Dumbfounded in a strange way. Comparing this 43 minute television production to the full length movie A House of Dynamite (2025) the psychological pull of each offers fascinating emotional parallels in magnitude and tone until the end. In a way, E. L. E commits while A House of Dynamite does not even as its production values fall short. This film attempts to offer an emotional scenario of plausible explanations and doubts, creepy events that lead towards inexorably to a climatic outcome. Yes, the directorial effort lapses in places, yet the pacing and well-intentioned storyline screams loudly and captivatingly throughout.
Rather confused mix of the new with the old in this second sequel. What begins as an initial disappointment with new faces this storyline somehow evolves into familiar territory including a new adversary with Rosamond Pike, a Bond girl as well as talented actor that brings a charming and intriguing persona to the big screen. There is more CGI than magic, more clique plotting that seems old, but the new twisty convolutions like magic bring a certain sparkle and genuine ingenuity to the end making this movie acceptably enjoyable. Understandably this sequel does not bring back the dazzling original magic, a few over the top pretentious scenes, yet somehow the way this film jells brings back a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction with its big climatic turnaround.
This slow burn sci fi thriller begins with promise but suddenly descends into typical horror along with a brief attempt at a different but ultimately unsatisfying last few scenes. This creepy, uneven movie begins with an unnecessary foreshadowing scene that repeats itself mostly intact later in the movie and an odd reference between the first and second day as months having gone by instead of days. What could have been a downright thrilling sci fi movie with an isolated alone fire lookout employee that came across very well with creepy delicious tidbits thrown in until the script completely derails losing its way two-thirds way through the movie. Does anybody survive? That question is resolved somewhat differently, but not enough to save the terrible overall experience thrust upon the viewer. Feel really bad for the competent actors who gave courageous attempts with what they were provided with. Perhaps skip this one, unless you want to watch the first two-thirds of the movie and then come up with your own imaginative ending.
