An escaped convict, deep in the Pennsylvania country, runs into a lone hiker who has gone out to end her life. Needing her to guide him out, he suddenly realizes she might not be what she seems.

Embry, an Army veteran back from deployment in Afghanistan and suffering from PTSD, takes the advice of his VA-appointed counselor to "get away" and pursues his old pastime of backpacking. Joined by his brother, a small-time criminal looking to lay low after a deal gone wrong, and their friend Geoff, a blocked writer looking to find inspiration for his next book, the three set out to ease what ails each of them. Along the way, the three stumble upon a large marijuana grow, with acres of plants ready for harvest, tended by armed growers. Embry, Dylan and Geoff flee from the scene, pursued by the growers.
