This movie embodies everything that has become typical of modern Hollywood, so I can't say I'm surprised anymore. The plot relies on a contrived scenario where a supposedly brilliant character is inexplicably outsmarted by a 19- or 20-year-old, and not in a clever or believable way. It's almost as if the writers abandoned logic entirely to push an agenda. Hollywood seems to have developed a strange fixation on undermining male characters, often making them lose in ways that feel forced and downright insulting to the audience's intelligence. Instead of creating nuanced storytelling or well-rounded characters, this film opts for lazy tropes that prioritize messaging over coherence. The result is a frustratingly predictable and shallow experience that does a disservice to its own premise."

I didn't know what to expect when I started watching Dark. I hadn't read anything about it. Even when I started watching a couple of episodes I found myself lost and that keeping track of timelines and who was who in the future and past kept me on my feet but as things progressed I got a feel for how the TV series was structured. So, give this a little time if you don't exactly track with what's going on in the beginning because this isn't going to be like any TV show you've ever watched and it's worth being invested into the characters and what's going on. I love movies and TV series that are Shakespearean tragedies and these are rare to find. Gladiator (Movie) was one, Black Sails (TV) another, but they are the very best stories. Dark is a Shakespearean tragedy. You won't realize this until the very end and the ending is bittersweet like all tragedies. This is in my top 3 TV series of all time, I highly recommend it. Watch till the very end, after being invested so much into these characters, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
This is a sequel to another movies so there's a reasonable expectation that this movie should feel as if it were a part of the original but it doesn't and one of the major reasons why is simply the singing. Some of the reviews here try to play this down saying there isn't much but it's literally all the time. Someone probably owed Lady Gaga a favor and told her they would put her in a movie and make the movie a musical and, unfortunately for us, this was the movie that Lady Gaga got cast in and ruined our sequel.
This movie has no story, there are no twists and turns, nothing to make you think. There's no action either. This isn't some deep dive into Arthur's mind either like some people suggest. This isn't some psychological drama or thriller. This movie is a rudderless boat going nowhere.
I stand by this movie being made for Lady Gaga to be in a movie with singing -- that's all this is.
