American painter Edward Hopper (Michael Stuhlbarg) is working in his studio when a woman he painted (Rebecca Brooksher) calls him and invites him to jump in the painting she lives in. She is bored and wants to take a walk in downtown NYC. She discover life and asks him never to take her back in the painting. But as they have a drink in a diner, Hopper decides he will make her the woman silhouette in his most famous image : 'Nighthawks'.
