The researchers, costume designers and stylists should be ashamed of their interpretation of 1988. Missed the mark badly on the hair styles, makeup and women's clothing. The dialogue is not from that era either. A little more attention to detail was needed. The original trilogy did much better.
That said, it's pretty good for a Netflix movie. The kills are gruesome and acting is solid by all the cast (just a little modern). Storyline is somewhat predictable but it plays out just like an 80s horror film, so that's ok.
Soundtrack has some great bangers, mostly from the early 80s rather than 1988 but they add a good nostalgic vibe.

This might look similar to Star Wars (well a tv budget version), but it doesn't feel like Star Wars. There's the occasional fan service with a familiar droid here and alien there, but it doesn't have the right tone for the franchise.
The writing is awful. It's simple, childish storytelling from someone who isn't a true fan. The show had such potential. No baggage from the Skywalker legacy, and whole knew stories and worlds to explore. But we just get drivel that any AI could've written.
The direction isn't any better. No suspense. No big wow moments or beautiful scenes. Backgrounds look fake. It's very studio/Volume heavy rather than the expansive worlds they could've used.
Very disappointing.

"Erase", or "Expatriate" as it's called in my country, borrows heavily from the Jason Bourne series but does it with a much lower budget.
Set in Belgium, this espionage movie follows a tried and tested formula: characters drawn together through unfortunate circumstances, life/identity wiped out by evil organisation, mysterious backstories slowly revealed amongst gunfire and dread. You know. You've seen it before. Bourne. Neeson. Cruise. But this one has mostly unknown actors instead.
The movie quality feels like a British drama series. Well made, for TV. But not quite theatrical standard. The plot is basic but messy. There are plot holes. Plenty of them. And unrealistic events. The kill count is high but there are rarely any police - unless it's an essential plot device.
If you're looking to waste 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon, this may help pass the time. But it's quite forgettable.
