The Electric State is based on a trilogy by Simon Stålenhag, which I havent read. Its the third entry in the Tales from the Loop series, which was also adapted into a one-season show in 2020 which i have seen.
I even wrote a review about it concluding: "Emotional and well-made in parts, but if you're looking for answers or tighter storytelling, this one might test your limits. As for me? Too slow, too sparse, too dull." With that in mind i didnt have high expectations for the movie, especially since the robots in the show were more of a backdrop than a focal point. Somehow the movie got a $320m budget and the Russo Brothers directing.
I always love seeing some retro futuristic mise en scenes and the robots look decent they move more now.
The editing is pretty bad at times especially after the first few acts. Much like the show it lacks character and world building depth... typical for a teen action adventure movie.
Its a movie, not very good but sometimes fun.

Oh man i wish something like SIMs were real now, i believe it is slowly becoming reality with the new reasoning models for LLMs and robots like X1 prototype or protoclone. 50 Gigahertz processor huh, maybe in 50 years?
Suffice to say i like the concept and the premise AI robots take jobs and the protags horny maidbot goes mad this movie has some potential, the plot is thin and predictable, the acting is okay overall Megan did a good job, its fun at times but mostly boring, cinematography some good shots nothing too impressive mostly basic and decor is decent.
Its a lot like the movie afrAId a decent at best AI robot horror.
Hot Terminator, sEx Machina, M3GAN F0X, Companion at home.
