When Scream made its resurgeance, i felt it was only a matter of time before this franchise got its own comeback and well it followed pretty much the same path exept the show only had 1 season (unlike the Scream show wich had multiple) and here we are in 2025 with a movie simply titled "I know what you did last summer" like it would be a reboot but its in fact a sequel, much like Scream 5 wich ditched the number for reason i still don't understand.
I enjoyed the first 2 movies back in the days and while there was technically a third, it was a direct to video low budget wich wasn't good at all, wich anyway seem to be ignored entirely in this continuation (and thats totally fine).
This movie follow a new group of friends but follow a similar path as the first movie. An accident happen and one year later they are stalked by the Fisherman. You do have some legacy characters showing up but they are not the main focus.
Im gonna keep this spoiler free but lets just say the movie made some bold choices and was interesting to follow on who might be after them. That was probably the best aspect of the movie but its not gonna please everyone, thats for sure.
The characters were alright. Not the most interesting i ever seen, but not the worst either. For instance "Thanksgiving" had amazing kills and violence, but the characters were so bad it hindered my enjoyement of the movie as i couldn't care less who lived or died.
As for the rest, it is a pretty standard run of the will slasher. The kills are ...alright. I think they could had been more violents and originals in parts in my opinion, but a few were indeed cool. The chases/stalking could had been better as well, but it wasn't bad either. A couple ones stand out a bit more.
Altough this review may appear "negative" at first glance, i actually had decent fun with the movie. Its an alright slasher. I think there is less material to make something interesting sequels after sequels like Scream, but if you simply want to see young adults get the "axe" (or in this case the hook) it does its job fine. If they make another i will surely watch, but if that was a one and done, i am totally ok with it as well.
And so on this, my "Halloween Season Program" of 2025 has officially started. For the next 2 months i am gonna watch a lot of Horror/Halloween themed movies, so stay on the lookout.

I was not that familiar with Brittany Snow before i watched the 3 Pitch Perfect movies in the last months. But i think she was fantastic in these. Later on despite not liking that much the movie "X" she was a highlight for sure in it.
So when i saw this pass online randomly i was like "sure, ill watch that" and it turned out pretty good.
This movie is really a mix of "this would never happen in real life" situations but engulfed in a lot of heart. The characters mature, grow, become better, and even tough some may say the base of it is predictable, some scenes did surprised me.
Its not a "laugh out loud" type of movies but i had my share of chuckles and a few little laugh. When i watch a romcom i usually care more about the "rom" than the "com" anyway, as what i want is get attached to the characters and either relate to them or that they get me into a "wishful fantasy". Basically get "touched" by them... and i got that with this movie.
Is it an all time classic that i will want to watch again and again? Nah. But it was very enjoyable for 1 viewing. This was probably my last "regular" movie before starting my "Halloween 2025 program" in early September, so look forward for more horror movies in the coming weeks.

I picked this movie for 1$ out of a video store clearance sale before it shut down a while ago (yes i mention it often in my reviews, i still have a few lefts from that sale lol). I got it because at that price why not and the cast looked interesting with Malin Akerman and Kat Dennings.
Sadly the movie was overall boring. I was in the mood for a light comedy, picked a few beers, and even then i didn't had much fun with it. Sure there is a few chuckles scene, but they are far and between and the main issue in my opinion is that the movie feel like you basically watching some mundane peoples just having a day not that out of the ordinary.
There could had been some funny situations happening but it never really did. Instead you got introduced to the main 2 characters and their relationship problems, then some peoples show up without much backgrounds (some are friends, but some apparently got invited by another guest), and you basically have to watch them prepare dinner and eat it for 90 minutes that feel much longer.
I know this is a movie likely more targeted at a woman audience, but i enjoy romcoms and light hearted movies, so its not an issue for me. I just didn't find much things interesting in this movie. I was surprised to see this was produced by Ben Stiller.
In the end, as soon as it finished, it got straight into the pile for the used movies store for trade in.
