I was fortunate enough to get to see this movie early and I enjoyed myself enough however, I caught myself checking the time at several moments and it started to drag. Justin Long is one of the most interesting actors working today as he picks the strangest roles I loves him in 2022s Barbarian, Jeepers Creepers, and Tusk and this movie is no different he is phenomenal in it and very enjoyable to watch and I would only recommend this movie if you are a fan of those previous works. However, he is not in it much and the lead actress is not very good. The story is almost nonexistent but that's okay for a movie like this. Joel McHale is also enjoyable in this movie but the ultimate product is lackluster if you're a fan of Christmas horror movies or Justin long it's worth checking out but other than that you won't be missing much if you skip this one.
This movie was so cheesy in all of the right ways. It was self aware of it's ridiculous premise and it did every major twist you could do with that premise. Nicolas Cage is phenomenal and this is a must see for any fans of his. The slap of god is probably a top ten best scene of all time I had to rewind and watch it over and over at least ten times laughing harder and harder each time. It surely isn't for everyone but that's what makes it so good the violence and gore is well done and there were some scenes that were truly eerie. If you go in taking it seriously you will be disappointed but if you grab some friends and have a good time this movie is perfect.
This is a 1954, three and a half hour, Japanese movie. To the average cinema goer this is not what you're looking for. But who am I to not give this masterpiece a 10. If you put in the time you will find yourself experiencing one of the most epic and awesome movies to ever grace the screen. I found myself completely captivated and invested in this story and felt a true sense of adventure. I hadn't felt like this since I was a kid watching Star Wars or a teen watching The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Akira Kurosawa made the perfect samurai movie and it's a must watch for any fan of film. So, find a comfy couch, put your phone down, put in the time, and you will not be disappointed.
