I love Liam Neeson, but it just a matter of time when audiences are getting tired of the same "Aging action grandpa still beating up bad guys" over and over again. Isn't he in his early 70s? I wasn't thrilled at Blacklight (so too was Memory). Neeson's acting just wasn't there in Blacklight. The characters are uninteresting, the story sucked, the dialogue is 'eh.' I just want him to go back to being the Oscar-contending Liam Neeson. Go back to his days as Darkman or Bad Cop from The Lego Movie. Just no more "Taken"-esque knock-offs. Blacklight is one of the worst movies I saw in 2022. Skip it.
When I first heard about the ongoing controversy surrounding "Music," What's so bad about this movie? I get it, making a wrong message about autism. Now I do have autism (it's no joke, Asthma attacks can happen) and this film is a big fat mess. With all due respect to singer Sia and Leslie Odom, Jr., they don't want to be involved in this movie if some cokehead from a Hollywood studio thought this was a great idea on paper. And the film was nominated for 2 Golden Globes (Best Picture in a Musical or Comedy and Best Actress: Kate Hudson). What the hell was that? A best picture film from garnering a dreaded 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes? There's a reason why this year's Globes hit an all-time low in NBC's history of hosting the awards since the 70's. And as for Kate Hudson, her career might be officially over after this backlash. She started off strong with "Almost Famous" and she made decent rom-coms like "Bride Wars" "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" and "Raising Helen" (which was an underrated Kate Hudson movie I really like), but then she a series of box office duds like another Oscar nominee-turned-failure "Nine," "Something Borrowed" and "Rock The Kasbah." The biggest problem with "Music" is that Kate Hudson has horribly been miscast. It should've been given a lot better as a musical, but selling it to theaters and show the audience sending a message doesn't work. What's even worse is that they didn't even cast a real disabled actor that is dealing with autism. I'm so confused. It will go down as one of the worst offensive movies ever to nominate a Golden Globe Award. Props to Maddie Ziegler, Leslie Odom, Jr. and Sia Fuller's performance. These 3 are the only good standouts from an otherwise terrible idea of a movie that is aptly titled " Music."
Message to Hollywood casting choices: Do not cast a non-disabled actor as characters with a disability. It is very offensive and it's not even funny.
