- As in the novel of the same title from Camilo Jose Cela, "La Colmena" is a sad composition with the stories of many people in the Madrid of 1942, just the postwar of the spanish civil war. The main theme of the film is the contrast between the poets, surviving close to misery under the Franco's regime, and the winners of the war, the emerging class of the people that makes easy money with illegal business.
- A Spanish insurance company is absorbed by a multinational, so that, in order to modernize, its employees are obliged to carry out some training courses to adapt to the new situation and the new objectives. Given the relevance of what is at stake, the wives of these men will also be involved at work.
- Jacques Cournot, a freelance skipper, is hired by Mr Hendrix in Santo Domingo, first of all to advise him regarding the acquisition of a sailing boat. After a thorough inspection of a prospective vessel, the "Dragoon", Cournot reports his positive appraisal to Mr Hendrix and initiates the negotiations with Mrs Osborne, the owner of the craft. Barely a couple of days later, Cournot finds himself in a bind as the police questions him about the exact kind of cruise he was supposed to organize for his principal. For the "Dragoon" is gone; Mr Hendrix has disappeared; Mrs Osborne is not aware of any deal; and the corpses of mysterious individuals, victims of a violent death, are found on the beaches of Santo Domingo.
- When a Russian spacecraft is lost in space with two cosmonauts on board, the KGB authorities abduct two petty criminals, Franco and Ciccio, to launch them into space and have them return to impersonate the lost cosmonauts, only to have the real cosmonauts, Paradowski and Borovin, return; misunderstandings with the two duos abound.
- A German scientist takes refuge in an unnamed South American country and finishes the development of a weapon of mass destruction; his assistant Lesky is paid by a Chinese spy ring to abduct the scientist and appropriate the weapon. Superagent Z7's mission is to find them and prevent that, which he does--at the cost of a number of lives.
- Pepe and Paco, two great soccer fans, dream of one day becoming coaches of a great team, but for now they form the coaching staff of Casamata F.C., an amateur and quite modest team. Their goal is to move the team up a notch, but to achieve this they need a capitalist partner. Xavier, a man outside the world of football, but who has a lot of money, was then appointed vice president of the club.

- Two young French girls, Monique and Colette, arrive to Spain in their convertible car to attend summer courses at the International University of San Sebastian. The first contact with the country is in Pamplona. There, Monique considers heroes the boys who run in front of the bulls during the San Fermines.
