"Detroit Rock City" (1999) is overall a fun film but maybe not for everyone.
There is a lot of 1970's nostalgia in this film due to the fact this film takes place in Detroit in 1978. As four teenage KISS fans stumble along in a short adventure to get their KISS tickets and somehow get to Detroit in one piece. Lots of 70's high jinks along the way make a trip they'll never forget!
The film is if it was written by a teenage boy retelling his wild experience to impress someone. That means typical teen boy things like loud music, rebellion, girls and desire for freedom. Or at least that's how I feel.
The film is not great even for diehard KISS fans although that is also because it less of a KISS film and more a teen comedy with main characters who happen to love KISS. But the film is also not bad. Sometimes the film feels charming but not for too long before quickly souring it with something stupid. Like a teen boy.
If you love the 70's you'll be constantly amused by the references and appearances. If you like classic rock and rebellion this film will also keep you amused. But besides that you become less likely to remain engaged unless you have a childhood tie to the film.
I can't say this a must watch film but for a "classic rock" film it should definitely be on your list!

"We Beat the Dream Team" (2025) is pretty entertaining. For such a small moment that most people would not even know, this film does a great job grabbing the viewer and keeping them on the edge of their seat.
A group of college players beat the greatest team of all time during a practice scrimmage and no one from either side seems to have forgotten about it. The story should've been long forgotten but the Dream Team players/coaches reluctantly recall how it went and the college kids tell every detail with a smile.
This should be just a film for basketball nerds, but the energy and playful retelling of the story would keep anyone interested the whole time. It's a short and sweet documentary that has instant rewatchability for years to come! Highly recommend!
