One expected to see strong moral values from Statham, action being there to support the values. In this movie that is thrown out of the window when he drowns a helpless tied up goon who it seemed had really had nothing to do with the kidnapping. Why kill him in cold blood without remorse? I stopped watching right there.
The story doesn't stick, the kidnapped girl was not even his own daughter, and for whatever bond they have been shown to share didn't strike as that loving and strong either.
I should have known when he kept making the empty broad mouth smiles, doesn't even suit him. He seemed to be doing what he is told by the idiot movie writers / makers, including the murder by drowning of the innocent goon.

I had to click the movie shut (love technology, would have cost me time and money if I was going to see this in a movie theater) in the opening scene itself after 2 minutes where the main character police person is shown beating brutally to half death some accused, with a cricket bat that is broken from the beating and dripping with blood.
Same old, same old, slave mentality movie writers that accept / condone / help propagate police brutality by Indian police.
The irony is that in the audio narration leading up to the opening scene, this police guy is said to have solved a previous hard to solve case by employing proper investigation techniques. Now when they open the scene for him he is shown quite the opposite, an inept and cruel scoundrel that has to beat half to death to extract a confession because he could not solve a case by working it in legal and by-the-book ways.

I opened this movie expecting an action movie but got horrified to see a high ranking policeman doing fake encounters killing goons (the first murder was that of a corrupt policeman himself, that Rajini got done by a goon, and I clicked the movie shut horrified right then) taking the law into his own hands. Earlier in the movie Rajini also shamelessly tries to justify his fake encounters in a court of law. Even movies tagged Horror are not as horrific as this movie that is tagged as Action.
Some good persons had filed a case against this movie makers for justifying fake encounters but they got silenced by the movie makers by bribing them and the case got dropped. Shameless and horrifying. Yuck. Earlier he did it in "Darbar" which was another horror movie of a rogue policeman killing at will for any or no reason at all. Will never watch another Rajini movie again.
