2007-02-23 Hi! I've had this fantastic (and I am sure, underrated movie)since around 1987-1989 I guess, as I then had the pleasure to tape it through FilmNet (at the time...through TNT...now TCM) >with Swedish subtitles<. I like this very much, an excellent flick, not least for us who love the beautiful old birds, like here, the DC-3/Dakota (they certainly don't make 'em like that anymore - period) Kees Brusse is perfect in his part as the loner, to his Dakota dedicated flier. The amazing solo flight, without landing for refueling is another thing, from the West Indies to Holland, partly with just one engine. This has to be viewed, a wonderful and slow paced flick. Of course part of the beauty, the scenery from the Netherlands Antilles beside the great shots of the bird itself. Shot in Anamorphic Widescreen. H I G H L Y recommended. Convinced? A copy of mine can be discussed.
