problem in Hollywood
Image
Chris Pratt's casting as the voice of Garfield reflects a larger problem in the entertainment industry of high-profile actors replacing voice acting legends. The decision to cast Pratt ignores the talented aspiring voice actors who are struggling to make it in the industry. Sony Pictures is prioritizing trendiness over giving opportunities to up-and-coming voice actors, depriving them of potential jobs.

After Charles Martinet stepped down as the voice of Mario, the responsibility to continue the legacy of Nintendo's famous Italian plumber fell on the shoulders of Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt, who found success as the new voice of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The Nintendo and Illumination collaboration earned $1.3 billion at the global box office to become the highest-grossing video game adaptation and the second-highest-grossing movie of 2023 behind Greta Gerwig's Barbie. Now, Pratt will be ditching the overalls for a fresh coat...

Obscure Star Wars Characters Who Deserve TV Shows After Andor
Image
Since 1977, the Star Wars universe has delivered viewers one of the greatest, largest casts of characters in the history of fiction. With a canon that spans almost a century and an extended universe that covers millennia, future projects have practically infinite ground to cover. However, series like Andor have shown that A-list characters don't have to be the lead in these projects, and some of the universe's best characters are their most obscure.

Star Wars focuses on characters who range from powerful Jedi knights and Sith lords to space-faring pirates, smugglers and everything in between. The universe can cover a variety of ground, ranging from political thrillers to action, and can attract a large fan base with new projects. Placing more faith in obscure characters could enrich the value of Star Wars as a franchise, while also gaining some distance to explore worlds away from the Skywalker saga.

Best Battles from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ranked
Image
Set in a galaxy far, far away, the Star Wars franchise focuses on numerous characters across different eras of the galaxy as they fight for the balance of good vs evil. One of the most popular eras for many fans is the prequel era, particularly the Clone Wars, which raged from the end of Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith.

The Clone Wars animated projects, including the 2003 micro series, the 2008 movie and the full animated series, followed the Jedi and clones as they battled the forces of the Confederacy. Everything from the internal politics of the Republic to the mythology behind the Force was explored here. However, it was the epic battles of the conflict that kept fans tuning in, helping them get to know the clone troopers and explore the wars across the stars.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Had Too Much Filler
Image
Star Wars: The Clone Wars has earned a reputation as one of the greatest projects in the history of George Lucas' iconic franchise. The series and its movie tell the story of the Jedi's leadership of the clone army as they fight for the Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Up against villains like Count Dooku and General Grievous, the valiant heroes of the Republic proved themselves core parts of Star Wars history.

The Clone Wars was a great series, but it's no secret among the fandom that it had a tendency to delve too deep into filler territory. With seven seasons and 133 episodes, it shouldn't be any surprise that some Clone Wars episodes felt inconsequential or needlessly long. These episodes are loved by some fans, but they don't have the same entertainment value or significance to lore as others.

Why Star Wars Should Be A TV Series
Image
In the 40-plus years that Lucasfilm's Star Wars franchise has permeated pop culture, it's been understandably associated with a "theatrical event" status, but there's great potential for the mainline stories to venture into TV. Admittedly, certain Disney+ shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi were somewhat underwhelming when using both the brand and the medium to their fullest.

Even so, should Disney and Lucasfilm become more ambitious regarding TV production, a flagship Star Wars series would be a juggernaut in the industry. Between exploring fresh eras in this universe's history to finally breaking from the shadow of the Skywalkers, there are several pros to having the next Star Wars saga on the small screen.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Art Sees Anakin & Obi-Wan As Brothers In Arms
Image
The Clone Wars animated series provides a deeper understanding of the galaxy's political conflict and Anakin Skywalker's descent into darkness. Anakin and Obi-Wan's brother-like bond is heartwarming, making their tragic duel at the end of Revenge of the Sith all the more impactful. The Clone Wars is essential Star Wars viewing as it fills in the gaps between the prequel movies, explores vital character relationships, and has influenced other projects in the franchise.

New art inspired by Star Wars: The Clone Wars depicts Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi as brothers in arms. The animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars chronicles the events between Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, providing a deeper understanding of the Separatist vs. Republic conflict, Palpatine’s manipulative plans, and Anakin Skywalker’s slow descent into darkness. 10 Scariest Episodes In TV Shows Outside The Horror Genre
Image
The horror genre has had a place in television for decades, with some of the most highly acclaimed series in history exploring ideas of serial killers, monsters and other forms of terror. However, some of the best ventures into scary stories don't come from horror series at all, but incorporate elements of the genre into their story. This can make for a fun detour from the established tone of a series.

Some episodes prove a show doesn't have to go full horror to terrify its viewers, and can walk a line between genres like sci-fi, fantasy and crime with horror. These can lead to some unique stories that disturb and scare audiences, with some being seen as off-brand or bold directions for their series. Placing characters not associated with horror in scary situations is a great way of renewing interest in a series, as well as hooking new viewers.

How Star Wars' Original Clone Wars Show Can Be Reworked Back Into Canon
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars microseries was the first-ever glimpse into the Clone Wars era, featuring iconic characters like General Grievous and Asajj Ventress. Despite being replaced by Dave Filoni's CGI series, parts of the microseries, such as battles and voice actors, were canonized in The Clone Wars. The microseries can still fit into canon as an in-universe propaganda show commissioned by Palpatine to sway public opinion in favor of the Republic.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries from 2003 is easily one of the innovative and visually unique projects in the franchise. Nevertheless, Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars ultimately ended up building upon and replacing Tartakovsky’s vivid vision for what occurred between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. There are plenty of discrepancies between the two shows that can’t be reconciled. But despite the Clone Wars microseries being relegated to Star Wars Legends,...

15 Best Ahsoka Tano Moments From Star Wars Animation
Image
All hail Ahsoka! The young Jedi (voiced by Ashley Eckstein) first appeared in "The Clone Wars" to mixed reactions from "Star Wars" fans. Since then, however, she has grown into a popular character in George Lucas' sprawling franchise, so much so that she's received her own Disney+ TV series starring Rosario Dawson in the role. Her close relationship with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi ensures she is never too far from essential moments seen on "The Clone Wars" and other TV shows like "Star Wars Rebels," "Star Wars: The Bad Batch," and "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures."

With so many appearances in animation, it's tough to pin down Ahsoka's best scenes. Whether it be a killer lightsaber duel or a brilliant bit of heroism, there's no shortage of incredible sequences. However, after sifting through the 100-plus episodes of "The Clone Wars," "Rebels," and others, I've landed on a list of...

‘Halloween H20’ 25 Years Later: Why the 1998 Film Remains One of the All-Time Great Legacy Sequels
Image
The best legacy sequels concern themselves with the weight of the decades that have passed and the long-term effects of the events separated by the gulf of time between entries. While these stories occur across the wide spectrum of entertainment, the horror genre is uniquely positioned to explore such follow ups. After all, just as years affect a life, so too does the horrors of one blood-soaked Halloween night.

Long before Halloween (2018) brought Jamie Lee Curtis back into the fold as Laurie Strode in an effort to explore her deeply repressed trauma, Halloween H20 (1998) set out to accomplish just that. Itself twenty years removed from John Carpenter’s original Halloween (1978), Halloween H20 is one of the most successful films of its kind and a high point for the franchise, providing emotional depth and a satisfying conclusion to Laurie Strode’s narrative. It may have hit theaters in early August, but its chilly,...

Mark Hamill Is Relieved He Didn't Win An Emmy For His Star Wars: The Clone Wars Role
Image
Most of the world knows Mark Hamill by sight. He played Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" franchise, an acting gig that has spanned over four decades. You might even have an action figure of him in your house right now. In addition, Hamill has slayed audiences with his voice work as the Joker in Batman TV shows, animated projects, and video games since 1992. Hamill's voice work (including his insanely accurate impression of "Star Wars" co-star Harrison Ford) is incredible, and while he won a Daytime Emmy for his role in "Elena of Avalor," he was never even nominated for the Joker. That's a crime, and it's unlikely to happen now that his Batman counterpart Kevin Conroy has died.

One job he did get a Daytime Emmy nomination for was voicing Darth Bane in season 6, episode 13 of the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," entitled "Sacrifice." However, according to...
