Studly island cop Nikos Sakalidis, who also helps out in his family's B&B, gradually falls in love with routinely purse-robbed German tourist Jana Johannson, whose holiday on Mykonos with mother Susanne turns interesting when they bump into her so far ever-absent biological father, retired ship building engineer Jens Hansen, who lives on his sailing yacht but ignored having offspring. Laid-off Susanne expected Jens's financial help for Jana's veterinary study, but he's not rich and Jana doesn't want to 'beg'. Jana finds Mexican cash aboard Jens's yacht, presumable from the former owner, which he cashed in Athens. Nikos is ordered to arrest him as suspected drug dealer, but Jana seduces lover Nikos to risk his job, even the precinct' budgetary survival, to help prove Jens's innocence, helped by a hastily drug-trained street dog.

Witwer Georg Weiser wird von seinen beiden Kindern zu einem Familientreffen nach Kreta gerufen - das dann ziemlich schiefläuft. Glücklich widmet sich Georg Weiser auf seiner Reise durch Griechenland alten und gegenwärtigen Philosophen, als ihn ein Anruf seiner Kinder erreicht: Susanne und Gerd wollen mit ihm den Todestag ihrer Mutter auf Kreta begehen. Als Weiser sich jedoch dagegen wehrt, bricht ein Familienstreit los, in dem das Verhältnis der drei wieder einmal auf eine harte Probe gestellt wird. Bei seiner Erkundungstour mit seinem Camper auf der Insel bewahrt Weiser den Schauspieler Sokrates vor dem Freitod und lernt über ihn den Griechen Alex Papadopoulos kennen, der mit seinem Start-up daran arbeitet, das Meer von Plastikmüll zu befreien und Baustoffe daraus herzustellen. Begeistert möchte Weiser direkt mit einsteigen, was zu reichlich Unmut bei seiner Tochter führt, die das Projekt mit ihrer Umweltschutzorganisation leitet und keinesfalls mit ihrem Vater zusammenarbeiten will. Und als wäre das alles nicht schon genug, findet Weiser heraus, dass Susanne eine Affäre mit ihrem Arbeitskollegen Alex hat, der mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Kindern auf Kreta lebt. Zudem ist Susanne von ihm schwanger. Alte und neue Liebesaffären sorgen für allerlei Turbulenzen, und Weiser muss Ordnung in die unklaren Verhältnisse bringen. Er beschließt, jetzt wieder mehr für seine erwachsenen Kinder Susanne und Gerd da zu sein, und freundet sich mit seiner Rolle als Großvater in spe an. Doch dass die beiden ihren Vater mehr in ihrem Leben haben wollen, ist nicht gesagt.
