Love Actually is a CHRISTMAS MOVIE? Look, Die Hard has a better message than this trash. First of all, Christmas isn't about romantic love, I mean what in the world?
Secondly, the scene with the guy with the signs - the classic iconic scene, I guess - is horrible. It is a man basically trying to steal his best friend's new wife because he thinks shes hot.
Then, there's the guy who goes to America ...because having a foursome with hookers is the Christmas spirit?
Finally, all of the nonsense about Natalie being allegedly fat really drives home how the world has changed in twenty years for the better, doesn't it?
This is a creepy, weird, sexist movie about mens sexual fantasies. And every single song except Here with Me by Dido is awful.

The Ruse is wildly overrated here by some dishonest promoters of this low budget, basic film. Even calling it a film is an overstatement. I do not know why I even watched the whole thing, but that's the reason I am giving it four stars - it is watchable in a Lifetime: Television for Women sort of way.
One Battle After Another is an engaging and fun ride through the political and cultural landscape. For that it deserves praise. The timeliness and relevance of the subject matter is spot on, which is why it has done so well. Leo DiCaprio is intensely lovable as Bob/Ghetto Pat and Sean Penn is a hilariously ridiculous and stunningly accurate white supremacist nut job.
That being said, I really hated the over-sexualization of all of the adult women, especially in the first twenty to thirty minutes. It wasn't empowering, it was gross and objectifying, and was a stark reminder that a middle aged white man directed this movie. Groans abound. Likewise, some of the aspects were silly on purpose - I know, and I laughed - but others seemed stale and dated, as if this movie were really made for people in their 60s even though most of the revolutionary main characters are more like 40. Same with the soundtrack - what in the world. Born somewhere in the 80s? Too bad, Paul Thomas Anderson is stuck in the 70s.
But all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would watch it again.
